Hey so uhm ..!

I just reread the end of season 2 so here are my predictions for season 3 !! (hot take warning..)

Cut off because it got long ..

- Season 3 will NOT begin from where we left off, and we’ll be following the paper cranes for the first few episodes.

The biggest complaint of last season was how little screen time the main cast got and how restricted their character interactions were. HOWEVER, I think it would be interesting to see what happened to Ryan and Alex after helping the kids escape. This way Red can address the issue without having to cut between what?? Like 3 different settings and 5 different groups of characters?? Taylor and Logan are unconscious and Tyler and Aiden are stuck in the storage compartment of a bus. Realistically, the only way season 3 could begin is with the paper cranes, Taylor and Logan back at the contamination facility, or Ashlyn and Ben looking for their friends.

- Season 3 will be less focused on world building and more focused on character development.

One of the things I LOVED about season 2 was its ending. Red splitting the cast into pairs was probably one of the smartest things she could’ve done. A lot of fans (me included) have noticed that characters like Logan and Taylor aren’t given as much screen time because there are simply too many characters to write for. Separating the cast gives them the opportunity to grow and become their own leaders. I’m interested to see how this change will affect Ashlyn, as she’s usually the one the group looks to in times of crisis.

- There will be a minor character death towards the end of the season.

And honestly? I think it’s Ryan. He’s gotten a lot of screen time, we got a glimpse of his backstory, and he’s on his way to redemption. He betrayed the paper cranes and it won’t be long until Jasmine finds them. (Assuming that Alex, Ryan, and that other guy were able to escape based off this)

If not Ryan, then I think it may be a family member .. which would be devastating. What can I say, I love angst.

Can’t think of any more so that’s it for now, maybe I’ll come back to this closer to the release of season 3 :^)

Some similarities and differences in the canvas I thought were interesting !!

- Family meeting?

This really stood out to me because we know that Aiden’s family is wealthy, but it seems like how they came into wealth changed between the canvas and the webtoon. My guess is that they gave this aspect of his character to Logan, since his family is the one that has ties to the contamination facility (Or I could be completely wrong and this family “meeting” could be a reunion or dinner of some kind and not business related).

- Aiden has a fear of heights.

Weird, right? He’s so different in canvas it makes me appreciate his character in the webtoon lol, I like the direction they went in.

- Tyler blaming (?) Ashlyn.

Got a chuckle out of me ngl, good to know their beef is never ending (couldn’t find the exact screenshot I had in mind for the webtoon but ykwim)

- Party Rock Anthem

- Meeting up

Genuinely can not find the screenshot I’m looking for but anyway, In the canvas they never discuss meeting up because it’s the first night they’re there. Aiden and Ben also had drivers licenses (I’m assuming, cuz they both drive) which was another huge difference.

Things I wanna see in season 3

- Plot twist

Walk with me .. Ben and Ashlyn are still by their phantom selves, imagine if near the end of the season it’s revealed that the Ben that went home with Ashlyn isn’t the real Ben. 🤯🤯 (highly unlikely, she’d definitely be able to tell, but I thought it was cool)

- Character death

Mentioned briefly in my last post, but I want to GRIEVE !!

- More Taylor

Tbh who doesn’t want to see more of her. I remember when everyone was so hyped for her in the earlier episodes and I miss it !! Now that it’s just her and Logan, I really wanna see how they work together and how she’ll handle being separated from her brother.

- More Logan

He’s the least developed and before you guys start with your Aiden nonsense 🙄 I know that’s not saying much. Give me something to work with for him tho, I’m begging.

- Side characters

Nothing crazy yk.. Just some random background characters that help them on their way.. one and done !! Like Barron.

- More Aiden

This might come as a shock to some but I do LIKE Aiden .. when he’s not around Ashlyn. Don’t get me wrong, they’re cute, but I think to really understand his character he HAS to be with a character like Tyler who can understand some of the things he’s been going through. Tyler’s slowly but surely figuring him out, I can’t wait to see how he changes in season 3.

- Ben

Duh, He’s my FAVORITE and he’s paired with the MAIN CHARACTER. Other than more screen time, though, I really want to see his and Ashlyn’s dynamic. They’re such a strong duo. They had a lot of scenes together in the canvas version of school bus graveyard, so I’m interested to see if any of those moments will be referenced in season 3.

Coming back to this because I feel strongly about it

Ashlyn is punk because it’s a subculture centered around politics and music. I think it fits for her because she’s very outspoken in what she believes in.

Aiden being scene just made sense to me idk, the bright colors, the fashion, the music. Red also said that Aiden would’ve been a twitch streamer, which aligns with the MySpace era in the early 2010s.

BEN IS GOTH!!!!!! It’s a MUSIC based subculture which we all know Ben is very passionate about. They’re non-violent which makes sense because even though Ben has a violent history, he doesn’t necessarily like hurting people and it is something he is actively trying to work on. Being goth would allow Ben to be different without feeling ashamed for it like he was as a kid.

Tyler being emo .. hear me out on this. A core aspect of the emo subculture is expressing intense emotions, and Tyler is shown to be a very emotional character. Red also said that if he wasn’t pursuing baseball, he’d want to be a hairdresser, so he could give himself that iconic emo haircut.

Taylor being a metalhead was mostly a joke about her being in the mechanics club.. but it still fits. Most metal-heads feel a strong sense of belonging and camaraderie and find support within the community, and Taylor is fiercely loyal to her family.

Logan being a hippy was another one that just made sense to me If you know anything about the hippy subculture and how it came to be. I think it reflects nicely on his character, his family, his personality, his interactions with other characters (particularly baron), etc.
