Maybe I am like one of the few spiderman 2099 fan that feel Miguel inyecting himself with other spider DNA for keep or regulate his powers is a good idea OR CAN WORKS IF IS DONE RIGHT.
Cause if we consider how Miguel don't like being Spiderman and consider himself a nature freak...
Tumblr media
This only show Miguel sense of responsability first, even according to the movie artbook he is described as an spider person that has a lot of responsability and is his first priority
Tumblr media
Mind you this is how always Miguel have been anyways
Tumblr media
(He would rather stay in peter dimension for help him even if he is not able to come bsck home, like gwen as well!!)
So like Miguel inyecting himself spider dna for regulate/keep his powers while hating himself for it can be a powerful narrative.
Cause he isn't doing this because he wants be stronger he is doing this cause HE NEED be stronger.
He is the leader of the spider society, he is the one that is saving the multiverse even if yes there are more spider people that are helping. It was Miguel (and Lyla of course) that made the spidersociety, the watches, and more. He is the one in charge and have to be the stronger even if he hate it even if he wants a normal life.
Tumblr media
I am still kinda dissapointing for some choises of him as a comic fan but I will have hope at sony writters.
Cause just like Peter, Miguel decided to be spiderman cause it was the right thing to do!! And because Peter inspire him!!
Tumblr media
I just hope just like the crossover comic sony writters make Miguel have hope again and connect himself with what is being Spiderman again!!! 😭

Superhero media and art shouldn't be made by oppressors, me thinks.
TL;DR: Please let poc, disabled and queer people make superhero art.
With all the recent announcements made about Superman: Legacy and people asking for Greta Gerwig to direct the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film - I've been thinking about how much I wish more superhero art was made by disabled, poc and queer people.
Don't get me wrong I love Gerwig's and Gunn's work (Peacemaker is one of my favorite tv shows and my final project for my film class was about lady bird lol) but I feel like at the core of characters like Superman, Supergirl, Spider-man, etc. There's this understanding of the struggles of the little guy; there's a reason these characters are such a hit in places like Mexico and icons in trans and queer spaces.
They are defenders of the oppressed, it only makes sense that the oppressed got to create the kind of defender we want. As much as I trust someone like Gerwig to understand the female rage inherent to the character of Kara, I don't expect her to know the tragedy of losing your home, of feeling forced to protect people that would rather see you death. Just like I don't expect Gunn to understand the longing for a home you never knew, the despair that comes from being surrounded by people who look exactly like you but will never be able to fully understand you.
And I specially don't expect them to understand the strength it takes to look at all that and still have hope, to wake up and love a world that hates you. The wonder of superheroes has never been in their feats of strength but in their rejection of the world as it is, the wonder of gently holding you and telling you there's a better tomorrow - one where you and me have a place and live happily.
Time and time we see the need for the voices of the unheard to be broadcasted through this modern day legends, be it Ta-Nehisi Coates excellent work on Black Panther, Cody Ziglar's revolutionary spirit in both Spider-Punk and Spider-Man, Vita Ayala's fun and thought provoking take on Static, Jadzia Axelrod's joyous work Galaxy and so so many more incredible superhero books that are able to get to the core of what they truly are:
Dreams, dreams of the freaks and excluded, dreams of a better tomorrow, dreams of a better world.
And we need these legends to be told in the voices of the opressed, to be communicated in our language and to be transformed by our hope.
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading <3, stay safe and stay hopeful!
pd: pls if you have any drop your recs for comics and books made by poc, disabled and queer people in the notes!

Sooooo we all agree Miles and Miguel are two sides of the same coin, right?
TL;DR: Miguel is angry at Miles because he reminds him of himself.
I've been thinking about the scene where Ms Weber tries to tell Miles' "great story" and starts out by saying this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which as Rio and Jeff proceed to explain is completely wrong, but there's another character that this description fits pretty well: Miguel O'hara!
Tumblr media
Just like Miles, Miguel was someone who grew up with the pressure of being "great" - but in comparison with Miles he was never told to be great for himself. Instead almost every decision about Migue's life was made by someone else. To the point that even his choice of becoming Spider-Man is shown to be completely fabricated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think we should keep this in mind when talking about his outburst when pursuing Miles, throughout the movie we see Miguel struggling between being the cold hearted man of science he believes he should be; and being the compassionate father he is at his core.
We see this first with his decision to let Gwen join the Spider-Society and again when he first explains canon events to Miles; trying to comfort him.
Tumblr media
But Miguel ultimately fails because he believes Spider-man to be a curse, a prison he tried to escape and was unable to, so he tries to force Miles into conforming to the "canon". The same canon he blames for all of his suffering but most importantly the same canon that gives his suffering meaning.
Something that Miles refuses to do because he believes Spider-man to be the exact opposite, he sees Spider-Man as a blessing that let's him do both things. Save just one person and the entire world, be a superhero and be a normal teen.
Both of this perspectives being shown to us via a conversation with their fathers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This clash in perspective finally forces Miguel, in a way, to admit how he really feels while chasing Miles; "You're just a kid who has no idea what he is doing!". Something the Miguel tells himself a lot in the comics.
Tumblr media
Showing us what he really sees in Miles that makes him so angry, himself. He sees his reflection on Miles but it is ever so slightly off, because this time, Spider-Man won't be yet another tragic hero.
Tumblr media
Hope whoever reads this enjoyed the post, I've been spiraling this last week thinking about my two fave Spider-Men.
