I feel like Ashlyn and her parents WERENT dragged into a rift on the night of her birth, actually. Based on the way rifts work with the sbg kids and their injuries not transferring over from one dimension to the other, I guess I could see how Ash got her hearing altered as a tiny baby if she was fully born in the phantom dimension, because there wasn’t any body of hers to shift back to when the rift closed so the hearing damage copied over from the ‘original’. But there’s a discrepancy with the idea that I haven’t seen anyone point out yet: Mike.

He did not have his iconic facial scar before the encounter!

If this attack happened in the phantom dimension, then logically, the wound would have disappeared when they shifted back into the human reality.

So either there was something different about the nature of this rift than the one in the weed sorrel house, or, in my opinion: the Banners didn’t shift at all that night.

This is the first panel where a phantom shows up, and based on the red lighting, you could infer that they went into the phantom realm. BUT, the lighting at the abandoned building doesn’t have a solid blue to solid red chromatic abberation, like shifts are indicated earlier. Instead, there’s a much more gentle gradient.

Combined with the lack of the 3-D effect on the family, and Mike’s permanent facial scar as well as Ashlyn’s hyperacutitus being present always, not just when reality thins out, I don’t think they went into the phantom dimension at all! Instead:

Have you ever considered the fact that maybe Ben's voice doesn't sound bad at all? That his voice might be SIMPLY NORMAL??

Look-

Vocal cords normally take 2-6 weeks to start healing and making hearable voice again, even with injuries, they may take few months, BUT when the patient is -18, VOCAL CORDS HAVE THE HIGHEST CHANCE OF HEALING PERFECTLY-

 Also keep in mind that at that time he hadn't enter his puberty yet, and - as you know - voice changes once you start it, it's not just that his vocal cords healed while growing, it's the reality that he WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO KEEP HIS OLD VOICE ANYWAYS.

Even if his current voice sounds a little deeper than the others, it's probably just his genes ( I mean have you seen his dad?)

Like, He was too stubborn to give his voice another chance , too unsure to love it again, TOO ANGRY TO GIVE IT A TRY.

Maybe he just built his own cage by his own hands.,.

chat i may be stupid i was rereading chapter 66 and I noticed when Logan and Aiden were talking abt the video game they were playing in Ash's dream Logan said, "Go to the basement and move the box there's a hidden crawlspace". ashlyn feeling like she’s the blame for everything happening and feels that if she’s out of the picture everyone will be okay. she’d be willing to give up her own life in order to keep everyone else safe so she starts contemplating the idea of getting rid of herself. ofc everyone else would disagree with this idea. not to mention the (you guys are going to be so sick of me) AIDLYN ANGST !! that might go along with it. i mean you saw he reacted last chapter (and in chapter 39 on the rooftop) when he thought she got hurt so imagine her ACTUALLY being gone. same thing with everyone else. obviously if she told them about her little plan to ‘get out of the picture’ they would never agree because she’d. yknow. die.

i feel like all of them are going to die in the phantom dimension EVENTUALLY so when it comes to ashlyn’s turn… what if she feels relief instead? that maybe now everyone would be okay cause she’s gone? that things will be better that way? just a thought.

I just noticed this--

When we first see Ryan (unofficially), we see a crow along with him.

Crows tend to mean a few things, but this is the main thing that I'm looking at

Isn't it a bit funny? How (FAST PASS SPOILERS TO EPISODE 76!!!)

his first appearance on screen is specifically with a crow... and when we officially meet him, he's this hotheaded guy who just says anything anytime. However, the minute of said thing does end up being followed up, he becomes unsure, questioning if this is morally right.

Now, with the most recent fast pass episode (76), it truly comes together. He's giving advice to Alex about warning the kids, and even going as far as giving Alex his phone number on a phone so he could explain more, meaning he could help Alex more.

This right here, is a change. Ryan has an untold transformation from evil to good. He was meant to always be a good person, he just needed a change of heart.

I guess you could say it was destined for him to always betray Maverick and the cranes for the better good.

