More personal Eterna AU notes! Partially for my writing reference, partially for my DRAWING reference, if I ever manage to get the layer drawing done and not just thought out.
Empurata Shockwave's Layered Armour, or: Being Made Into A Living Weapon By Flatline On Megatron's Orders
Layer 0: Skin and 'feathering' (moth wing feathering, located on wings and the sides of his neck, protecting sensitive areas). Technically not armour, but relevant. Covered in open, infected pressure sores, friction burns, and bruises that never quite manage to heal. Shockwave is unable to actually get to his skin to provide medical attention or to clean himself, so infection is rampant, as well as cracking, painful skin from the inability to clean. Open sores have led to the next few layers of armour becoming embedded in his skin. Left arm is wasted and atrophied, bent at an odd angle and clearly unusable from the elbow down. Neck is severely scarred, both front and back. Chest and abdominal scaling is weak and brittle, with broken edges digging into skin. Side of chest is extremely scarred and infected due to a hastily and inexpertly repaired blaster wound. It has not healed fully and has not for quite some time, by all appearances. Chest ports are inflamed and dirty, a data cable welded into one of said ports to act as a bridge, as all ports will be unavailable otherwise due to increasing armour layers. Dual secondary feeding ports in side of neck and stomach are consistently inflamed, with the stomach one being the worse off and unusable.
Layer 1: Clothing. Or rather, remnants of clothing. Synthetic fiberweave tank top and shorts, originally used as a protective under layer for his former armour, to prevent it from rubbing. With Shockwave unable to remove his outer layers of armour, however, the clothing has decayed, with bits of filthy, sweat and rust-crusted fibers becoming enmeshed in open pressure sores and digging its way into Shockwave's flesh. Remnants of clothing -- neckline and waistline, specifically -- have constricted with time and movement, resulting in 'rope burn'-like injuries to waist and shoulder girdle (Trapezius). What few bits remain of said clothing will crumble into dust when touched.
Layer 2: First actual armour layer. Thin sheets of metal welded into the rough shapes of proper armour, then forcibly welded to Shockwave's skin itself. Most of this layer has rusted through, and actually consists more of rust and holes than any actual usable metal at this point. Much of this rust, or the sharpened leftover bits of rusty metal itself, has become embedded in the pressure sores in the skin underneath it. This armour is literally held on by its welds into Shockwave's skin, and he cannot access them to rip it off. This layer causes constant pain when moving. another male-to-male data cable is spliced into the first one, creating a chain for cable access.
Layer 3: 'Repair' layer for the first layer. Welded alternately to the welds against skin or to the remnants of the second itself. Most of the welds to the rusted layer have failed, leaving the armour hanging on, once again, to skin. This layer is slightly more formed, though still rough and clunky. A few millimeters thicker as well, so rust is not quite as pervasive. Holes still litter the metal, though, and individual pieces are worn through at joints, creating sharp edges. Another short male-to-male cable is spliced in, continuing to provide access to the data port in Shockwave's chest.
Layer 4: First layer of actual plate armour. Micro-scale plate. Energy-weapon deflection, looks like roughly-beaten dragon scaling armour. More maneuverable than the layer underneath, almost serving as a chain-mail that covers Shockwave from head to toe, including wrapping around his arms and legs loosely, catching on the layer beneath in some places. This is the first layer to completely cover the abdomen and neck, leaving only the neck feeding port available for use. Increases Shockwave's bulk significantly. Male-to-male cable of the previous layer is threaded in between scales to hang loose, also preventing the chestplate scales from moving entirely freely.
Layer 5: Second layer of plate. Segmented, overlapping plates of thickened metal that tapers to a thin edge on the 'bottom' of each plate, acting as some kind of blast-protection while still allowing for movement. Each plate is welded to the one behind/next to it, with the larger base plates physically riveted to Layer 3, through Layer 4. This is the first layer to cover the backs of the fingers, and extend the length of the legs via lengthening boots that are heavily segmented, increasing Shockwave's height by 3 feet. Another male-to-male cable is welded in place, continuing the fire-hazard data cable. This one, however, is actually welded into a chestplate segment instead of hanging loose, providing some stability. This is the layer the incredibly heavy blaster that covers his wasted, useless left arm is welded to, preventing its removal entirely.
