Varia Slang and Expressions
Tumblr media
Flat pay vs hourly pay: - Flat pay orsimply Flat, means being payed a set predetermined amount for a mission, while hourly pay refers to being payed per hour the mission takes. This is used on both sides of Mammon, to rank up mission prizes and keep payment of members low.
Civi: civillians, often also used for non combatant mafiosi
Flame juice: a term for the overall flame power one can still produce without falling to fatigue
Being Wonky: being so overworked you inevitably start to have physical performance issues
to detonate the kitchen: cause more unnecesary destruction and work that will effect everyone else
Rule 67: The Varia Rule tho kill yourself if captured by the enemy
to seek Sister Dr. Luss: the unhealthy behavior of seeking unprofessional therapy among colleges
to smoke on flame: engage in unhealthy, destructive behavior out of stress
Mainatee/Maintenenceer: the term used for workers that are in charge of keeping maintenance at Varia HQ, as this is being done by a seperate organisation and not Varia members. "Housekeeping" is usually a way of insult for these workers and highly frowned upon by other varia members.
to be redpenned: getting your pay reduced by mammon because of trivial matters
to be blackpenned: getting your pay reduced because of your own behavior/faults
no love in the varia, no blindfold in the kitchen: refers to the concept of how holding any form of romantic relationship while in the varia is as senseless as cooking while blindfolded. Sure, some can do it, some have no issues with it at all, but most will cause only chaos and destruction.
to send someone to mammon (for blackmarketing): a threat/warning that lies on actual fact that Mammon does tend to use members that need to be disposed of for blackmarket purposes (selling organs, flesh, blood, etc.)
to boombox oneself: do something so incredibly stupid that it's almost comical and impressive, like triggering a bomb box out of curiosity
to tango with flies: getting caught up with a very convoluted and unnecesary scheme/tactic, instead of following a concrete plan
to need a nailgun: being disarmed and in need of a weapon/having to improvise weapons from your surroundings

Unseen Varia
Tumblr media
"Unseen Varia" is an unofficial describtor and title refering to the top members of the Varia, right beneath the officers and boss. It's said that performing a kill in itself is not much more difficult than chopping onions or boiling pasta (correctly). If you want to become a cook or simply master the art, these are basics that even novices and hobby cooks should be able to perform. Not many can do it properly, some will never be able to, but this is the bottom of the basics, among true pros. The same sentiment is given to the act of assassination. Simply killing someone is not a difficult feat, especially when your target is a civillian or a non combatant.
The Varia is known for their high quality and sucess rate, so it is not a surprise that it's members have mastered at least this simple skill. However there is still a difference between a simple kill and an assassination. Among trained individuals in the industry the highest form of skill is shown by assassinating someone without any trace left behind. A murder that seems like an accident. A killing with no killer. This special skill set is not a requirement to be a member of the Varia, however it is a noticible divider between the lower ranked members and the higher ranks. Individuals at Rank 3, in some cases even 4, can perform a traceless kill and therefor are regarded as the "Unseen Varia", due to their work being untracable. Especially among the Second in Comand seats this is a requirement. This is why the kill count of the Unseen Varia is hard to pin point and their mere presence demands respect and caution.
It seems almost contradictory that someone is regarded an "Unseen Varia" if having such a title is proof of some trace remaining- after all, how can you be sure that someone is worthy of the title, if you can't prove that they have this skill? However it has been something that established itself over time. Two common factors are usually what differentiates the top Unseen Varia from the rest of their colleagues. Their given rank by the organisation, as it requires a certain set of skills (AN: this is debatable when it comes to the current Mists Second in Command) and control over murderous intent.
Murder Intent and Bloodlust
Murder intent and bloodlust are two specific intesities in atmospheric change/pressure/energy that can be picked up by trained individuals and sometimes even by untrained people. These are usually things that take a long time to master the control of, as it's pure existance is a natural occurance.
Tumblr media
The act of a killing brings with it a lot of intensity and strain. It is a tension that is noticible and can be picked up on by others. Having complete control over it, to the point of being able to conjour or hide it, like ones presence is a difficult skill to master and takes years of practice and hands on experience. For someone to be disciplined enough to have mastered such a craft, it truly takes someone quite terrifying. Untracable killings require this skillset, as any form of attention to the assassin can be fatal. Only someone who has a complete hold of their presence and murder intent, can in turn learn the art of true assassination.
If you stand in front of someone who mastered this and who you know is a member of the Varia, you might just be in the presence of an Unseen Varia. Be cautious, but do not worry. They are not here to kill you, or they would've done it without you noticing.

[DISCLAIMER! This section is very spoiler heavy, so read at your own risk]
The Nuvella Famiglia
Tumblr media
The Nuvella Famiglia is a mafia family almost as old as the Vongola itself with now 8 generations going. It is known for being a very secretive family with not much public presence, however a lot of connections in the dark. They are known for never rushing any of their movements and rather waiting out the right moment than making any compromises on their plans. They have been openly and vocally opposing the Vongola since their first generation, as the family was founded by a former Vongola heir, Vongola Terzos younger brother who opposed his ideals and decided to build his own family. This is why the family has the same 1 Boss 6 Guardians structure.
There are many rumors and legends about the Nuvella, one for example, that they were responsible for the assassination of Vongola Sesto, however it could never be confirmed, but definitely hightened the tension between the two families. However it has never come to an open violent altercation on a family wide level, though many individuals have clashed with each other.
It is also said that they have ties to "the Serpents", an underground organisation, that deals in the dirtiest and most heinous of crimes, even being responsible for toppling politicians in other countries.
Eight Generation
Tumblr media
Vero Nemesi (Boss - Sky)
Vero Nemesi is the eight Boss of the Nuvella family, being the oldest of two children of the former seventh boss Francesca. He is known for being rather cunning tho it is unclear which exact crimes can be attributed to him, due to the Nuvellas secrecy. However he is responsible for many attacks and leaks regarding the Neo Vongola transfer to japan and has weirdly enough not made any attempt to hide this.
He seems to have a particular dislike of Tsunayoshi Sawada and Vongola Nono, blaming his mothers death on Timoteo and his guardians.
Possible and confirmed involvement
The sudden spike of Vongola Nonos Dementia (unconfirmed)
The attack of a Bat Amalgamation Monster on the Varias Squad 4 (confirmed)
Leaking information regarding Tsunayoshi Sawada transfering the Neo Vongola to japan (confirmed)
Financing the build of the Mosca models (unconfirmed)
Leaking information about Vongola whereabouts in the Future (partially confirmed)
Leaking Ekaterina Bugakovas assassination to Anatoli Bugakov (confirmed)
Leaking Basils whereabouts to the Varia during the Ringbattle Arc (unconfirmed)
Tumblr media
Cho Nemesi (Information Networker - Cloud Guardian )
Cho Nemesi is Vero Nemesis younger brother and the eight generations Cloud Guardian. He is the head of the Nuvella Information Network, the probably biggest strength and weapon of the Family. He is very loyal to his older brother and works close with their Tech Specialist Beanie. He overlooks the information that they gather and then presents them to his brother who then decides what to leak to whom and if to possibly even sell information. The Vindice has been keeping a close eye on him as he has shown interest in gathering information from the "Atlantis" Bar which has been the secret information pool of the Vindice.
Tumblr media
Carmen Serpine (direct comand assassine - Sun Guardian)
Carmen Serpine is the Nuvella eight generation Sun Guardian and the older sister of Mayar Serpine, the boss of the Serpents. She has been the Nuvellas assassine since the former generation, but only under Vero has she been made a Guardian and given a more stable ring for her flame. Under the former Boss Francesca she has been responsible for multiple deaths among the Varia and specifically the eye impairment of Zarria Albo whos left eye she ripped out of her skull. She sees Zarria as her personal enemy; why is unclear, but she has been going for her specifically.
Tumblr media
Valencia (Lightning Guardian)
Valencia di Loma is the eight generation Lightning Guardian of the Nuvella Family. It's said that in her past she was part of a church based in rural south italy, where she was raised in believing the divinity of gods punishment. Believing that her boss Vero is a messenger of the Lord himself she has seen every of his orders as a direct command from God itself, following each command no matter how deranged or evil it may be.
Tumblr media
Maribella (Mist Guardian)
Maribella is the Nuvella eight generation Mist guardian and regarded an academic genius. She constructs her illusions from the ground up, using her knowledge to make them as realistic as possible, so any attempt at deconstructing them or find fault in them would be unimaginably difficult. She puts rational thought above feelings, which has led to her following Vero as she believes his ideologies to be the ones with the best outcome for italy.