It's really hard to put in words, but I strongly believe that crow meant a change in morals. It seems like it was the case in terms of the newest episode.

How the kids are turning into phantoms

this is just a list thrown together about symptoms the kids are showing of turning into phantoms, although some may be wrong

(the humanoid phantoms, btw. not the centipedes. i doubt they could turn into Our Friend The Centipede unless theyre pursuing a career in tranformers)

darkening eyes + larger irises ( the most obvious point )

bulging veins ( this is said to decrease body temperature i think...... and also the humanoid phantoms are probably really cold too. but this is also a symptom of exerting force on your muscles like excercise so.... take that as you will )

showing / baring teeth (literally just look at the phatntoms. one of their main attributes is their teeth. the kids have been baring fangs for a while now )

seizures (this has only happened to like two people but..... thats when some of the above symptoms become more obvious )

increased aggression ( bc tell me why taylor and logan are suddenly punching people and shooting phantoms without hesitation ??? all of them move without hesitation now..... they used to be like really scared )

phantom noises ( as indicated by the funny red lines...... this one is also obvious )

better strength / regenerative abilities ( like the tyler scene..... also how aiden recovered from blunt force trauma AND swapping dimensions in like 5 min )

otherwordly communication ( mostly present in ashlyn; she can kinda speak w the phantoms and they kinda understand what she says )

I really wanna talk about this scene where “Logan saves Ashlyn” because I really believe it’s more than just that

I’m gonna be referencing mostly episodes 34, 35, 43, and 44 just in case you want to do your own digging 😋!

for starters I kinda bugs me when people brush this whole scene off as ‘Logan saving ash’ because 3 things:

1.) Logan saving Ashlyn didn’t really feel natural! mans was allllll the way in the graveyard, he was scared, it was dark, and he didn’t have any prior experience with using guns. but he still somehow did it in 1 shot. I honestly feel like that bit was so that he can’t be excluded from the later celebration and so that him being left behind had a purpose.

2.) ASHLYN WOULDVE SURVIVED WHETHER OR NOT HE MADE THE SHOT!!!!! if anything we’d probably learn a lot more about the phantoms if Logan had never shot his gun.

3.) I feel like Logan making the shot was suppose to distract us from the important lore aspect we see during the scene. we already know red loves throwing in foreshadowing and small hints for us. Especially when these hints get covered by other scenes so that we only notice them after we get the new information and we re-read old chapters. We can see an example of this in the same episode when Taylor offers to go see why Aiden was screaming and Tyler quickly takes action instead and sends her upstairs. it’s obvious that going back outside was the more dangerous option which is why Tyler told her she shouldn’t do it. But at the time many people brushed this off as Tyler caring about his sister as much as any brother would, and a part of his ‘jock/I’m bigger and better than everyone’ attuide seeping through. then later on in chapter 49, we learn about Tyler’s promise to always take care of Taylor and their mom, and we see how their safety is always his priority even if it’s to much for him. Taylor’s frown makes a lot more sense after we get this context.

Anyways what I’m trying to say is that I think Logan saving ash was suppose to draw away our attention to the whole reason he was even able to get the shot in the first place.

Ashlyn is convinced she’s gonna die here and this is her last effort to live. So very strong emotion. But pay attention to her voice box thing. It’s black and has the red streaks around it.

The phantom immediately pauses, as if it understands her. Also, it’s aggression vanished as soon as she spoke. This being LITERALLY TRYING TO KILL HER pauses and starts to question her!! In some twisted way Ashlyn can communicate with phantoms, or at the very least they can tell there is also a connection between her and them. This is literally so important and it’s not talking about enough. Even though no one has ever tried speaking directly to the phantoms before this, I do think this trait only belongs to ashlyn. For starters we already know that she has the strongest connection to the phantom world, and she’s the only one who can actually hear them. Her parents also said that they saw the phantoms after ashlyn was born. This is important for later on.

The only other time we ever see the black text bubble is here when Logan is mad (chapter 42) his shadow has also changed to his phantom world-self. Notice that even though his actions are connected to the phantom there is no red streaks next to his text box?

