San Diego Temple

This is my rendition of the San Diego Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I thought it was such a beautiful building and I really wanted to see if I could do it. I think it turned out quite nice.

Windmill

This windmill is based on several different windmills in the Netherlands and Denmark. I also had input from a couple of friends in the EU. This is a working windmill using the Create mod and provides useful power to other machines in the mod.

I just updated my Minecraft modpack, Create on a Potato PC with the mod, Create v0.3.2c. This version has many exciting new additions. There are many updated mods, including Allomancy and Feruchemy, and the FTB suite of mods. I added a recipe to make Botania, Living Root for those who do not want to play Garden of Glass skyblock and still complete the Botania quests.

I would have liked to have updated it a few weeks ago, but my dysautonomia and fibromyalgia reared their ugly heads and I have been wiped out these past few weeks. One of the things I have discovered is when I get an immunization shot, I need to receive it in my leg and not my arm. In March I received my first and second Covid shots in my right arm and after the last shot, my arm started aching a lot! I massaged my arm from day one, but the pain still came. By July I could hardly move my arm without a lot of pain. A little over a week ago I started physical therapy, and while it helped, I got so weak I could barely do anything. So I have been resting a lot, watching Netflix and Amazon most days. Today, I felt well enough to update my modpack and hope to be able to play Minecraft this week and maybe do some streaming on Twitch.

First Successful Stream!

After much hair-pulling and throwing fits, I finally got a decent stream, though my voice was too quiet in the beginning. I imaging I will keep fine-tuning the settings until I look and sound like a pro - an old dried-up prune, but a PRO! You can see my latest stream here on Twitch.

I'm a Streamer

Well, I'm trying to be a Twitch streamer. Yesterday, I did stream my modpack, 99 Mods on the Wall. However, I forgot to make sure the setting for saving streams was on, so nothing was saved. So today, I will try again, but this time I have enabled "Store past broadcasts" as shown below.

Once I get everything figured out I will try to post a schedule for streaming, though it may be a challenge since my health often does not cooperate. My Twitch channel is /claudiusminimus

Streaming Goal Idea - Reaching out to others like me

My idea for my streaming channel is to reach out to the community of individuals who are afflicted with disabilities and particularly to those with neurological disorders, specifically dysautonomia (Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction). I have found for myself playing Minecraft is something I can do when I am feeling well enough. Even when I don't feel well, I can often just go mining or as I like to say "go bang rocks". I find Minecraft relaxing, stimulating, and sometimes invigorating.

I will be interested to see if others can enjoy the benefits of Minecraft that has blessed my life.

One of the things about Minecraft modpacks is they can difficult to run on some older PCs. After the success of 99 Mods on the Wall, I decided to make a lightweight pack, also based on the mod, Create. And so, Create on a Potato PC was born in Feb 2021. I was amazed at the popularity of the pack as it quickly surpassed 99 Mods in total downloads! Here is a video I made showing my base on our Bisect Hosting sponsored server.

99 Mods on the Wall is a fun fun-packed Minecraft modpack featuring the incredible mod, Create! Since December 2020 thousands of players have enjoyed playing.

The Vision of an Egg

For past two weeks, my vision has been challenged, so I have to take a bit of a break from Minetest. My left eye sees what looks like an egg overlaying the center  of my vision, which makes playing, reading, and writing somewhat difficult. Therefore, I am resting for the most part and enjoying time with my grandchildren. The good news is, this has apparently happened before, but not in the middle of my vision, so I did not notice it. If like before, this should resolve in the next 2-3 months, though, if I can, I hope to be back in action sooner. I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible outpouring of support and friendship from the leaders and Minetest players of Illuna. If you have not visited or played on Illuna, then you are missing out of some great times. I hope to see you there soon!

New Roman Villa Project on Jungle Minetest Server

It seems I never have enough projects...ha! While looking to learn the technic mod better for our upcoming Technicworld on Illuna I started playing on two different very fun servers with the mods: technic, pipeworks, and mesecon. The first was the King Arthur minetest server, which I will write about soon. The other server, Jungle, which is where I have started building Römische Villa Borg, in Saarland (Germany).

I have completed the courtyard, and started the facade of the main manor building.  Besides this building, there will be a bathhouse, support staff and kitchen and more. It is an amazing villa, and I hope I do it justice when complete.

I made an observation platform about 60 blocks up so I could get a good view of the villa as it progress. Here you can see the top of the manor house and the central courtyard.

As with my other builds, I will posted updated images as the villa rises from the voxel ground

Beaumeris Castle

Boy did I pour a lot of lava! Thousands of buckets of lava! The moat you see is hand built in Minetest from lava source blocks deep in a cave realm on the Illuna.rocks Minetest server. Now I cannot take all the credit myself, another player in (a good friend) that goes by the name of noob101 helped me a TON! He gathered probably 80% of the lava from huge lava lakes and lava falls. 

With a lava moat surrounding Beaumeris Castle, I had to find a way for safe entry. I saw another player suspend lava in mid-air, or so it seemed. The Minetest Mesecons mod has what is called ghoststone. Ghoststone is a stone that when it is placed it appears normal black stone block, but when a mesecon signal is passed to it, the block vanishes, but the lava does not know that. So I started thinking...hmm... how can I use this visual trick? Here is what I did...

I dug a hole in the front tower and built a staircase to go underground, then...

At the bottom of the stairs I started a tunnel...

I continued the tunnel towards the castle...

Directly under the lava moat! 

The tunnel leads to a two staircases the lead up into the castle.

I am really please with the way this turned out. An interesting thing about ghoststone is that if you are brave or lacking intellect, then you can dive into the lava moat and hopefully fall through into the tunnel safely. The faster you are the better, the first time I did it I took some damage. Now, its easy, though I do have mithril armor to protect these old bones.

Some may wonder if this fun castle was made with World Edit: The answer is. No! Every block, bucket of lava, and specialty items were dug, crafted, and hand placed. Here is one of the mines I have used to build Beaumeris.

Minetest helps me feel like a boy again

After nearly six decades of life and nearly three decades of illness my body is getting tired, so when I started playing Minetest, I could once again climb the walls, slay dragons (not that I ever did) and play like I did as a boy. It seems the boy gets older, but never fully grows up. The old man wants to sleep and rest, but the boy...now he loves to play, dig, and build. I would like to share the fun times I have playing this free open source voxel based game, which some call virtual Legos® . I also own and play Minecraft, but prefer the game-play, performance, and community of the Minetest world.
