Since this is "ask me anything" I guess I'll ask: as someone who is so motivated and insightful, how do you find ways to give yourself grace and not let personal expectations overtake your joy? That's really a leading question so I'll tell you why I ask it. I am a 50-ish author who has been writing for decades. I wanted to explain the concept of psychic distance to a newer writer and I came across your youtube video on third person limited and psychic distance. I was absolutely enthralled by it. You explained nuanced topics that it took me years to understand. I was impressed by your thoughtful insights and helpful examples. It's really the best video on psychic distance I've ever seen.

Then I checked out your channel and saw the amazing library of advice you have created. It is overwhelming and makes me a little envious. I signed up for Tumblr today just so I could reach out and say how grateful I am for that fantastic video. When I came here I read some comments and I saw that you're 23 and you perhaps feel like you are not getting as many views as you'd like. I agree that you deserve more views, and I'm certainly going to funnel viewers your way. But what I really want to say, if you will forgive the unsolicited opinion, is that you are more accomplished at 23 than most of the 50+ writers I know. You will find an audience and get the recognition that you've earned. The hard work you have put in will reap rewards. They say it is never too late to start doing what you love. I feel like you are a great example of embracing what you love early and showing dedication to it. So thank you for the inspiration.

To answer your question, I think I know I’m a very soft person lol so I try to structure my life with that in mind. It helps that I’ve not really been one to put myself down, but I think actively making sure to tell yourself you’re doing okay is a big part of it. Sometimes it’s hard to be positive but I think it’s interesting you think of me as motivated and insightful, because I don’t usually. I think that shows that other people generally show us a lot more grace than we do for ourselves, so why not give ourselves that same grace? :)

ahhhh just seeing this now right after a long day of editing a video, and the timing is perf...! it's been mentally tough the last few months. I've been good at not caring about analytics/not comparing myself because on a very human level, I don't care about that sort of thing anymore, but I think with how much effort goes into making vids, it can be a little demoralizing when I don't see the numbers to back it up. But I always know there are amazing viewers (like you!) who are always there, and that's what's most important! :)))