The fight obviously shows again that they affect the real world because their emotions and phantom and blah blah. This is all stuff we know. But hear me out! View their actions as if they are part phantom.

Ashlyn’s commanding them to do something while feeling strong emotions. Her text box is black with the red streaks again. Just like it was during the scene that ‘Logan saves her’.

And just like the phantom, all of them freeze and their violent behavior disappears. The fact that it’s all in sync and they all stop immediately shows that they didn’t just stop because their friend told them to. They stopped because Ashlyn’s commands have some strength to them. And remember earlier when I said think of them as part phantom? It makes sense why her commands would work, because it’s frozen a phantom before.

AND LOOK!!!! THEY SOUND JUST LIKE THE PHANTOMS! The fact that this guy doesn’t react to that statement means that his organization already knows this. They already know that the kids are partly related to the phantoms. Ashlyn’s especially.

I guess this can split into two ideas:

1.) Ashlyn’s becoming part phantom the fastest. And I don’t mean that she’ll eventually become a full phantom but idk how else to phrase it. Her words can already be understood by phantoms and they have enough impact to confuse and stop phantoms in place. The phantom tilting their head at Ashlyn was kinda like ‘how did you do that?’ .

2.) Ashlyn’s connection gives her semi-control over phantoms. This could be a skill she has to develop over time but the fact that her words were able to break that main cast out of their anger and brought them back into reality shows that they CAN listen to her commands. Either she’s not strong enough yet to control real phantoms or she can only stun them, ash was still able to communicate with the phantom.

That scene is such an important building block that people just brush over. I just don’t see a lot of people talking about the fact that Ashlyn can talk/control phantoms in a way. Or maybe she can’t and all of this means smth else but it’s still so important.

Also before ppl jump on me for saying Ash would’ve lived w/ or w/o logan:

Aiden was literally two seconds away from getting to ash. Plus the phantom was stunned. We don’t know if this hesitation would’ve lasted long or not, but it would’ve been enough time for Aiden to crawl to the top of the roof or for Ashlyn to kick it away. Ashyln was also in shock though so I’m not sure she would’ve been able to do much. But if Aiden saw the phantom on her he would’ve went crazy bro. Do not touch his girl ❌🙅‍♀️❌ All jokes aside though, we definitely would’ve learn more about the connection between Ashlyn and phantoms if Logan didn’t shoot. Not blaming him or anything but I’m just saying.

I had a sbg theory and to be honest I I’m pretty much positive that it’s not true but I thought it was a “fun” idea and would be interesting? (There’s a small fast pass spoiler about the facility)

So basically we know that the twins’ dad died but we never actually saw him die and we just saw him in the hospital in a lot of machinery

I can’t tell if this is him dead or just in a coma or smth but I was thinking what if he was infected and in a coma? We know that when your infected you go into a coma until you wake up and go feral.

And they have a whole ward for the infected who are in a coma. And since this whole facility is run by the government and they don’t want anyone to know about the infection it’s not hard to believe that they cover it up by pretending that the infected person died before moving them to the facility.

Also we know that they definitely can sneak people out the hospital because they managed to take both Tyler and his mum out with seemingly no problem.

Anyway that’s pretty much it, I doubt it’s true but I thought that it would be interesting to see the twins’ reaction to their “dead” dad especially if they are forced to fight him like Ashlyn was

Hear me out, they showed up the same day as the new teacher who’s been confirmed to be working with Crane (that’s what I’m calling them until someone tells me otherwise) and they immediately targeted Ashlyn

It could be luck they’re on the same bus, it could not be, we don’t know

We do know that Ashlyn had no intention of going on the field trip until aiden stalked her and convinced her parents to convince her

If it weren’t for him she never would have gotten to sorrel weed house which is where everything started and where Crane had been trying to lure her the whole time especially after the incident with her birth and the phantoms seemingly imprinting on her