Tumblr media
James (Storm Guardian)
James is the Nuvella Famiglia eight generation Storm Guardian and shrouded in mystery even for the Nuvella. Nobody knows where he came from or what his deal is, but he has proven himself to Vero and became his storm guardian. He is truly just here to fuck shit up and have a good time, ready to mess up others for shits and giggles. It's said that he might've been a convicted criminal from another country and it's rather obvious that James is not his real name, however this is mostly irrelevant as neither James nor Vero disclose any information about his background.
Tumblr media
Hermeas (Rain Guardian)
Hermeas is the Rain Guardian of the eight generation of the Nuvella Family and an old friend of the Nemesi family. He has been a sort of uncle to both Vero and Cho, ever since they were born and has been incredibly protective of them. He was also the one who first suspected Vongola Nono to be responsible for Francescas death and is still guilt ridden for not being able to protect her when she needed him. This is why he swore to protect her two kids and became the eight generations Rain Guardian, on top of being their bodyguard and closest family member. He disliked Tyr, but always saw Carmens obsessiveness with Tyrs executioner as completely overdrawn.
Tumblr media
Beanie (Technic Specialist)
Beanie is the Nuvella families specialist for anything involving technology and internet. He works closely with Cho and has been the one to perform most of the hacking operations for information. He is as much a staple of the Information Network as Cho is.
Tumblr media
Mayar Serpine (Boss of "The Serpents" - Mist flame)
Mayar Serpine is the current Boss of the Serpents, an underground organisation that deals in illegal activity in and outside of italy, mostly involved in blackmail, extortion and political plays. The Serpents work closely with the Nuvella for a while now andd Mayar himself has shown to be impressed by the way Vero leads the eight generation. He is Carmen Serpines younger sibling and a formidable illusionist who uses mostly mindgames and psychology to trick his opponents into an opening. He has been opposed to the way the Vongola has been operating for a while, the entire organisation having always been a more opposing force to them than an ally or just neutral party. It's said that the founder of the Serpents even had contact with Giotto Vongola and back then had already been unhappy about the way Giotto led his organisation. Right now he provides the Nuvella with financial and resource aid while playing a big part in the current political landscape of west russia and nort italy.

Pure Flame
Tumblr media
Pure Flame is the designation given to individuals with a Dying Will Flame Density equal or above 90%. This can be determined by special devices. It's said that the destructive power of Pure Flames is unmatched and unparalleled. This concept however caused much confusion as the Dying Will Flames were explored more and "Pureness" become a meassurement of Resolve. Although the name "Pure Flame" remained, scientists have decided that the correct term for what it meassures would be Flame Density
Known Pure Flames in history
G [95%] (Vongola First Generation Storm Guardian)
All known Arcobaleno [inbetween 92% and 95% with Reborns density reaching 95%]
Hibari Kyoya [96%] (Neo Vongola First Generation Cloud Guardian)
Fran [90%] (Kokuyo Gang Illusionist)
Catlena D'Anzo [97%] (Varia Tyr Generation Head of Medical Station)
Tyr [91%] (former Boss of the Varia)
Daniela [98%] (Vongola Eight Generation Boss)
Simon Cozzato [92%] (Simon Family First Generation Boss)
Enma Kozato [91%] (Simon Family Tenth Generation Boss)
Vero Nemesi [95%] (Nuvella Family Eight Generation Boss)
The Vongola Heir Dying Will Flame Density test
A part of the selection of the Vongola Heir is the test of the heirs Dying Will Flame Density Level. However this has been only implemented since the 4th Generation. There is no rule or tradition about the heir needing a certain percentage of density to take over the family, as Fabio, the Seventh Generation Boss could become Boss despite a tested density of just 52%. Xanxus was the first and only one that managed to break the meassuring device and has no confirmed official Flame Density Percentage.
Multiple Flames and Density percentage
Originally the meassuring of a Dying Will Flames Density was reserved for only the Vongola main family and it's heirs, though further research especially from 1970 onward has discovered a few very important details. During the 1890 there was a big discussion regarding the concept of "Pure Flames" in a more problematic and very xenophobic way. There were many who believed that you were only a true strong mafiosi if your Dying Will Flame was "pure" in the sense of possessing only one Flame Type. It was suspected that "bastards" and people who were not "purebred" italians would fall into this category, causing social problems in which the sign of two flame types was seen as someone being a bastard child out of wedlock. There were however others arguing that being able to wield multiple flame types was a sign of genius and eugenic superiority. This eventually led to a particular question regarding flame research. Who was correct?
With a study in 1970 conducted by multiple scientists and with different variations, a paper was published in 1975 with prognosis' and first results of the yearlong research. One of it's biggest findings was that the human body could not withstand 100% of Dying Will Flame Density. "If your goal is to heat up water, you want to stay below 100° Celsius to prevent it from evaporating. Otherwise you may have reached your goal, but lost the result you were hoping for." - Dr. Fernando Giusepi.
The study also found out that this meant that holding multiple flames would cause serious damage on the human body if each flame added together exceeded 100% as all flame types resided in a body at the same time, leading to the afformentioned biological constrain of only adding up to at most 99%. In a research project conducted by Dr. Catlena D'Anzo and PhD. Toya Nomura, the results showed that all meassured participants with multiple flame types showed a high overall percentage in flame density, but split among the different flame types. Furthermore it seemed that high density percentages and pureness levels were far more common among individuals with multiple flame types, with usually one crystalizing as the most dominant in an individual, dubbing the others the "secondary flame types". Dr. D'Anzo wrote in her research summary that further observation would be necesary and that this result could also in theory result in an explanation for the Flame of Wrath phenomenon, however there was no indivudual with these needed characteristics that participated in the study.
Consequences
In 1986 Dr. Catlena D'Anzo released a follow up paper on The Medical And Biological Consequences Of High Flame Density. It was a 236 page long paper of observations and about 10 years of research cleanly and transparently documenting the changes in the study- and controlgroup of about 146 people. In her study she concluded that ultimately a density percentage of over 82% can already influence an individuals health, be it physically or mentally. Individuals who actively used their flames in daily life would see an increase related to the amount of flame power used and depending on the flame density the after-effects could be massively aggravated. For people old fashionably considered "Pure Flame" the chance of severe health risks and bodily deterioration would be even worse.
However, there was no follow up study by her and further independant studies have shown similar to mixed results. It has now become a standart to warn someone who tests their flame density above 80% of it's possible repurcussions and influence on their health, though not many people take these PSAs very seriously.
Other Trivia
It is speculated that Giotto Vongola the Vongola family first generation boss also possessed a high density Dying Will Flame, however records are too few to properly deny or confirm this. His legendary status however has led to many Vongola members undoubtedly believing, that Giotto must've been the only person in history to ever reach a Flame density of 100%. Scientifically this is not possible, but it remains a firmly held belief
It's common for younger people to refrain from using "Pure Flame" as a title as it is not just scintifically incorrect, but also holds a lot of associations leading back to the big debate about wether someone was more "pure bred" if they only had one flame type, or special, because they could use multiple different types. Many older mafiosi and especially traditionalists will argue that it's just a naming convention but there is a significant shift in the cultural Zeitgeist.
In Catlenas research on the consequences of high flame density she mentions that her observation of high density sky flames has been mostly inconclusive and that it just might be the only flametype that may have either less severe repurcussions or none at all.
While Flame Density and Pureness seem to have many overlapping characteristics, they are indeed very seperate things. Flame pureness can be cultivated and changed while flame density is similar to a flame type something determined by birth. There are still people who use the two interchangably however. Notably there is still the misconception that rings break due to not matching a flames purity, when the density of the flame plays a vital role in a rings stability. In the same vein however the flame density stands in relation of how much strain someone has to conjour in order to use their flame at all. This makes people with multiple flame types more susceptible to fatigue and exhaustion when they use their flames for an excessive amount of time.
There was once a Soda brand that advertized itself as bossting your flame density and pureness, however it was completely shut down in the span of a week and the brand issued an official apology.

*takes a deep breath*
I usually do not talk about my khr selfinsert/oc but honestly i AM very interested about your thoughts if i just let you lose, so.
"Rena Paolina" (birthname: Alyona Ivanovna Tsareyev), about the age of Tsuna and his guardians is a young woman with a hand for childcare and a trained theater teacher. She was partially scouted by the Vongola to be part of a mafia centric daycare, for the offspring of the Vongola families memebers (There is also another reason why they keep a close eye on her). She has a knack foe identifying what kids need and how to get them to behave, which was especially helpful with the still young Lambo. She is not a fighter (or so she claims) and she completely focuses on her work at the daycare and her small theater group.
