I played around with my layout some more and how to go about it. I ended up going with a zine, of work I have made that I am especially proud of. As I haven't had the chance to make a zine of my own yet in the 3.5 years I have been attending school, so I took the opportunity to (potentially) save some time binding and sewing. I decided to go with some of my physical 3D work I've made over the last year or so, as it felt like the next best thing to doing a grad gallery portfolio.
I used subtler hints from either my grad show project or the living:room theme to continue this line of thinking. using the pinks from the style guide we put together, and a heart and cat shape I incorporated both into a border that I feel isn't to jarring or heavy. I chose to make it simple, due to decision fatigue and poor time management skills I thought I had under better control (we ball). If I did it again I may have attempted to create something a bit longer, however I would have attempted to print something like 2 zines and combine them together somehow. Now to work on my folding skills, as my cutting skills have... improved.
For this project I really appreciated the instructor being flexible and the most understanding guy ever, having us do this assignment. It definitely helped myself and many of my classmates check every box we needed to to finish off our program.

For the final push we were tasked with creating a analogue portfolio.
For my grad project I created a magic shop and all the wares that go in it. I started with wanting to make a portfolio that showcased the work I had made for the 2025 grad gallery. To do this I thought of how it would be displayed, and decided on a magic grimoire (a magic book filled with magic knowledge) as it would be a cute way to tie everything together I played around with page layout by making a template and trying different things with it. I also attempted to use some motifs from the my grad show to create a border of sorts, will continue to refine
*This idea however was later scratched as in order to make this happen my deadlines would have had to move up, and that... did not happen I'd have to finish and photograph all of my pieces, edit the pictures, compile it into a printable digital version, edit that version, and then print it out before April 12th

Applied 2 - Create an App 3
The saga continues
With our what and why covered we move to the how. Unfortunately figma had changed a bit since I least used it and this caused far more issues than originally thought.
Thankfully I was able to figure out that you can still create components and how that works now, not to much change once understood. I did a lot of the wire framing as I went, as I find that quite easy, just keeping in mind how a user might navigate in an app, and having multiple click points so that there arn't any navigation dead ends. I had to completely redo my assets as they didn't get applied to the correct layers, this was a longterm problem I kept unknowingly making worse as I worked.
this was remedied by a great deal of tears and threats of quitting, however after a snickers we persisted.
If I had more time (in my own personal scheduling/ lack thereof rather then allowed time to complete this project) I would have illustrated the cat/cute companion as well as the customization options and the choosable backgrounds however I decided completing what I could was preferable.

Applied 2 - Create an App 2.0
With knowing we are going for cuteness and a happiness journal, one might remember that journals can sometimes get boring, so having a sense of guilt to return to the cute companion to care for it or interact with it, just because it is cute. HOWEVER life is hard enough and we don't need virtual souls on our hands, so while the cute companions may be sad or mad at ones interaction they WILL NOT DIE. This is supposed to be chill.
Another aspect I'd like to incorporate to encourage repeated use of the app if a wall of fuzzies, so all the images (and text attached) one uploads will be compiled into an easy to view area, with a monthly notification prompting you to revisit your warm and happy moments.
I like pink and softer aesthetics so my app will also emulate that color scheme, with a more hand drawn looking typeface.

Applied 2 - Create an App
We were tasked with creating a phone app, can be about anything but we should try to design it with longevity in mind, with the intent that it would be used and not deleted from someones phone (used a lot)
For this project I really wanted to make something cute, and possibly use that cuteness in some way to motivate the continued use of my app. I decided to create a mixture between a tomogachi and a happiness journal. I find that everyday life makes remembering our happy or joy filled moments harder than it should be. So I designed an app that would help record your daily moods, act as a journal, as well as come with a cute customizable companion to care for (likely a cat).

Grad Show, updated
We started working on what we are ideally making for our individual art projects that will be in the Student Art Exhibition. Bringing in examples of work in the particular discipline we are thinking of and presenting them to the class. We spoke on the name of the Gallery again, verbally voting on it once again. Narrowing it between Wild card and Living room. Living Room - Those who love it love it, those who don't seem to Viscerally HATE It Wildcard - Those who love it love it, those who don't just seem to not like it? We were tasked with creating 20-30 thumbnails for ideating on what will be made, what projects will look like or be about. I personally would like to focus my final projects on Physical 3d prop making - not a cosplay business, just making mock fantasy weapons, either recreating existing things like from shows or games, or to design and create my own creations. Intaglio / Print relief - I would like to see which I like better and make a series or digitize a few and create prints from them, focusing on having physical items for sale. update: Both of the class instructors met and have decided our name will be Living room, claiming better marketability and ephemera - half the class was pleased the other held back their contempt. I will do my best to make my classmates dream come alive but I have decided that I will not be an idea guy for the general visual identity of the show. Point me at a task and I will get it done.