(Which is approximately half my basis for why they don’t have a fungus causing hallucinations, cause that means ash and her parents would have contracted it when she was a baby, so it wouldn’t be having the same effect on her as the others in their group)

Also, if this is true I don’t think aiden is doing this of his own free will, cause I think either his parents work for/run Crane, so he got dragged into it (would explain why they’re never around and why they never call to ask questions about what he’s doing or spending all this money on)

or Crane captured them and turned them into phantoms or the weird half and half things Ashlyn’s about to half to interact with so he’s doing it to save them

ok so I don’t believe Aiden is dead. there’s a lot of reasoning behind why I think this, but it’s very vauge because all my theories lead down two separate paths.

SBG CHAPTER 60 SPOILERS AHEAD

idk if y’all noticed the computer like affect around this scene but it only happens three times. All of which are in Ashlyn’s perspective of the incident.

in the second photo, the computer like fliter only appears on ashylns face, the view of Aiden is mostly clear.

I have a lot of questions, and I haven’t picked a theory/explaintion for sure yet, but one of my ideas are that it’s Ashlyn’s fear completely taking over here. We already knew from the beginning of sbg that ashyln often doubts what she sees, as if she doesn’t trust her eyes to tell the truth. we’ve seen her make up excuses and fake scenarios to cope with her reality and things she’s doesn’t understand. This is not her fault though, as we’ve seen it links back to her childhood.

She can often times be pessimistic about situations, always readying for the worst situation to happen as if it’s the only way things could go down. This also relates to her childhood.

Given these two facts, as well as the disorienting fliter over Aiden’s body and her facial expressions, i think it’s safe to assume that Aiden’s injuries are not as life threatening as they appear to be. Yes, I know a ceiling fell on him, I’m not saying he’s not badly injuried. But I don’t think it will provoke a reaction in his real-world body as it did for Tyler, or at least not one as serious.

this side of his face is almost completely fine, minus a few bruises (given some are from the car crash). although, since it’s a head injury, it only takes one side of his head to be damaged for it to be life threatening. But the biggest impact is to his jaw/cheek, not necessarily his skull.

also, the computer-like fliter goes away as soon as another person is thrown into the equation. The streaks return to their normal color of white, and the werid glitch affect on them disappear.

see how the streaks start glitching as soon as ashlyn notices Aiden’s in deathly trouble? Almost as if it’s not real/something is off. We’ve never seen these glitches before (trust me I pay attention to these things).

anyways back to the image before this where Taylor grabs Aiden. The fliter is gone, and ashlyn snaps back into reality with the help of Taylor and her instructions. Taylor’s reaction is to immediately get Aiden under something safe. This part gets a little messy since we don’t have any scenes after this to show which explaintion makes more sense but wtv. Either Taylor is full of adrenaline and is in full protection mode, which is why she doesn’t hesitate to drag Aiden to safety, or she’s aware that his injuries aren’t as bad as Tyler’s / they’re not life threatening. A blow to the face will 9/10 knock you unconscious, regardless of how powerful the hit was. Taylor may have assumed that’s what had happened to Aiden, and she didn’t have time to second guess herself. She is done letting things harm her brother and friends. Anyways, her stepping into action grounds ashlyn and pulls her back to reality.

Also, this scene looks familiar doesn’t it? In the second image, the group was unable to control their emotions and were acting on pure adrenaline and feeling. Ashlyn is obviously experiencing a strong mix of fear, stress, and past trauma. If these two images are comparable, ashlyn mentally assuming/seeing the worst of the situation is not unusual.

Basically, I feel this event is exaggerated because ashyln is trying to cope with the situation. Understand that she is blaming herself for everything right now. Tyler flew out of the car just yesterday. She found him on tree just a few hours ago. She was the one who sedated him. She pulled him off the tree. She saw everything first hand, she felt the most guilty/responsible. Ashlyn has always been the one emphasizing how dangerous their situation is, but to finally see it happen right before your eyes is traumatic.