Her origin are only known to CEDEF, Reborn and Dino as Dino was the first person she met when she came to italy. She gets along well with Tsunayoshi and his guardians tho she only really seems to bicker and butt heads with Gokudera. With everyone else she seems to find ways to be on good terms with them.
She is a very righteous person and can be hotheaded when it concerns topics that hit close to home. Then she usually becomes short sighted and so heated she ends up running herself into a corner. Even tho she repeatedly says that children scare her and that she isnt very good at caring for them there have not been many kids who ever disliked her. She openly speaks her mind and opinion even to people that have a standing above her, tho she does adjust her way of speaking to not be too disrespectful. She has a passion for theater and really blooms in theater related projects, happily teaching others about it and helping them discover themselves through the magic of theater. However she does shy away from ever getting too much into public spaces for some reason.
This reason being that she is terrified of someone possibly figuring out where she comes from.
"Rena" is actually the only child of the Leonov families boss Ivan Anatolyevich Tsareyev, a mafia family that is notorious for their incredibly conservative ways. Originally her family was banished, as her father was usurped by his own right hand man and had to flee the country. However as Rena became a teenager her father traveled alone back to his home and through gruesome circumstances he managed to take back leadership, making sure to rule through fear. He wanted ro take his wife and daughter back home, however Rena was very against this new life and she ran away from home finding her way to italy where she begged to be taken in. Reborn decided that considering her age and inexperience with anything related ro the underworld she could be allowed to work for the vongoa tho under strict supervision. Should her family ever become an issue in politics she would make a fine hostage.
But even in her youth as her family was banished she had a boy by her side, about the same age as her by the name of Dimitri. While everyone went against her father, only his bodyguard stood with him and followed her family. It was his son that was early on tasked with protecting Rena even as a civilian and when she decided to run away he saw it as his duty to protect her by allowing her to escape. With the years passing she managed to truly prove herself in her craft and became a valued and beloved caretaker even if there are always the entitled parents that try to make her life a living hell.
Bulletpoint trivia
* Lambo adores her as she manages to thread the needle between pulling him back in reins and engaging in his antics.
* in her fifth year at the vongola she had proven herself enough to turn her small theater group into an actual ensemble, even being provided a small theater where they can properly perform even if only for a small audience.
* Reborn always kept one step in the suspicion territory but after seeing how skilled she is at actually taking care of mafia children he realized that she was a valuable asset to the family.
* While on official documents she is listed as having a storm flame she actually posesses a sky flame.
* she is not a fighter. She can protect herself when it comes down to it but she is definitely more a civi than a fleshed out mafiosi.
* Dima keeps an eye on her from afar. He never dared to actually meet her, but ever so often he makes a trip to italy to watch over her for a day before he returns to other duties. Rena has never noticed this.
* The reason Rena is quite close with the tenth family (or the neo vongola family) is not just their similar age, but also that she was one of the first introduced into the circle as soon as the mafia business really started. She took care of a lot of mundane tasks and took care of Lambo first and foremost.
* She actually kind of enjoys her back and forth with Gokudera tho she isnt sure if he sees it the same way.
* On the outside Rena seems to most like she has everything figured out and knows what she is doing. However in that case she is the true embodiment of "fake it till you make it". She is WAY more anxious than people believe her to be.
So I guess i am not asking for anything specific, i mean you know i ship with dera, but I wanted to just give you an opportunity to give me your opinion? Ideas? Critique??? I dont really know myself.
It is up to you. I just value your opinion in general.
(Also wanted to ask: even if the event ends, can i send you my varia boys profiles once they are done?)
@eternitas I dug this up in the queue before work today, just as I know you've been waiting for it ans it keeps getting sent down in wach new reshuffle! First off, let me just say that I am deeply honored that you feel comfortable sharing your self-insert/OC with me. I know that takes a lot of bravery to do, as these sorts of characters become very meaningful and dear to our hearts. I’m not entirely sure what to really give you back though! Because this reply is published publicly on the blog, I am going to ask if you’re okay with other readers commenting on the beautiful Rena and, if you are, I ask my gorgeous constant readers – do any of you lovelies want to comment or ask questions about the character, other than the ones I will be asking? (Though a reminder that all comments and questions must be respectful, anything that I feel is mean-spirited will not be shared and might earn you a block from the blog because again – sharing these types of characters takes a lot of courage). What I ended up giving you was just my thoughts, sometimes an occasional comment that I had while reading through the description of Rena, but mostly questions on her though because I am always very curious about characters! Oh, so many questions! I hope the questions will make sense and that none of it will come off as rude or nosey!! Even the critiques are more meant as…okay, that’s an interesting writing choice. This is how I always thought about the character/process, so I’m just really interested in why you think this thing instead – because, as a reminder, mine is not the only right way to see things and by asking questions and hearing other people’s views, I get to learn new things and see characters and situations in lights that I might never have considered! (Also, please, please, even if there is no event going on, please feel free to send me profiles for the Varia boys, and please know, to my lovely other readers, that I am always interested in hearing about people’s self-inserts or original characters 😊)
How is Rena pronounced? Like Ray-nah or like Ree-na?
Where Rena has a birthname and a new chosen name, how did she settle on the name Rena Paolina? What drew her to that first and last name? Is there any significance behind it?
Where she does have the birthname and then her new identity, did she legally change her name? Most Mafia families would work with forged documents and would be able to spot fake documents, even well-made ones if the family is experienced enough, so I feel she’d be living dangerously relying on just forged documents. Did she go through something like what Reborn went through after becoming cursed, where he went to some sort of specialist, referred to him through Shamal (or maybe even Shamal himself, who knows) and got her old identity completely erased and a new one constructed for her by the best of the best to avoid any danger?
If Rena is around Tsuna’s age, did she temporarily go on the leave from the Vongola after high school to get her theatre degree? If so, who took over childcare while she was gone? Was her absence really noticed? How much contact did she keep in with her friends, if the theatre school she went to wasn’t in Japan? Did they come to visit her often and if so, who showed the most interest in what she was learning about? (Do you see any of the Guardians or Tsuna’s other family members as being really interested in the theatre and acting?)
Why was she scouted for the Vongola? I can see them keeping an eye on her for potential threats and having the attitude of keeping your enemies closer, but why in particular was she scouted for the position she was scouted for? Why would they entrust her with the next generation of the Vongola if there was that fear about her family? Had she proven herself to them in some way? Was she supervised while in the daycare for the first several years until she had shown her loyalty? Or was it that Tsuna and Timoteo's hyper intuition saw through all and knew Rena had a heart of gold and would never hurt any of them or the Vongola itself?
Lambo would obviously give Rena a run for her money and probably tire her out but what about the other children? How does she get along with I-Pin, who is just as energetic but less rambunctious and trouble-making? What about slightly older children like Fuuta? Especially Fuuta, actually, whose ranking abilities could prove dangerous if they were to reveal something she didn’t want to come out, like who she was in the past?
I actually really, really enjoy the fact that Rena isn’t much of a physical fighter and does such a niche job. It makes her much more relatable, in my opinion, without the worry of her being overpowered or anything along those lines. I also love that she has clear passions and interests of her own, things that she enjoys doing that are completely separate from Mafia life because it makes her feel more realistic as a person and more fleshed out and dimensional as a character.
This is the only critique I have and it’s more a question. If she is indeed part of the Vongola, why are her origins only known to Reborn, Dino, and CEDEF. Reborn and CEDEF have no say as to who becomes Vongola, though Reborn recruits for Tsuna’s family specifically and even then, they kind of need to be invited in by Tsuna or at least accepted by Tsuna as part of his family. So, am I confused, and she’s scouted as part of specifically Tsuna’s generation? Because otherwise Timoteo and his Guardians would know about her, and I could honestly see Timoteo being the most sympathetic to her plight and the one most likely to take her in, while I could see Iemitsu and CEDEF and especially Reborn being the more extremely wary of Rena, because they would view her more of a threat, where Timoteo, especially with the help of Vongola’s Hyper-Intuition, would view Rena more as a child in a bad spot who needs a safe place to be and as a human being who means them no harm, something his Hyper-Intuition tells him in his heart and I could actually see him doing everything in his power to bring her into the fold and provide a stable 'father-like' figure to her.
Or am I confused and this takes place when Tsuna is an adult, though that would make no sense as Lambo would be much too old to need childcare at that point, though some of the family members would have children of their own that might need childcare during that time?
How did she meet Dino, where he’s the first person she met upon arriving in Italy? Why did she choose Italy to flee to? Was it a conscious choice or was it more that that was the first flight she could grab?
What are the topics that hit close to home for her? What are the causes and topics she’s passionate about and that get her heated?