Grad Show 2025 - updated 3.0
- Create a body of work that will be displayed at our on campus and a local gallery (so ideally make at least 2 projects) - A Proposal and Timeline for our projects - Artist statement and Portfolio (digital and physical) - Pick a name for the title or overall theme of the gallery identity
We started Ideating on what our name/theme for our Student Artwork Exhibition will be. we started calling things out and writing them, on a blackboard, but that felt like whoever had the loudest voices had the floor, making it harder for weaker speakers to say their piece. Continued working on naming, we tried something new. instead of verbally brainstorming we tried brain writing, where everyone writes ideas down and pins them to the wall. Voting on what names or ideas were disliked, liked and them arranged them in popularity. This felt more productive and was better at getting the full group to pitch ideas. We have narrowed it down to 4 Wildcard Fishbowl Living Room Threads I like Wildcard, adds an element of chance, luck, anything goes, a good hand vs a bad hand. Im ok with Threads, makes me think of the red string of fate theory. I can get behind Fishbowl, I think it would be weird ephemera for a Gallery Identity. I hate Living room, it feels boring, everyday and uninspired.

Assignment 3 - Brand Identity
Nov 25 - 29th
• Jagoware, the unconventional way to decorate your home with the pieces you can't find anywhere else
• I looked into what other clay artists are doing and how I can differentiate my brand from them. I found a lot of earth colors, and most brand logos all look the same.
• I started ideations on what my logo might look like playing with imagery, text and emblems
• thinking about how I'd like to market my brand and advertise

Assignment 3 - Brand Identity
Nov 20 - I began researching.
First, I started with a few ideations about my brand's name, focusing on cute, chaotic, handmade clay and ceramics and my name. I also started thinking about what I want my logo to look like; I'd like to use some sort of wordmark, possibly with a shape or negative space within the word that is pottery-related. (although a great deal of pottery logos contain some sort of clay vessel)
After meeting with my instructor and getting the go ahead with my brand idea. I have been urged to make this project as real as possible, thinking of a possible future endeavour.
So I will focus on the ideals and logistics of the brand as well as what the visual identity consists of.
After ideating with some classmates on what to call my brand, I think we came up with one that incorporates my name and clayware.

Assignment 3 - Brand Identity
We have been tasked to create a brand identity tailored to ourselves in any creative field. So we can research and understand what marketing ourselves in the future might be like and find examples of what we think works and what doesn’t. Creating a brand new brand identity, a logo (with several alternate variations), a visual identity guide, and an artifact (mock up or real) either for something we already are doing or something new, with a small presentation on what we have come up with at the end of the project.  To produce something we are proud of and can potentially use in our portfolios. Nov 18 - Nov 20 Figuring out what I am doing for this project, I worry about making something good enough to put in my portfolio and what I can make that would be marketable. Both the art and the brand identity I am crafting for myself. I worry that my work isn't at the level that I think it should be to sell it, but the point of the assignment is more to make a brand for yourself and make it good. This is not an easy thing to do when you rarely think your work is good yourself (they say you are always your biggest critic). I could do something with pottery, or I could do photography or maybe even painting. I think the most important task is coming up with something that I will be proud of, but being my own biggest critic I worry about my artistic abilities and the overall honesty of what I turn in. Ill begin researching more into example businesses/brands once meeting with my instructor.

Assignment 2 - Visual Presents
Picking a Gallery name
I want to feature an artist growth over time and dedication, featuring the then and now of their work and seeing how much artists have advanced.
Gallery theme / names:
Evolution - change, expand, growth, progress, transformation
Reflections - observation, rumination
Revelation - discovery, epiphany
Transition - conversion, shift, metamorphosis, transit
Discovery - determination
Growth - success, prosperity
Metamorphosis - transformation, complete character, rebirth, development, cycle
Gallery Activities / Interaction
I very much wanted to do a live demonstration with clay, but many gallery spaces are almost sacred in a way. They are places to be respectful of the art on display and generally not messy.
Ideas:
Art Scavenger hunt / Bingo card
Make and Take clay station
Give away objects / books/ info
Vote on something