Aiden has been her main source of comfort since day 1, ashlyn has a soft spot for Aiden. He is her rock of support. So, after seeing Tyler’s ‘death’ and the affect it had on him irl, it’s not crazy to believe she is exaggerating watching Aiden ‘die’. It also makes sense because she’s watching it happen right before her eyes, while she only saw the aftermath of Tyler’s ‘death’. Ashlyn convinced herself Aiden died because she’s not in the right headspace / not mature enough to process it properly. None of them are.

I know a lot of people are speculating that the glitching effect + fliter is them shifting back into their reality since ashlyn said they only had 3 mins left, but I disagree. Lmk if that explaintion would intrest you lot.

again this is all just speculation that is quite underdeveloped. I just wanted to share it before I lost my train of thought. thank u for reading 😋

-Unless (unless) my Phantom Ashlyn theory is relevant, ashlyn can talk to them and tells them to go away and they… do! idk lol it's stupid but maybe ash has enough girl boss energy to convince them. or theyre so shocked by a human talking to them theyre like "dang ok". Could still happen! 

NUMBER TWO: Phantom Transformation Theory

So it’s Basically confirmed: 

If you die in the PD, you start to turn into a Phantom.

Of course we wont know for sure until we actually SEE it but like, Aiden’s creepy af smile and basically coming back to life in ashlyn’s arms after DYING it’s like, basically confirmed. 

Ash wonders why Aiden snapped out of his seizure so fast compared to Tyler. Severity of injuries could definitely be a factor (tho like, im assuming Aiden got freaking blunt force trauma brain damage which, to me, is just as bad as being impaled). Another factor could be that Tyler died only about 30 minutes into the Time, while Aiden died almost right when it ended. And… we saw how fast Aiden started to “turn”. Red technically never shows us Tyler during those hours after he died. He very well… may have completely phantomized, but when he woke up in the real world, the transformation reverted. I'm very scared abt what Aiden’s gonna be like next night.

SUB THEORY: The Power of Human Connection and Phantom Reversal

Remember how Jasmine (the gang tour girl) asked if it was alright that all the kids got sucked in w/ ashlyn? This implies that 

1. They usually expect 1 person/their target to get sucked into the PD

2. The origami gang has never dealt with a group being sucked in at once

- I believe (and the evil gang doesnt know this) that the kids being together is an integral part of their future survival. Tyler snapped back to consciousness in the hospital after Taylor had her PISSED moment. This moment was similar to Logan’s freakout, in that it tugged the phantom world to the real world, for a second. I think these intense emotions (taylor’s specifically out of anger and worry for her twin), pulled tyler’s “soul” out of the PD and into the RD. 

- Now, you may ask, “what abt if a random person got into the PD and died and went into a seizure/coma? Why couldnt their loved ones “bring” them back?” thats a good Q idk. Perhaps the kids all being in the PD together is what creates this flow, a two-way street, between the two dimensions. 

- Anyway also while Ashlyn and co didnt didnt get into an angry freakout moment when Aiden died, but we all know Ash and Aiden got something developing/going on thats special ♥, and thats what tugged Aiden back (its cliche but its the power of love there i said it). 

- Also NOT saying that the other kids’ concern over their friends doesn’t matter or count (Ben and Aiden are Fam too), but like, i’m wondering if it needs to be a REALLY INTENSE love (familial/romantic/whatever) in order to basically bring someone back from the dead. idk

-interestingly, ty WAS essentially in a coma-like state, like how the spy said, which supports that it’s expected that ppl die in the PD eventually, and go into comas. I’m wondering if those who normally get sucked into the PD and die, theyre dealing with it by themselves, have no one to “pull them back” like taylor and/or ashlyn did, and they stay in a coma. 

-rlly hope the boys arent like “possessed” or smn. Maybe the soul is like, tainted? Those big black eyes man… (ALSO THAT PREVIEW IMAGE WITH LOGAN AND THE BIG BLACK EYES??? WHAT??)