If Rena is someone unafraid to speak her mind to anyone and everyone, how is it that she hasn’t gotten herself ‘bitten to death’ by people like Hibari? Or Xanxus, Bel, and Squalo, should she have ever met them? Are there times when she knows how to keep her opinions to herself, because doing otherwise would lead to danger or possible fights, or is she the impulsive type whose mouth sometimes gets the better of her (which I would sympathize with her on if that's the case because sometimes my mouth gets ahead of my head)?
If Rena doesn’t want to perform in public spaces due to a fear of being found out, does that mean the theatre group only performs for the Vongola? Just wondering as I’m just a little confused as to that, because here at least, even the backstage crew gets pulled onto the stage at the end of the show to get their round of applause. Is it different in other countries and I'm just being ignorant? I can't remember if I asked above, but what role does she play in the theatre troop? Does she direct, act, write original plays, anything? I am so, so, so intensely curious and intrigued by this aspect of her and it's one of my favourite things about her, no lie!!
Is her family Russian Mafia? And what do you mean by conservative ways, precisely? Are we talking stereotypical brutal Russian mob, who terrorizes, extorts, blackmails, and murders those inside their own territory? If so, how was the family not taken apart by the townspeople they subjugated during the internal chaos of the coup d’etat where his right hand man took the Boss’ seat? How did his right-hand man take over a family like that while still leaving the former Boss alive, especially as it would be a huge threat to the right-hand man since the former boss could gather anyone even the least bit loyal to him back to his side and could come gunning for the person who took over his role by force. A point blank killing of Ivan would make more sense to me, so I’m just trying to dig into the world here and figure out if there were reasons he was left behind and how all this turmoil in her family happened.
Where did her family resettle, if they were forced out of the country? Did she like that country? Would she return there? Would she ever return to Russia, if the danger of being found out for who she was was taken away? Like, was her childhood there one that she would have loved if born from a different family?
Since she ran way, does she ever contact her parents from a secure line to let them know she is safe? It seems unreasonably cruel, since there’s no hints that her father or mother were abusive to her, for her to leave them there for years upon years wondering if she was safe, if their child had been killed, and all that. Is there more to this family’s story than what’s being told at first glance? Again, this is such an intriguing, interesting backstory that I want to deep dive into it and learn every little bit of information I can about it, like I would want to deep dive into any characters from published anime/manga!
Why did Dmitri not go with her when she ran away, if his purpose and life’s work was really to be her bodyguard? Why did he not follow her after ensuring she got safely out, meeting her at somewhere they would have agreed upon? There’s no way she could have guaranteed safety as a runaway living on the streets, hoping someone would take her in, so I would think he’d be even more insistent on being able to stay with her and protect her. Was it under her orders, to keep him potentially safe, since I know for sure she does genuinely have a good heart and would deeply care about someone who'd been so close to her?
How does she fake having a Storm Flame to seal these official documents? I don’t think Flame types are officially listed on most paperwork, since the only valid way to prove it for it to be recorded would be to light the flame on a Ring? I have nothing against her being a Sky flame, just wondering how she fakes the Storm Flame or if she just has a weak secondary Storm Flame, which would also make complete sense with her personality!
If Dmitri knows where she is and watches her from afar, why has he just not approached her? If it’s because he could be caught doing so, he’d be caught doing observation and surveillance on her, wouldn’t he? Is he nervous she'd be upset or is he worried he might not fit into her new life??
Now just some random questions because I genuinely do think Rena is adorable, I like the bit of shipping headcanons you’ve shared with her and Gokudera, and I’m interested in learning more about just who she is as a person!!
What are some of Rena’s other hobbies other than theatre? Is there any particular genres she’s really pulled towards for all the media and stage shows she prefers?
What’s one stage production that she has always wanted to be a part of but hasn’t gotten to be a part of yet?
Is she right or left handed? Is she at all superstitious and does she believe in things like astrology, crystals, and psychics?
Would she go ghost-hunting/Bigfoot-spotting, etc. with Gokudera? Does she genuinely believe in all that stuff or is she doing it to humour him and because she knows how much he loves that kind of stuff?
What’s her style? How does she dress? How much care does she take with her appearance? Is she a no makeup kind of person or someone who likes to play around with their makeup?
Who’s her favourite kid out of the main kid trio of Lambo, I-Pin, and Fuuta? What about the Arcobaleno, where they look like babies? Who would she think is the cutest baby?
Does she attend Yamamoto’s baseball games and if so, is she one of the super-loud spectators, cheering him on so everyone can hear or is she more quietly supportive?
Does she have a parent she preferred growing up? (Was she a Daddy’s girl or a Mommy’s girl?) If she didn’t really ever get along with her parents, was there another relative that she really loved and that was her safe space, like an aunt or cousin?
What does Rena look like! I don’t remember it in the description or anything, so I’d love to hear about that aspect of her too!
Does she ever have any relationships prior to getting together with Gokudera or is he her first and only relationship throughout her life? How do they end up getting together? Does someone officially confess or does it just kind of happen naturally?
What is her daily life with Gokudera like? Do they move in together and if so, how soon? What’s her favourite thing about him and what drew her to him and vice versa?
When’s their anniversary? How do they typically celebrate?
How do her and Gokudera resolve fights and arguments they have?
Honestly, just tell me anything and everything about her because I’m really interested in getting to know her!

Part 6!
23. she is right handed and superstitious but noot in that suburban housewife way. She does believe in astrology. Not the "the planets define your character", but the "I am sure the position of the stars and celestial objects have SOME form of influence on our lives, must not be big, maybe nothing we can truly explain, but to think these things in the universe have NO impact on us would be crazy." She subsequently also believes in ghosts, posessions and card reading. HOWEVER! She absolutely HATES the way many people "appropriate" teachings or twist them into cconservative ideology with glitter and aesthetic. She believes in witchcraft and pagan believes, but if anyone tells her that women have lighter and softer auras which makes them inherently more nurturing then men and therefore suited for housework she might just lose her temper. The divine and the magical are things not every third woman that lucid dreams can just pretend they know about. She believes that these powers exist, but on a plane that mortals can not or only BARELY touch and interact with. Read into family constellation or systemic constellation, that shit is like magic and those things are what she is talking about. It's an intimate process. Funnily enough she doesn't believe in every cryptid story. Mothman? Unlikely. Bigfoot? Yeti? Maybe. The Beast of Gevaudan? YES. Demonic posessions? YES- not all, but several. Aliens? Hell why not, she believes in the planets influencing earth, why not another species out there, also with intelligence of whatever form?
24. She would. But only after constant and repeated reassurance that NO MATTER WHAT he will be there to protect her and make sure nothing evil or demonic will get her. She is easily scared, she is def one that always gets caught by jumpscares. So while she will accompany him if he really insists her first instinct will be “not at night, if it’s at night then forget it”. She believes herself to be sensible to energy fluctuation (even tho she says she is possibly just imagining things, since she also holds herself as just some rando that the universe would not bless with otherworldy powers and witchcraft), so when she gets the creeps she will panic. It really doesn’t help, that she is actually INTERESTED in these things! Ghost hunting sounds SO good and so does cryptid hunting but WHY do these things hav to be at NIGHT?! “Okay I get it, power of the moon, the celestial energetic influence brings forth an increase in paranormal activity, yada yada, but STILL!”
25. Rena is pretty basic in her style. She hasn’t a defined one, tho she often says she wished she could match Gokuderas punk aesthetic. She usually goes for a lowkey fashion, not too flashy and mostly comfortable. Her primary work is pretty taxing so she doesn’t have the energy to prepare very prolific outfits and same with makeup. HOWEVER if there IS an ocassion, she WILL dress up and spend some extra effort in her looks. She can’t do even and straight eyeliner if her life depended on it and her technique is a BIT wonky, but she still looks stunning when she gets out the lipstick and accentuates her eyes. She also loves to experiment with her hair when she has the energy and time. From braided hairdos to loops and hairbuns, she really likes to do different things, tho she usually opts to just have her hair out of her face and not in her way. She WISHED she could be a hoodie thief, but since Gokudera dislikes that she refrains from it, tho sometimes when doing the laundry and folding stuff she will cuddle up to his hoodies. At least for a moment. Dera notices that his stuff smells slightly like her from it, but he doesn’t outright.. HATE it… In terms of jewelery, she always has a flame ring hidden with her for emergency cases, otherwise she sometimes wears earrings and ALWAYS a bracelet. This bracelet was the one parting gift Dimitri gave her. It’s a small selfmade pearl bracelet with the biflag colours and she holds it very dear.
