Does anyone have lighthearted book recs? My mom (and myself frankly) want things that are lighthearted and just not super dark. Like I know Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, Mark Twain, O'Henry, PG Wodehouse, but also more modern books? Really any genre. I just read a lot of darker stuff and my mom keeps saying "Can you recommend something less depressing right now?"

So, the other day, when I was discussing AO3's policy on solicitation, a tumblr user came at me saying that AO3's "no monetization/solicitation" rules were "bullshit" because nexus mods allows fan created mods to get paid.

I always think abt the fact that Gansey believed that his best friend tried to commit out of grief and that he spent months by his side making sure it wouldnt happen again. And the only explanation he had the entire time was that ´it wasnt like that’. I think abt the fact that Ronan woke up in a hospital room and had to explain himself to his brothers before they entertained the idea that he didnt want to be alive — which was true but wtv. Imagine how horrible it mustve been for Declan to pick up his phone and hear that his little brother had tried to take his own life. Declan who loved Ronan from the beginning, even when their father didnt. Declan who sacrificed his childhood for Ronan. Declan whod probably last talked to Ronan only to argue.

This episode is so important to me because it highlights Ronans struggles to people who couldnt/wouldnt see them for what they were. Its the same reason why The Dream Thieves is, imo, the best book of the series

I keep seeing reviews for Maggie Stiefvater's new book The Listeners, which say things like "trc fans won't like this because it doesn't have a thrilling action plot" and I would like to know if those authors have ever met a trc fan

I knew Adam cut his own hair but can I just say I love how terrible it looks here. Like now I realise why he said he feels wrong in a suit and why he doesn't fit in with the other aglionby boys. And I also understand why everyone said it looks charming. It's adorable.

This is a mood, why do I need to play a gacha game when I want a physical product. You can revile labubus but look the other way when there is a 1/15 chance of getting the blorbo keychain??

seeing more and more artist alley artists put out merch exclusively available via gacha or blind boxes, and watching stamp rallies go from fun little bonuses to basically pay-to-win questlines people are locking their high-end products behind, and noticing the increasing adoption of elaborate bespoke branded packaging that is just going directly into the trash as soon as people get home from the con. ohh its nauseating it really is. i understand Why so many independent artists are adopting business practices we would instantly be able to recognize as predatory or disproportionately harmful when anyone but a ~small business owner~ does it but what i understand less is how everyone just seems to be okay with this.