-going off the dead PD ppl turn into phantoms theory>> If a phantom is killed, their connected person in the RD who was in a coma dies fr permanently

NUMBER THREE: Ashlyn and the Phantoms (cool new band name) 

we know the kids are getting influenced by the PD, making phantom noises (further supports phantoms were people theory) but with Ashlyn's "really strong" connection to the PD, she's in special danger. If one can turn into a phantom without dying, it's gonna be her. Ryan the spy said that "the girl" – assumingly ashlyn– should be "especially" at risk of danger. This could be bc she was the one who interacted with the rift, or bc she already has a higher level of phantom influence on her. 

-when ashlyn told the phantom to let go, and her friends to calm down, both times she spoke with a black speech bubble WITH PHANTOM NOISE LINES NEAR IT. this is different than characters who have also spoken with black bubbles (aiden, logan, taylor). obviously these have been with threats/malice, but they didn't have the red lines. These times ashlyn has spoken, the phantom acknowledged her voice, and her friends' spell-like violence trance was broken. Theory: ashlyn not only can hear phantoms, but she can speak their language sort of

-when ashlyn was born, a phantom like touched her in a blessing/cursing sense which is part of the reason why she can hear phantoms and her strong PD connection. possibly even possession???? 

-tldr i want ashlyn to enter her monster girl era 

The evil gang seems confused why the kids have lasted so long. maybe Ashlyn's PD connection goes both ways. she provides a strong anchor to the RD. Maybe the PD is USUALLY all desolate with the pillars that we saw in the finale (maybe it's even an afterlife of sorts?), but Ashlyn makes a huge radius (~30 miles! (assuming kids were driving at least 60mph for 30 minutes)) of the PD around where she wakes up mirror the real world, creating a safer space for her and the kids. meanwhile a normal person that gets sucked into the PD gets thrown into a desolate hell world different from the RD (also maybe stuck there permanently), causing them to die much quicker. 

-maybe this influence is even part of the reason why RD tyler is awake (And aiden)

-Ashlyn's influence extends to jamming the recording devices like some kind of weird phantom static.

-Broke: Ashlyn's parents wanted her to learn self defense and have a knife bc they're in the military. Woke: they want her to be able to protect herself after the phantom scare when she was a baby

-Also THANK GOD she’s finally acting on her intuition. Sm times she’s been like “this feels bad!” and doesnt do anything. Almost makes me wonder if it’s a supernatural intuition based on phantom stuff. Like shes WAY OFF from the hospital and the drama and is like “HMM! Smn going on” 

NUMBER FOUR: Origami gang and Co INC. 

-The gangs symbol is an origami crane (orizuru). the crane in East Asia has longevity as one of its symbolisms, with some myths saying it flies souls up to paradise. there's the popular myth that if you fold 1000 cranes you get a wish.

Heres where the evil twist comes in. The gang boss believes that if he traps 1000 people in the PD as like, a sacrifice, then he'll get a wish and he'll ask for eternal life or whatever. this gang is a cult and he's tricked everyone saying that they'll also get a long life but really it's probably only gonna be him 🤫 So they go around to different haunted places in America and pick ppl they sense can open these shadow rifts and get sucked in. the phantoms may be ppl they trapped in the past and they've turned into phantoms

-Ryan, the guy who's spying on the kids, maybe is ALSO "Mr. thomas". he just puts on a wig and is a good actor lol. this is the reason why he asks about "Mr. Thomas's" fate. What goes against this is that Ryan seems to know all about the PD mechanisms, which doesn't fit Mr. Thomas being confused abt ashlyns hair. Unless he wasn't expecting it

– or "Mr thomas" could just be Ryan's friend or brother or smn. A low ranked guy in the gang that got stuck with roping Ashlyn into Savannah, but doesn't know the truth/details about the PD. 

-the gang mentions that "both sides" are trying to track them. either the government and a supernatural hunting group, or even some force in the PD like some Alpha Phantom like the devil who's like "Where's my dead people quota hello?" or better yet "you're messing with MY domain and I'm gonna Get You". 