26. For professional reasons I can not disclose her favourite child as they are all her favourite and it would be morally abhorent to play faves. Jokes aside tho it’s hard for her to say because she adores all three of them. She definitely finds the whole “this is a toddler who is actually a grown man” a BIT strange and was never really into the “oh my god babies are sOOOOO cuuuuute!” It reminds her of her mom. Sooo she usually goes “eh. I guess they’re cute?”
27. I def think if she is invited and has time she will go and cheer him on! Depending on the size of the audience she might not be heared, but that doesn’t matter because HEY THAT’S HER FRIEND!!! LOOK HOW COOL HE IS! Tho it takes a few tries of explaining from Yams side for her to truly grasp the rules and intricacies of the sport.
28. I think with what I have disclosed of her the answer to which parent she prefers is: it’s complicated. Her mother wasn’t an outright monster and she gets upset at anyone claiming she was. Her mother was still VERY supportive, unconditionally loving and Rena had a lot of fun with her mother. Her father was also loving and tender and while she never had outright abusive memories of him, he also wasn’t there all that much. So it’s hard for her to say. She loves her parents, but she also has deeply seated issues with the both of them. In terms of relatives she had quite a few, but she never felt like she could form a connection with them. Her female relatives were usually patronizing and overly cuddly, treating her like some kind of child doll, the men did too, but aside of a few interactions here and there she had barely any contact with them. And again: they all kind of thought in a similar vein as her mother constantly going on about how she will be SUCH a pretty heterosexual genderconforming woman :)))
29. I actually made a few picrews and also two shippy things that kind of highlight Dera and Renas relationship a bit, so I am excited to share them here.
30. I do think due to the stress she was under she didn’t really have a chance to develop something. She def THOUGHT she had a crush and tried to somehow force herself to crush on boys, but it was--- well… forced. Only once she was truly out of the whole demanding situation could she breath and finally develop proper feelings and relationships. So… while she did have dates and also kissed others before, Gokudera is her first SERIOUS relationship. So she is both a bit clingy to it, but also tries to anticipate them not working out for the long run, because: well its her first serious romantic relationship and she is still young.
31. Funnily enough despite her being more for shipping I was so occupied with her arc and backstory I have NO IDEA how they officially get together. But I can see it gradually building up over time and interactions. And from how you have convinced me I almost feel like it would be Rena that confesses and Dera goes along because he believes it might be nice to date her, even if they don’t last for long? Idk why that’s my feeling.
32. I think it takes a bit until they move in together, maybe even after her arc to be honest. She is a bit scared of living with him. What if he finds out and kicks her out? What if they fight and break up over something stupid? She does stay over sometimes for a while, a few days, maybe a weekend or over the holidays and it’s… almost chill? It feels almost natural. She finds it so so easy to just be by his side without it being boring. It’s a bit rocky in the beginning, since this is still her first relationship and she has only popular media to take information from (she’d rather not try to take her parents as an example), but she is also VERY scared of losing him that she relents in a fight and tries to find something SHE herself can change. As outspoken as she may be in general, she is TERRIFIED of losing Gokudera. She really really likes him. She likes being in his orbit. She likes talking to him and spend time with him. She likes the way they spend time together and he makes her feel appreciated and desired. He makes her heart race and it’s so intoxicating that it’s almost like an addiction. And therefor she of course also does what she can to hold onto it. It does cause a bit of a fight in their beginnings, but Gokudera is ready to work it out with her as he does like her and doesn’t want to be the reason she becomes so meek and lets be real, a fucking doormat. He likes when she is confident and self assured. Her passion is what attracted him to her, so he tries to make her truly trust in him NOT just leaving because they have disagreements and here and there annoy each other or step on each others toes. And with the reassurance it does get better.
They do have a few series they like to watch together, mostly paranormal shows or something lighthearted and feel good. Each of them decides on a movie for the next movie night always taking turns in who picks the movies. The night isn’t like one set day in the week, but usually how they have time and energy for it. They each also have a few rules and a VETO policy. There are things Gokudera will NEVER watch and there are things Rena would absolutely never watch. But there is also the Veto Policy which says that they can reject the pick of a movie for the night, but have to accept the next two movies picked by that person. To not be assholes to each other they usually pick a second movie that before they invoke their VETO they CAN choose between movie A and B. Example. It’s Gokuderas pick. His primary movie is a horror movie pick, one that isn’t one of the trashy ones, but a legit scary one. Rena asks for his other pick which is a bit of a suspense movie, but not outright horror. Rena can now either pick between the two or VETO the pick and subsequently expose herself to the next two picks by Gokudera. After the first time they watched a horror movie together tho, Rena got nightmares, could barely sleep and was a bit of a mess, so he is careful with what movies he picks. She can do something like Paranormal Activity, Truth or Dare or Unfriended, but The Ring, Insidious or The Exorcist will not let her sleep. Dera especially likes asian horror movies as they are especially atmospheric and it drives Rena crazy. But as mentioned, he isn’t a total asshole and he does care about her so he doesn’t torture her too much.
33. Whats her favourite thing about Dera? Probably that they kind of have similar beliefs and tastes. She can hold a meaningful discussion with him about topics without it getting into a fight and she appreciates his insight and opinions on different topics even if she disagrees on things. He is fierce and sometimes bickering with him is fun and exciting, but she appreciates his quiet tenderness. He doesn’t announce his care. He just cares. And she kind of likes that a lot, because it speaks of how deep inside he is kind of soft. She also really thinks its cute what a DORK he is about UMAs and the paranormal. He lights up the way she does when it comes to theater and it just captivates her. She appreciates how he is way smarter than her and yet they are both intelligent in their own way. She quite frankly also just REAAALLY enjoys his touch. It has a certain strength to it that isn’t overpowering or overdominating, but just… makes her feel secure. That if she falls, he WILL catch her. And with EASE. And while I am bad with coming up with reasons for Dera to like her, specifically bc I am not secure in my depiction of him, I do believe he has similar thoughts about their conversations and her passion. In an environment that is comfortable to her she is a competent leader, without being overly bossy, she wants others to thrive and help them achieve their goals and most of all she is PRETTY patient and understanding. He knows that his devotion to Tsuna and the family is something not many people would accept in him as a partner, but she does. She openly says that of course she wished to be his number one, but she also knows that it won’t ever happen and that if having to decide he will ALWAYS pick Tsuna above anyone else. But she is okay with that and understands. She doesn’t ever make her being upset with it his fault. And while he wished she wasn’t upset at all, he deeply appreciates her saying that this is a her problem and she will find ways to deal with it. It makes him feel like he doesn’t have to justify himself and it makes it easier to then reassure her that even if he will def always without fail pick Tsuna over anyone else, she is also deeply important to him and has a place in his heart. Also they just kind of have a similar wavelength which he doesn’t have with many others.
34. No idea about their anniversary, but they also don’t make a SUPER big deal about it. Def a nice dinner, maybe she bakes a cake, he gets her flowers and they spend the night wink wonk, but none of them demand something from each other.
35. Rena is VERY self reflective. She had a lot to work up on once she was out of home and she luckily could get therapy privately provided (“Dima, where did you get the money from?” - “Classified.” - “… I am your boss though, aren’t I?” - “No. Your dad is.” - “Fair.”), so she did kind of learn about proper communication and dealing with arguments and standing up for herself. I have already brought up how they start off, with her relenting more and avoiding conflict, which then upsets Dera and they have a long talk about it, with tears and reassurance and all, and from that on she is a bit more assertive in her needs, but never unreasonable. Yes, he will unnecesarily blow a fuse, because she went “Again?” after he said he would spend the night at HQ doing much needed paperwork, and she does defend herself, but she usually stays as calm as possible and explains herself. It’s rare that it REALLY clashes and when they do it gets loud for a bit, maybe they both part, steaming and upset, but once calmed down they talk it out. Them getting really INSULTING and hurtful usually doesn’t happen and when it does it is SO jarring to either of them that it IMMIDEATLY changes the situation. In the beginning Dera was still prideful enough and stubborn to hold onto how he is right and he will stick to it but after not just talking to Tsuna and Yamamoto, but also Rena calmly explaining how much his words hurt her, he kind of has an easier time with admitting his faults. She NEVER makes him feel like admitting to making a mistake is in any form a failure or god forbid a defeat. So it’s easier to admit when technically nothing is really on the line, but his own ego. Their biggest “fight” is probably the Russian Kidnapping Arc or “Matryoshka Hide and Seek” Arc, where basically EVERYTHING comes to light. Her being originally from russia, her lying about herself being a semi-civi, lying about her flametype, and especially that she is part of a rather notorious russian mafia family. Despite having her reasons, Dera doesn’t do well with betrayal. Jury is out on how things develop from after she comes back to italy.