Assignment 2 - Visual Presents
Oct 9 - 23 We begin parts 1 and 2 of our Gallery plan, after a 1:1 with our instructor we narrowed down some key points to try to have done for next class. I need to: -Figure out which artists I am featuring, and which pieces of artwork of theirs will be displayed. -Locate a Floor plan for Medalta Galleries (I found that there were 3 online but couldn't find a floor plan beyond a reception/event room -Visit Medalta in person if possible -Decide on some sort of activity or interaction for visitors -If possible start on promotional materials I went to Medalta's website and after much digging I found their archive, which gave me access to their previously posted pieces on artists in residence, galleries and exhibitions and upcoming events in the ir newsletters. I found later there was a much easier way to do this, thankfully. I both emailed requesting a floor-plan and went in person to visit the spaces, which is a good thing I did as there is actually only 1 gallery spaced that has changing exhibitions. The other 2 are more historical museums and give information on the history of the building and the industry. I had a rough mock up of the gallery space but was provided a detailed floor-plan which was beyond helpful. I researched some activities or interactions done for galleries that help with public engagement. I even went to a few galleries in town for more inspiration. I found a lot of interactions were directed towards children or at the very least to a certain extent were easy enough not to mess up. I considered the theme and meaning behind why I wanted to host/throw a gallery in the first place for my promotional materials. Many of Medalta's gallery events had playful or creative exhibit names, with strategic meanings. So I started figuring out what exactly I wanted my gallery to be focused on and what I wanted to feature myself. A great deal of this time was spent researching and compiling lists of ceramic or clay artists that had previously done an artist residency with Medalta. Then I focused on finding which of these artist were either born in Canada or immigrated to Canada later in life. Finally I began looking into the artists clay works from distant past and present (or very near present), with the pieces dimensions and prices if available.

Assignment 2 - Visual Presents
For this assignment, we were tasked with creating a project we may work on or do once we graduate. Each student had creative freedom with the medium used and how they would craft a love letter to a potential career option. Oct 2 - Oct 9 I chose to create an art exhibition on location at the Medalta Society in the Yuill Gallery.
I started by researching gallery curation and what a gallery curator's portfolio would look like. It would mainly consist of examples of their set-up exhibits, in front of the gallery space and pictures of the public enjoying the art. I then began looking into all that was required to plan a gallery and created a game plan of sorts, which consisted of 6 parts: 1-Planning - where, when, why, who, agreement/liability forms 2-Logistics - floor plan, labelling, locations, 3-Marketing/promotion - Posters, flyers, social media, collaborators, invitations 4-Event Prep- Reception night, guest book, featured artists/interactions 5-Follow up- Social media posts day of, thank you cards 6-Documentation - Photographer/videoographer, evaluation, sales reports Part of the assignment was to do some some further research into your chosen company and create a mood board.

Assignment 1 - Metaphor, 2 ideas/ things that seemingly have no connection- 2/3
Which Bathroom do I use? Continued
We were given class to work on our ideas for the bathroom signs, my group decided to do a "Humanities" Bathroom and a "Theatre" Bathroom.
*These were created purely for artistic and academic reasons, not to be displayed or used, we simply pushed the envelope in terms of metaphor. The images depicted do not reflect mine or my groups views*
Humanities: Countries/ Lands Female - Motherland - Russia Male - Fatherland - Germany Non Gendered / Family - Homeland - Israel or Non Gendered / Family - Neutral - Switzerland
Theatre: Mid summer's night dream Female - Tatiana - Flower Crown Male - Oberon - Antlers / Skull Non Gendered / Family - Puck - Pan flute
we went as far as to create physical mock ups of what these signs might look like.

Assignment 1 - Metaphor, 2 ideas/ things that seemingly have no connection- 2/3
Which Bathroom do I use? When you go somewhere new but don't know which door to pick.
For this portion of the assignment we were to create a bathroom sign design for a particular area of the college, playing with metaphor.
Today we split into groups so we could ideate and bounce Ideas off of each other. Tasked with creating a Male, Female, and Non Gendered/Family bathroom signage for 2 different areas. D.L. and B.K. were in my group. We played around with:
What area to feature: Cafeteria, Humanities/Geography/Poli. Sci, Chemistry/Science, Theatre. How to go about making all 3 signs for each area similar and not to unique to each other. What images/ symbology to use while still keeping metaphor a