-This is based solely on the Boss' appearance and smiling countenance: the gang Boss is Aiden's uncle, his dad's brother, his weird, estranged brother who's also evil probably. I'm really hung on this idea don't mind me 

-you have to be able to make a paper origami crane from memory to be an official gang member /hj 

NUMBER FIVE: Gen story/Character arcs and futures

-ready for a “power of love and friendship” aesop. these kids are gonna be so Bonded now after these traumatic experiences

- SO NOW that all the parents know, and like, have seen all the phantoms and everything and BTW WILL PROBABLY GET SUCKED INTO THE PD AT SOME POINT because they felt the shift like the kids did, they help the kids get to Savannah yippee!! a cool Big family squad force they all hop on a working school bus or smn and drive there. PLs

- the families getting sucked in would be HUGE cause they arent prepared. Logan’s grandparents and Lily are top targets 😭

So the kids are gonna get kidnapped. that's definitely gonna be a thing, either mid S2 or ending. up in the air whether the kidnapping is successful or not. (assuming the gang would be smart enough to get rid of the kids’ phones when they get them)

-actually I'm placing my bets now S2 finale will be them getting kidnapped and it just cuts off there for another awful cliffhanger.

-since it seems Mr thomas will be involved, he'll ask the kids to stay after school to talk abt their failing grades or smn, and then maybe they're hit with knockout gas??

OR the gang has been spying on them so they pick a time the kids all separated and jump them. 

-maybe this is when aiden knowing where ashlyns dance studio is is actually plot relevant!!?? like he (and Ben probably cuz they're always together) are able to escape their attackers and Aiden goes to help ashlyn cuz he wants to make sure she's OK. and she's either fine cuz she's a girl boss and can kick butt, or he saves her oo la la 

–lol imagine kidnapping is successful, gang tells kids why they were kidnapped, (if Evil Boss Uncle theory is true this helps facilitate this) but Ashlyn "goes off" on Aiden yelling and "attacking" him and stuff saying he's part of the gang, he planned it all along etc, but it's all a ruse to have the gang think she'll cause another energy spike (and Aiden gets this and plays along) so assuming the kids are locked up, the gang opens their cell to stop ashlyn, and that's when they escape lol

so like, i THOUGHT ashlyn/aiden was gonna be a slow burn but HAHAHA. i mean not as freaking slow obviously as like Miraculous love square lol, but like slow for thriller standards? But things are gonna be heating up between these two 😏 watch ashlyn be ~conflicted~ and ~in denial~~. And meanwhile poor aiden is a confused boy who doesnt know what ash wants like “b u told me to give u space and now here u are grasping my hand like ur life depends on it” 

Sorry back to character arcs:

Ashlyn: Learn to trust and connect with people, make friends, lean on others. Could be nice if she accepts and admits the kids are her friends by the end of S2, leaving the next season for Aiden/Ashlyn dev specifically? More development about her connection with the PD, which could put friendship to the test. [already getting this with her dad and Aiden so this is great]

Also she has the freaking GUILT like i expected! Watch her think tay hates her for like a week before tay is like “no?? I hate the ppl who did this to us instead” and then they hug it out 👍

Taylor: Willing to bet money the twins are unhealthily codependent on each other. She is on the edge bro. Unhinged feral. Is probably gonna be more angry in general despite it being a bad idea, like the top has been blown off. Bottled up emotions~! 

Still thinking she’ll get close to Ben too (whether anything romantic develops on top of it is debatable, but I can see it. theyve already got a cute little closeness going on)..

Tyler: Get this boy some ~THERAPY~ help he’s so depressed and angry. Learn to have hope again (like ben 😭). He has so much negativity inside him, i dont think that’ll help with whatever is going on with him rn like, hes probably in the THICK of the PD influence. He’s kinda like ash, needs to learn to rely on others.

Logan: Seems to be overcoming his fragility well if the arcade scene is any indication. Still has self-worth issues to overcome due to his parents' abandonment. Maybe we'll learn more about that in S2. That could be a rumor and the real reason he lives with his grandparents is that his parents died but idk why that'd be hidden unless their death was suspicious (like, drug ring?? His gpa got the GOODS APPARENTLY). 

