It's the best thing ever

Nothing beats the feeling when you start getting comments on every fic in a fandom or ship from one person, and it’s clear that they’re going on a fic-binge.

I really hate fanfic discussions on tiktok because I just saw a video saying that fandom is extremely greedy these days because they think 50k is a bite sized fic and won’t read anything under it (correct— that’s a wild mindset to approach fandom and fanfic with) and all the comments are people dogging on longer fics saying that anything past 100k is 80% filler and has way more problems so they hate reading them

Like can we not!!!! Can we praise all kinds of fics and say that preferences are valid but shitting on a fic of any length just for the length and nothing else is not? Can we acknowledge that short fics have work and love put into them and also acknowledge that a 200k fic takes YEARS of dedication and aren’t inherently worse? Literally nothing makes me want to quit writing more than people saying 200k+ is too long and that they suck so much more than 50k fics

Like I’m not saying my 350k ongoing fic is perfect but when you’ve spent 6+ hours a day writing (and planning) something for nearly a whole year FOR FREE WITH NO BENEFIT OTHER THAN A LOVE OF THE GAME and the response is tiktokers going “yeah but fics longer than 100k are full of problems and filler and they have so many more chances to disappoint you so I never bother”?? Yeah that feels really shitty ngl