I think I already completely squeezed every bit of information out of my brain lol.

Part 5!
Dima... Loves Rena. Platonically! He was kind of raised to be her protector and guardian, always making sure she wasn't bodily harmed, but with years passing also becoming an emotional anchor for her. Whenever there was trouble with her family it was Dimitri who was there for her and held her, letting her cry. So when she was more and more confronted with her heritage and its responsibilies he... well first he did try to persuade her, tried to support her in trying again and again, but when I say conservative i mean the "anything queer is a sin, you can lead the family until you got a good husband and then you can retire and be a housewife raising kids" type of conservative hostility. While her mother wasn't OUTright "queer is a sin" and more of a "well others can do whatever they want I just don't want to see that shit :/" type, it was still something, that hurt Rena as she noticed developing interest in other genders than just men. Whenever Rena tried to experiment with her gender, even just as much as being even slightly tomboyish her mother would frown and tell her how prettier she would look in a dress and makeup. And she was constantly told how her life would only TRULY beginn when she bore her own children. NOPE, no adoption. Dima was always on the sidelines watching and seeing how with time Rena got more and more stressed and anxious. And then a very particular incident happened. I won't go into detail, but Rena was confronted with the concept of pregnancy and birth and she became terrified. I mean full on, white out brain, shaking, whaling and cowering on the floor until she came to and Dimitri held her as she clung to him. As soon as she was back to her senses her mother basically RIPPED her away from Dimitri, coddling her and telling her that it all SOUNDS scary, but she will be SOOO happy in the end! Which kiiind of didn't help. Renas mother would more and more try to replace Dima as her emotional support and when she did she would gaslight Rena into believing that she was just overreacting and that it's aaall just a phase and she would LOVE a future with a rich and competent husband and ESPECIALLY raising kids! Her mother wouldn't listen and she'd feel more and more isolated until she kind of collapsed one night and BEGGED Dima to help her. And he did. And no matter what she said, he knew or at least believed that his existance was nothing but a last remaining chain to her past. Him being by her side would only remind her of the place that she so desperately wanted to flee from. So once she finished her education he helped her with her final move to italy and said goodbye. She didn't want him to go, but he didn't want to be the one to prevent her from truly being free. It wasn't easy, but he left her with a last memento and then left. At least her sights. He remained, watching her until he was sure she would be okay, and he did take out his fair share of threat.
Once Dima returned he was ofc met with fury from side of the mother, she saw him as her kidnapper, but luckily her father was more calm. He asked Dimitri to explain it all to him in private and he told him enough. "She will not become the next boss of this family. She would never have become happy in this place." He was 100000% ready to be killed and take her new location with him to the grave. But her father was aware of what was happening behind closed doors with his wife. Can't say their marriage was truly one for love. But despite him having power she was also very emotionally abusive to him as well and he had grown tired to fight her. So even if it deeply depressed him, just knowing his daughter was safe was enough for him. So he ordered Dimitri to stay close by. Not close enough to ever disclose her location, but close enough to be able to rush to help her if needed. He also asked for updates regularly. Her father was in good health there was no reason for any form of sucessor right now. So when through, lets be real, absolute bad luck and coincidence someone figured out who she was, the information was passed to a russian family that was close with the Giegue Family,
that was back then taken out by Suzuki.
From the inheritence saga they knew how dangerous a snuck in so called "friend" of the family is to the Vongola and as they had issues with Renas family anyway they decided to take care of her. This information reached Renas father who IMMIDEATLY contacted Dimitri who managed to intercept the attackers and get rid of them. However Renas father saw this as the sign to get her back to russia to safety as Dimitris claim of her being safe with the Neo Vongola family was clearly not true. So after taking care of that, he managed to actually sneak into the Neo Vongola base where due to a prior incident Rena was held in an interrogation room (to save Kyoko and Haru she had to expose herself as a fighter with a skyflame and they did NOT take her secret reveal lightly). He was shortly stopped by Yamamoto, but having expected pushback he managed to knock him out long enough to get Lina out of the room and take her with him, convincing her by saying that her staying would get all her friends into grave danger. Fearing her already having lost all trust from the people she came to call a family, she accepted leaving with Dimitri. Even tho she really didn't want to return to russia and when Dimitri exclosed to her that "leaving" meant "back to russia" she put up a fight, but was ultimately unsucessful and Dimitri brought her back. So all in all: Dimitri always looked out for her and made sure she was okay til the very end. And with that he also always accounted with happieness, because he saw what safety without emotional stability and plain misery did to her.
Her saying she has a stormflame waaas a blunder on her part. First of all, I changed storm to lightning. Second: She honestly just panicked when asked for her flame. It wasn't an interrogation she was just asked out of curiosity and she already started with "oh my flame is-" unable to backpedal so the first thing that came to her mind was thunder flame, which- girl. It's lightning, but that happens when she panics, so she said in a second attempt it's a lightning flame hahah it's both related right?? Further panicking she quickly added that it's like SUUUUPER weak and she never has to use it that's why she mixed it up just now, really she is totally not a fighter, she promises! Dera being suspicious is one thing since he was already sideeying, but Tsuna noticed her panic, just misinterpreted it as her believing she would have to fight, i mean she did repeatedly say she can't fight, and he reassured her that WHATEVER REBORN SAYS she won't have to be a fighter in any way. Reborn DID notice her stumbling and decided to keep an eye on her.
The thing about Dimitri I already explained: he saw himself as a part of the past that was making her unhappy. Even if he himself wasn't doing that, him just being her bodyguard would ALWAYS be a connection to her old life. And he didn't want that to her. though it's also why she is so happy to see him after so many years and is easily persuaded by him to follow.
Now while theater is her passion and so is just story telling in general, she dabbles in all kinds of things here and there. She likes sewing, baking, watching anime, reading manga or just books, having houseplants she keeps killing for some reason, and she has a bit of a thing for trinkets. Small knick knacks that are just pretty. They don't have an exact use, but she likes just having and looking at them, a small remaining trait from her being able to just GET things that were pretty even if they had no use. She is also REALLY into magical girls. Gokudera has his cryptids, aliens and ghost stories, Rena has her magical girls fighting with the power of love and friendship. Another remainder from her past is that she is really into ballet. Her family was regularly going to see ballets and she at LEAST goes once in the winter for either swanlake or Nutcracker because she is a basic bench.
When it comes to productions she would LOVE to put on the stage one of her favourites is "Waiting for Godot" it's a challenging play to produce as it is BASICALLY just a play about two guys waiting for this "Godot" and NOTHING ELSE. There are a few other characters, but it's mostly just those two trying to pass time. One she doesn't exactly want to produce herself, but maybe be part of or see come to fruition is Schillers Don Carlos, which made her actually cry by the end. "These two!! Their friendhsip is so beatiful!!!" - "who are you talking about?"

A point blank killing of Ivan would make more sense to me, so I’m just trying to dig into the world here and figure out if there were reasons he was left behind and how all this turmoil in her family happened.
Where did her family resettle, if they were forced out of the country? Did she like that country? Would she return there? Part 4!
The problem isnt the whole "oh she doesn't want to be put on stage!" and more: If she makes a production for, say, the national theater stage and it becomes a sensation, that may even cause other countries to make articles about it, she will have a gigantic chance of being outed. It its a small production that's local? Yeah, no issue. If it's even one thats known in the region? That's fine! But anything that might get OUTSIDE of the country? Difficult, at least up until AFTER her arc. Tho in gerneral she likes to stay behind the stage as in she doesn't like interviews or holding speeches or god forbid acting in a production. In a small group she does almost everything from organizing costumes and backdrops to making the script and directing the play itself. Once she forms an ensemble and gets a small theater she gets more additional help and can delegate these chores to people more suited for that. She does stay the primary director however and USUALLY also handles the script, as in rewrites or shortens it. Original plays are usually group projects with a LOT of the members improvising and coming together to conduct scenes that she then streamlines and scripts for.