Ben: Still needs to find a new passion for life, i suspect playing musical instruments like the guitar will be the answer (thank you tyler). Tho maybe learning to love his altered voice could happen? (tons of dudes have a rough/husky singing voice that ppl love) But this is probably unlikely.  

Aiden: Good Lord like, Aiden being (most likely) suic.idal in the past (and possibly even still NOW?) has floored me. I figured his loneliness and suspected parental neglect was bad but IT’S BAD. Dude wants to feel alive and not depressed… frick. AIDEN ARE YOU going to therapy??? Do your parents KNOW??? Is that why your parents finally settled down?? Guh. this on top of probably untreated ADHD.

–I’m assuming now Aiden started dying his hair to try to get any fragment of serotonin. 

– Kinda wondering if he grew up in a "toxic positivity" mentality home, where his parents are like "we're so privileged we shouldn't complain" ?

-the tour lady Jasmine and the Boss are a hot evil couple 

also kinda want them to have a Rourke & Helga dynamic where he throws her under the bus at the last moment and she's Bissed

–i doubt a redemption arc will happen but I'd be down for it if done well.

It's possible that the Phantom Dimension is contagious. I think that the kid's parents were able to see the Phantoms because of the kids? Or is it because Ashlyn was born? I tried to connect the pieces and found out more.

There were possibly people that discovered Phantoms before Ashlyn and the others did. That is probably true because of the writing in the bus "we were here". So before the School Bus Graveyard became a graveyard for buses, it was probably a hideout for the people that found the Phantoms first.

Or am I just going out of path? I don't know.

I don't think that the people who kidnapped the kids are necessarily lying to them. They're just genuinely clueless. I think the fungus is a part of it but not in the way they think? Maybe the fungus is what opens / weakens the rift between the two worlds? the same fungus could've been in the woods/building during ashlyns birth as well, which is why the phantom was there. However, i think the paper cranes do know about the monsters or, at the very least, they know about the other dimension. (Side note: I don't think Alex or Mr. Thomas are part of the paper cranes despite Mr. Thomas having a few of them on his desk, since the boss plans on "making him dissappear" later, and Mr. Thomas tells ashlyn that she is, in fact, sick.) They're just a shadier group within the Contamination Facility, yk? I don't think they're all bad

I also think that all the kids we see that are in comas are alive, but they're stuck in the phantom realm after ashlyn and the group go to savvanah, since Jasmine says that the rift was permanently closed afterward

Anyway (deadass forgot what I was talking about) when the kids meet up at the gas station and go back to the graveyard, I can only assume there weren't any roots and vines on the streets due to the reaction they all had when they saw them. My guess is that the constant back and forth between the two worlds is having an effect on the environment. It could also be that now that a few months have passed and the rift is closed, the phantom dimension isn't 100% connected to the real one like it used to be, and is able to grow vines, fungus, and those weird rock pillars without them being present in the real world.

I think what happens to the kids' injuries is similar to what happens to phantoms when they're around light. They can't actually die from their wounds like how phantoms can't die from lights, but it will still affect their separate bodies (real world and phantom) like how the light makes the phantoms lose their form (idk how to word that)

So, I have a theory (A WEBTOON THEORY) about the diff types of phantoms and where they come from in the first place. I think they come from people who have been corrupted by the weird shifted world. Because imagine, you and your friends are suffering every night alone trying to live and find out how to make the nightmare end. There are no monsters but you are slowly growing sick of each other and running out of patience. At some point you would just loose it and go crazy. And imagine if the price for giving in to your thoughts and aggressiveness is turning into a phantom. That would explain why they only really seem to show phantom-like behavior when they are upset or stressed (or dead). What if the single humanoid phantoms are singular people while those centipede things are the amalgamations of people who all turned into phantoms at the same time and got stuck together? If this is the case then they probably started off smaller and when more people ended up making the same mistake they just ended up merging instead of being killed. Ok my rant is over now, bye !