Layer 6: 'Padded' immobilization shell. Think riot gear armour. Thick and heavy metal and ceramic combination plate, adding additional blast protection and massively increased body mass. Leg armour is reinforced with visible struts, and the lengthening boots are reinforced as well, including an additional layer of shock absorbers and a magnetized sole to the boots themselves, increasing Shockwave's height another 2.5 feet. Male-to-male cable is plugged into the previous layer's weld, and this one is forced into a pseudo-port and welded in place. This layer's neck-armour is reinforced, limiting the movement of Shockwave's head. This is also the layer that adds 'racks' to Shockwave's back, in between his wing-coverings, and running around to his chest itself to hold the belt of energy cartridges that feeds his blaster-arm. A cable that runs from the blaster itself is attached to a sensor that allows feeding of the cartridges, and a secondary sensor is spliced into the back of Shockwave's neck, allowing for soul-shots using his own spark's energy should he run out of physical ammunition.
Layer 7: Outer plate layer. The layer that bots typically see, that is painted and bears the insignia of a faction. Thicker than normal, but heavily segmented to allow the appearance of ease of movement. Completely covers all the other underlayers, as well as provides a backpack/front pack that is welded to him, covering the blaster belt. Access to change/reload the belt itself is through a hatch in the front of the pack, easily accessible one-handed This entire setup is streamlined with the rest of Shockwave's body, making it impossible to see what he is carrying underneath this layer. It forces his chestplate out, but biolights are built into the chestplate 'front pack' covering, connected to the real biolights that are actually located in the sides of his neck, underneath the remnants of his feathering, allowing him to control them, so it appears as though he just has massive headlights built into his chest. Data cable access port is through another hatch just under this jutting-out portion of hist chestplate, and is the only access to the under-layer of armour that Shockwave has.
Layer 8: Spot welds! Individual plates covering cracks in the previous layer. Spotty and few, but adds a slight bit more protection to the cracked areas that could not be repaired by a simple solder.
In total, Shockwave's mass is increased by nearly 1500 percent. It does a NUMBER on his skeleton.

“Why can’t we just talk about it —”
"We've already talked about it, Prowler," Jazz growled from his side of the door, holding it shut with his shoulder, despite Prowl having given up trying to shove it open. "We've talked about it, an' talked about it, for years, an' you still don't bother t'question before you go off an' do somethin' like this wi'out seein' if your TAC-net's gettin' you losin' your common sense again!" "But it turned out just fine!" Prowl protested, leaning his head against the front door to the apartment he shared (normally shared) with his furious Conjunx, his doorwings drooping just slightly. "The Twins -- both sets, Jazz! -- came out of things just fine, just as I had ascertained they would!" Jazz was silent, staring mutely at the door. He could feel Prowl's EM field flickering toward him, and he resolutely shoved it aside, pulling his own so close as to nearly have it inside his skin. He did not want Prowl touching him at the moment. He let the silence carry, too angry to immediately allow himself to speak, and he could feel Prowl's unease rising from the other side of the door. "Jazz--" "'Just fine'." Jazz's voice was quiet. "Is it 'just fine' that those four 've worried their parents half'ta death for the past two months, not knowin' where they were? Younglin's not even old enough ta have jobs in the old days, out on their own, radio-silent under your orders, infiltratin' a Decepticon hold-out all the way out in Darkmount!?" He let some of his anger pulse out through the door, and the way it creaked, Prowl had physically recoiled from it. "Is it 'just fine' that two'a them are our nephews, an' their poor triplet's been so worried she ain't hardly eat for those two months 'cause she could barely feel her brothers? Windblade's sick 'cause'a your stupidity! Sunny and Sideswipe are havin' night-terrors 'cause'a your stupidity! Primus only knows what the Jet-Twins are goin' through, they ain't left Starscream and Skyfire's sight since they got back, because'a your stupidity!" The longer he spoke, the louder Jazz had gotten, until he was nearly yelling through the door, his voice more frustrated and furious than Prowl had ever heard him, his tape deck whirring so loud that it made a feasible substitute for an engine rumble. "We've talked about this, about you givin' in ta the TAC-net an' not even thinkin' about the livin' consequences of your actions, til I'm blue in the face."