I streamlined her families story a bit and I didn't want to outright say it, buuut YES it's the russian mafia. Russia has... a BIT of an issue with fascism? To say it mildly. I am no expert, but I can already tell from the propaganda reaching my mother that it's... not good... her fathers opinion is that "well yeah nothing you can do about it lol" as in he doesn't go against it, but he also doesn't actively ENCOURAGE it. He kind of tries to stay in the middle and it is SO frustrating to her, because she WISHED he wouldn't just give up the idea of there being a chance of changing at least their territory. It's why he wants her to take over, to prove him wrong and show that there IS a way to fight this deeply ingrained issue of far right politics. Now a Disclaimer: I do not want to imply that Russia is an irredeemable country only full of fascists and nazis. It's a place with deep seated issues and a lot of far right ideology, but it also has people who actively work against that and try to make things better. It's just hard when your country is ruled by a majourity of assholes and the big man in charge is a fascistic egomaniac, who believes he should conquer whatever place he wants and make himself the big boss. I don't want to get too much into this tho, it is not easy to talk about it and boil it down to a one paragraph explanation. I chose the russian mafia, because I believe they have been mentioned in the manga during the inheritance/shimon arc. (I checked, yeah one family was invited and then its members got taken out by the shimon), and because it's a form of coping on my part. Back to the topic: her father basically says "fine, then do it better." while Rena KNOWS she can't. Even if she can lead an ensemble it is VASTLY different from leading a mafia family. She knows she isn't cut out for it and it frustrates her, because she hates the situation and her own uselessness. Some people can not do certain things no matter how hard they try. And that's okay, but she is still upset.
So as said I streamlined the story a bit and removed the whole sucessful coup. While there was one, it didn't succeed. Her father could prove that he is NOT to be dethroned so easily and it caused a lot of bad blood in the region. However he rules with an iron fist in the "we look out for ourselves and our people and annihilate our enemies" kind of way. In a way him trying to push Rena into her heritage is him being a coward. He is so pessimistic about chances of things turning for the better that he himself won't even try. But if his daughter tries to make the world a better place, even if its in small steps, he will do anything to support her. It's a big conflict in the arc as she calls him out on it and he has to grapple with the possibility of her not becoming his heir and either doing something for improvement himself or finding someone else.
While Rena doesn't actively try to reach back home, Dimitri at least updates her father on her. Her mother TRIES to kind of force her back, but her father alway shuts that down. Renas mother is difficult and while she still loves her parents any way of trying to reach back home would expose her. And that turns to be a legitimate concern as the MOMENT someone by CHANCE connects her to being the russian families heir, someone is sent after her. It doesn't matter if she ran away or not, in the eyes of many, her heritage means that she is a problem and needs to be eradicated. And that's why in the end her father orders Dimitri to bring her back. He doesn't trust these kids to keep Rena save (let's ignore that Dimitri is just 2 years older) and as much as he wants to allow her her freedom, he sees his own pessimism once more confirmed. There is no way for her to get out of this, he can't leave her alone, she HAS to be back home and follow her heritage. And Rena-- while it's harsh and she misses her parents she also has to remind herself, that at some point her mother would've arranged her to get married, have kids and her father would expect her to inherit the family. And even as a child she had realized that it's NOT something she is cut out for. She doesn't want to follow the path set out for her and the only way she knew how to get out of there was to literally flee the country and start a new life. If she had kept her name people would've found her and her father has a LIST of enemies that would see her as an easy target even WITH Dimas help. Not to mention the hostility from outside influences.

Part 3!
You brought up the whole age thing and yea, technically ambo doesn't need childcare per se, but he is still like 10-12 or something wich in my eyes is still a child. Even if he doesnt chill with the literal toddlers I doubt he should be left unsupervised. In germany there is a thing called "Hort" it's a sort of after school daycare for children in elementaryschool age and up where they can have lunch, do their homework and play, until their parents get them or it's a time when they can go home bc their parents will be home. The place near me had actually children from around end of kindergarten up to maybe 7th or 8th grade so the ages of 4-14 or so sometimes even older just bc the parents worked so late and the kids themselves didn't want to be home alone (The translater I frequent translated it as after-school-care-facility). These places usually have different groups, usually putting kids of similar agegroups together and supervised by multiple care takers, depending on the size of the group. They do many recreational things like journaling, crafting, board games, scavenger hunts and the like. It really depends on the facility. Some have gardens, some have playgrounds or at least sandboxes and swings. I thought that Rena would fit into such an environment as she could jump into different groups and do her theater recretional time with the kids to keep them entertained. In the end THAT is her whole job. Doing theater, or at least using theater as a way to engage the kids. Other directly educated caretakers do work there as well and I will be honest, I thought "day care" would imply this sort of form of facility. While I also thought of a form of kindergarten being included and she IS a good babysitter, I imagined her work, which she gets payed for, being more in that category.
The whole Dino and Reborn thing was scrapped so nothing to say there. Why italy? To be honest: because plot. I haven't come up with anything (yet), but it's probably also a form of "it's far away from where i come from" reason. Maybe it's also directly BECAUSE italy is so heavy in the mafia politics and territorial that she thought her family would have a harder time getting her from there.
why has Hibari not killed her yet? Because he's barely around and there is no real reason for her to butt heads with him. Gokudera can be confrontational, but Hibari is kiiind of the person that... leaves... when he isn't interested? At least from what I can tell. to him, Rena is... There? Like Kyoko and Haru. Yeah, she is a bit more active maybe, especially when she starts dating Gokudera but, really, he gives her as much attention as he does Ryohei for example. As for the other listed people: She... never met Xanxus to be honest? She met the Unseen Varia and she DOES openly say that he sounds like a jackass, only to be told "I hope you never actually say that to his face. Though I doubt he will care about the opinion of a Semi-Civi." She also hasn't met BEL, however she has voiced that she believes Lorenzo has been treated unfairly, which in response, DID get Lorenzo riled up into actually screaming at her to stay the FUCK out of the Varia buisness. It was harsh, but she hasn't talked about that since. She listens to the others complain and talk about her work, but usually just comments "well, you guys know what I think about all this.". She HAS met Squalo, but despite popular fanon I see him as WAY more chill than most people initially believe. She also HAS voiced how she believes he is ESPECIALLY harsh in how he treats Yamamoto, to which she just got a "and you are???". Good thing that Ava likes her and doesn't see someone saying "hey maybe you SHOULDN'T physically abuse your prodigee???" as an insult to his brother or YEAH! SHE'D BE VERY DEAD VERY QUICK. The entire Unseen Varia DOES get into trouble for getting involved in her arc, but Sergey steps forward to take the fall for everyone mostly and he is 100% supporting her and INSISTS that it was his personal agenda and that he did not act as a Varia member, but himself. She is careful in HOW she voices her opinions, usually trying to be constructive, but she does sometimes run her mouth and it's not that she gets away with it all the times. She is regularly called out and threatened to lose her position or even her life if she doesn't shut up. Quite honestly people either really like her or REALLY dislike her and find her annoying and rude.

PART 2!
When it comes to really trusting her it's a cobination of intuition, observance and circumstance. During the Italia Daily Life Arc it's Sergey and Ava who disclose how important it is for the family to keep good relations with the locals in italy and that the way you best can achieve that is with cultural events like festivities, plays, concerts and the like (I mean if there isn't more pressing matters like violence and starvation going on). So naturally Tsunas first thought goes to a sort of cultural festival like they do in the schools in japan. Food, small presentations, fun activities- the like. One thing most notably among that is performances of different clubs and that's when Rena comes into play as she is a good line between the already established theater scene and the Neo Vongola. Even tho she has only been on Reborns radar and not officially scouted it's her competance and behavior during this instance that kind of greenlights her. Especially because Sergey backs her. Like previously mentioned he gets behind her identity, but at first he just believes her to be a refugee from the slavic region which--- he isn't really wrong on that one? So feeling a form of solidarity, he hopes that by endorsing her he can help her become protected by the family. (Did I just figure out how she joins the team even tho I said I was still working that out? See this is why the rubber duck technique works with writing as well, for me at least)
In regards to the kids: Rena is basically someone who is specialized in robots being asked to be a technical maintenance worker. While there is overlap and similarities, it's not their main realm of expertise. Same with Rena. She has learned how to deal with kids, but that doesn't make her a child caretaker. It's Rebron who puts her into the stress test situation and despite some near mental breakdowns she pulls through DUE to her using theater methods. She utilizes Lambos need to play himself up and I-pins sense of responsibility to construct a small pretend play in which all of them have their designated role and have to follow some simple rules set up by her as the sort of game master. Lambo gets to be the big shot he always wants to be, I-pin learns how to play a sort of knight that wrengles the wild card Lambo in WITHOUT knocking people up with Gyoza Kenpo and she even manages to give Futa a small role so the kids are occupied and happy. Once it's clear that she will take care of them all more down the line she actually... takes Futa aside and is honest with him. To a degree at least. She tells him that while what he does is great and important that more than anyone else he knows that he can unveil secrets people don't want to come to light. And that she is similar. There are things she keeps hidden for a reason. Not maliciously, but because her past isn't that easy for her. So she asks him, that if he ever comes across her secrets to keep them to himself UNLESS its for the safety of the Neo Vongola. Futa recognizes her sincerity and plea and promises her to not tell anyone, unless necesary. It's actually next to Sergey coming clean about Renas past, the other reason that ensures Rena isn't outright declared a traitor, since her ranking for betraying the Neo Vongola is VERY far down. And they know Futas rankings don't lie.
It's so funny you mentioned her not being much of a fighter, because I kind of reworked that now, hahaha;;; let's say she is still trained but she doesn't WANT to be. She can protect herself fine, she isn't a total civi, but ofc nowhere near any of the guardians. She wants to live a life where her not being a fighter is not a lie she says to protect herself, but an actual truth. She WANTS a normal life, she WANTS to be someone with an unremarkable name who is basically a nobody aside of her aspirations in the theater field. She can not change her past, but she can shape her future and her future is that of peace and "normalcy" in her life.
Like mentioned I reworked her position to basically only one person getting behind her lies. Which only makes the fallout all the more harrowing. While Reborn does have her in his peripheral vision it's her interacting with the Neo Vongola family during their effort to organize the festival, that ultimately makes her friends with everyone, the girls first and formost. Especially Tsuna gets to see how despite her APPEARING like she is always in control of the situations and knows what to do, it's 70% fake-it-till-you-make-it. He sees her needing a breather after successfully roping Lambo back in from one of his stunts. He sees her quietly panic, when things that she had planned don't work out and she has to improvise. He sees her grappling with her own emotions despite showing to the outside that she is in full control of herself. And hat is important, because Rena? Yeah she has a bit of a helper complex. She believes SHE has to fix everything even if it isn't related to her. After all that's what she was raised to one day become. She is the leader of the group, an organizer of the event, she MUST be the one in control and finding solutions. And on the outside she seems like she can do it and is a veteran in these things to the point of it coming natural to her. But the truth is that she DOES panic, she DOES have moments of anxiety and fear, she DOES get stressed at the kids, she DOES blank sometimes and needs a moment to regain herself and Tsuna notices especially, because throughout it all, she CONSTANTLY offers to help Tsuna with his issues. Every time Tsuna has a "WHAT SHOULD I DO?!" moment, she seems to magically appear and give at LEAST an idea if not straight up a solution for the problems. But he is also the person that catches the cracks in her facade and finds her in the backroom, curled up and trying to calm down, shaking even, before she takes a few deep breaths and tries to move on. Eventually he actually seeks a talk with her and she opens up about how she knows this is a problem of hers, but she really really wants to be useful and prove herself. Which seems very familiar... She also admits, that all of these respnsibilities are incredibly suffocating and scary. Yes, she can not avoid them, because of her position and work, but that doesn't mean that she is a natural born leader or something. Especially because, she CAN NOT show that she is struggling. She has to be the one people look back to when things get difficult and she has to be the one that gives everyone the confidence that things will be allright. That too... seems familiar. So while Tsuna was initially glad that he could rely on her he reexamines that and decides to help her more. He will take over duties, he will find solutions, so she doesn't spread herself thin. They will work TOGETHER. It's the start of their friendship and since she doesn't exactly have many other friends, she... kind of goes to check on the Neo Vongola when she has free time, to escape her own lonelieness and feel like she belongs somewhere. Inevitably she just becomes part of the group.

OOOOOh My god I am laughing hahahaha! I never saved what I wrote in this ask so Rena ended up being reworked quite a bit and this will be so much FUN to answer!
Her name was reworked but in any case to the question of her picking that name and how she basically immigrated to italy: Her last name has no significance. She basically saw it somewhere, maybe as a brand, maybe as someone credited in a movie and decided to pick it, because it sounded good to her. RENA is actually the name of a character from a fictional in universe novel series that she likes a lot. She always loved that character and in true cringe fashion decided to make that her new name. Now concerning the papers. Dimitri helped her leave the country and made sure to get her false documents. With these forged documents she managed to get a LEGAL entry in another country and used then THOSE very much LEGAL documents to come to italy, so if anyone wanted to check on her backstory they really would have to DIG dig to find the forged papers.
In the rework actually nobody knows of her origin. Despite Reborn being a bit suspicious of her, he doesn't dig when she shortens her story of "I kind of ran from home and don't want to be found out". Not sensing any lies in what she said he didn't pursue it further, but kept an eye on her until she had proven herself to be trustworthy. In the new canon it's actually SERGEY, one of the Varia rain division second in command, who figures out her origin, due to being familiar with the political and underworld situation in the slavic speaking region. Even though Rena never actually told him, he could pick up on the small details and kept the truth to himself, since he didn't want to trouble her or get her needlessly in danger by blowing her cover open. Only later when he himself gets involved in her arc does he disclose her backstory to the Neo Vongola and even his own coworkers.
Rena was actually not scouted when she was Tsunas age. She ran from home at the age of 14 and managed to at least get a second grade education (this in germany, where there is three types of school after elementary, all with different levels of education, the "lowest" being up to grade 9, the middle to grade 10, and the highest up tograde 12/13 and that highest graduation being a necesity to go to university. Rena got up to grade 10, did that schools graduation and stopped there). So she basically finished school by age 16-17 and then went on to go to specialized theater school for 4 additional years in italy. She made it there again with some additional help. It's at the tail end of her 3rd year, when her final project that year is to produce a childrens play of a fairytale when she catches Reborns eyes, who sees her potential (why was he there? IRRELEVANT). Despite most of her work being SUITED for children and childcare falls close to it, she would rather work as a theater coach/producer with adults of age 18 and up, just because she believes working with them is easier. However her school prepares her for all kinds of clients/participants of all ages and backgrounds. Like MANY of the Neo Vongola that Reborn kind of throws together she isn't exactly expertly educated in the field she later occupies. So when she officially joins she is already in her early 20s. (as I can imagine the Neo Vongola get to work only AFTER finishing highschool and maybe 1-2 additional years.
No matter where in the end the Neo Vongola reside, italy or japan, Rena leaves it all behind (However in my rendition, they do all move to italy). She had friends where she lived and good relations, but never any connection that truly allowed her to trust another person, so saying goodbye was not that difficult. The Neo Vongola (and Sergey and Ava) are the first people after Dimitri that she truly trusts and opens up to even if she doesn't disclose her past.
To be fair I don't really think ANY of the guardians have much interest in theater. Especially not in the way Rena does it. It's a foreign concept really and there is a lot preconceived notion about how it must be boring, stillted and just plain weird. Still she invites them all to come to her very first premier of her very first theater group she established. Yamamoto IS indeed interested to see what she has been working on, and so is Chrome. Kyoko and Haru definitely want to go which in turn ropes in Tsuna and subsequently Gokudera. Despite it being still slightly amateurish it has a lot of heart and captivates the audience, because when it's good it's REALLY good. Even if Yamamoto won't see himself become a theater nerd, he definitely decides to check out more of her work specifically because he enjoyed how she set up the whole performance. Chrome actually becomes interested in theater and after a small talk with Rena she recomends the other a few plays that might interest her. Tsuna enjoyed himself, buuut that doesn't mean he truly understood much of it. Rena reassures him that as long as he FELT something they did their job. Gokudera isn't... suuuure how he feels about it? Yeah he enjoyed himself, it was a fine evening, but he also KNEW the play in question and didn't exactly understand some of her directorial decisions. This is the first time the two actually hold a rather long conversation about the topic over some drinks at the after show party she invites him to. Having primarily seen her as just "some other woman" Reborn roped in, he comes to appreciate her and her intelligence when it comes to literature and the arts. He doesn't have such discussions often with the other guardians so it's kind of refreshing to have a intellectually diverse talk with someone who is more versed in these arts. From then on it's kind of just what she does. It's her passion. It's like Yamamoto and baseball. It's a part of him, but that doesn't make the others all super into the sport. However Gokudera and Chrome definitely bond with her over the topic. In Gokuderas case, less because he is into theater and more into the stimulating talks they have with each other over deeper topics. Chrome actually comes to really get into classical literature.
I can see Reborn as someone who has a fine taste in culture. It's often shown in the cultural references in his disguises. So when he stumbles over her work and sees her interact with the children he thinks of the future of the family and how Tsuna and his guardians might come to build their own personal families down the line. Having someone who is reliable when it comes to childcare is definitely important, ESPECIALLY when it regards the HEAD OF THE FAMILY. Sooo he keeps an eye on her, even if the topic isn't exactly that pressing. I will be honest I haven't worked out what the moment is that Reborn looks at her and goes "that one!", sooo I am working on it!
So it seems like tumblr wont let me post more/longer text so I will continue this in a few more reblogs