The level of emotion Jazz was feeling was making him hyperventilate. He could feel Prowl's annoyance, his bewilderment, his underlying guilt that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that his husband had known what he had done was wrong, not just from a safety perspective, but moraly and familially wrong, and had known from the beginning, and yet he had chosen to ignore it to go with what his battle computer had told him was the logical choice. The conflicting sensations made Jazz feel physically ill. He wrenched the door open, leaving the chain on to prevent Prowl from entering. He looked up, but he couldn't stand the thought of looking Prowl in the face, so he stared over his shoulder, at the silently-glowering Optimus Prime keeping Prowl from retreating away from their front steps.
"You put those kids in mortal danger," Jazz hissed. "I don't care if they are technic'ly Autobots 'n bear the brand, that was necessity, this stunt was not. They're younglin's, Prowl, barely outta sparklin' age, and two'a them are our nephews. You know better."
The sparkbreak trembling through Jazz's voice, under the anger, made Prowl's words die on his tongue. He couldn't deny it. He did know better, but his battle computer had given his plan a 93% chance of success if it involved the Jet-twins and the two boys of Blurr and Vortex's triplets, utilizing the boys' bond as best friends and twin-sets. He'd known their parents wouldn't agree, because of the danger and the age of the younglings, had known then what he was doing was wrong and morally reprehensible on some level, and thus had told the boys to not tell their parents, to fabricate an argument and 'run away' for this mission.
He'd known.
The betrayal in Jazz's eyes, barely visible through his visor, said that he knew it too. Prowl had known, and Prowl had done it anyway. Prowl had ignored his Conjunx's pleading to listen to his spark and not his battle computer now that peacetime was upon them, had ignored the work they'd done together to help Prowl overcome the urge to fall into the battle computer's calculations for everything.
Jazz couldn't even look him in the eye. He was so angry that Prowl couldn't feel him; it was like trying to touch an empty shell. He'd never been this angry at him, not even when Prowl had bad-mouthed Soundwave near the beginning of the war.
Jazz was so upset now that he was trembling, the sound of his tape-deck rewind wheels screaming as he fought to keep himself under some kind of control. Jazz didn't lose control, but the fact that he was visibly struggling now was a bit...frightening. "Jazzy, we can talk about this," Prowl tried to soothe, feeling something in him shatter just a little bit when Jazz shook his head, finally deigning to look the taller Praxian in the eye. The hurt in Jazz's expression was agonizing. "No, Prowler, we can't," Jazz finally said, his jaw working hard as he fought back the words he didn't want to say, though the agonized, furious sparkbreak roiling through his frame was all too audible. "You know you did wrong, an' 'til you're willin' to admit you did wrong, apologise to those kids an' their parents...an' to me, you ain't comin' in this house. I don't want you near me."
He looked up, over Prowl's shoulder, and stared at Optimus for a long moment before looking back at his husband, staring resolutely at his chestplate. "...get outta here, Prowl. I'll pack somma your things an' send 'em by Chromedome next time I see 'im."
And with that, he shut the door.

Transformers Headcanon Time 3: There's A THIRD?
Today's Subject: Cybertronian Sex and Gender!
Been a while since one of these came up, huh? I haven't been idle, however, despite the lack of writing about it. Remedying some of that NOW. Again with the disclaimer that this is for a fan continuity, the Eterna AU, so please take everything with a grain of salt. This is how it works for this particular AU, and if it does not align with your own personal headcanons, that is perfectly fine! Your headcanons are yours, not part of this particular fan continuity!
Once again again, we’re going to condense things and call Cybertronians AND the colony-worlders by the umbrella-term “Cybertronian” because it saves me typing and helps with my brain fog, keeping things clearer when I write.
Necessary background: Cybertronians are, as humans define it, an asexual species. They have no genitalia as humans define them, everyone has the exact same thing -- a Spark -- and that is all that is needed. No external genitalia, no internal genitalia or genital organ structures. As mentioned in Headcanon 2: Electric Boogaloo, all Cybertronians are capable of forming a Gestational Forge or laying eggs if they reproduce on their own, and thus there is no sexual difference. With no genitalia, they are not a hermaphroditic species, they are truly 'lacking sex', and thus, asexual, in the scientific (non sexual orientation) way.
HOWEVER.
Cybertronians have 3 distinct 'neurological genders': Mech, Fem, and Novi. There has been debate about increasing this to 4, as the 'Novi' category has two very distinct subtypes, and among the Novi themselves the distinction has resulted in a split into two more neurological genders, Novi and Eda, but legally, there has been no change. For the sake of inclusivity, Novi and Eda will be referred to as separate neurological genders in this essay.
The neurological patterning covering the processor is distinct enough between the four to call them 'genders', with Mech neurological circuit patterns tending toward branched lines, Fem toward interlocking rings, Novi toward connected starbursts, and Eda toward concentric ripples. It is also common for Novi and Eda patterning-structures to be far more dense in certain areas than either Mech or Fem.
There are, of course, variations and 'intermediate' steps in between each of the four types that might equate to the spectrum of intersex individuals for humanity, but there is so much individuality in these variations that they have not been classified as a 'true' fifth gender. Most bots who fall into the variation spectrum personally lean toward one of the other genders, and if they do not, Cybertronians and humans actually share a word for this: Agender.
Mech, since the encounter with humans, has become equated to 'male'. Fem has become equated to 'female'. Novi and Eda donot seem to have a biological human sex counterpart, as 'intersex' among humans has too much variety to easily compare to a Novi or Eda. The closest human terminology seems to be 'nonbinary', and while for humans sex and gender seem to be two separate things, the term is accurate enough for a Cybertronian, as they are biologically sexless, with no reproductive difference between Mech, Fem, Novi, Eda, or any variations in between. Any and all Cybertronians can be a sire or a carrier, barring health issues or other barriers caused by frame type incompatibilities, and their neurological gender has nothing to do with reproductive viability.
Under Functionism, by long-enforced decree of the Senate, only one in thirteen bots born or forged, whether via The Well, Hotspot, or the increasingly-frowned-upon Carrier methodology (whether or not it was achieved via carrier self-splitspark or with sire(s)), could be deemed a Fem, with none being deemed a Novi or Eda, in an attempt to force the population to self-regulate types of alt-modes and enforce classist boundaries. Fem-designated bots were exclusively limited to small, slight frames, deemed weaker and thus more protected and 'fragile' than their forced-Mech counterparts.
Before Functionism, bots born were simply scanned as their protoforms solidified and settled into circuitry patterns, and their gender revealed. They were not locked into this gender, either; as they became more themselves, they were free to transition if they so chose, and their new pronouns in Cybex (and later Neocybex) would reflect the change. They were not limited in body shape nor alt-mode according to their neurological gender, either, only by what their bodies would accept, which varies from individual to individual, though anecdotal preferential 'trends' do tend to appear among the genders.
Mech body-types in general lean toward larger, bulkier, and comparatively stronger than the others, with their alt-modes tending to reflect this, being larger trucks or heavier cars, including muscle cars, large planes, helicopters, or starships (bombers, shuttles, or gunships), larger boats in the old days when Cybertron had oceans, or heavier-duty construction equipment. Beastformer Mechs tend to be bulkier or more heavily-armoured animals and insects for their body size, with longer teeth, horns, antlers, claws, and/or heavier shoulders than their Novi, Eda, or Fem counterparts.
Fem body-types in general lean toward shorter and more lithe than the Mechs, though not necessarily as tiny as what they were forced into under Functionism. They also tend to be much faster, and their alt-modes tend to reflect this, leaning more toward motorcycles, drag-race cars, smaller compact cars, fighter jets or reconnaisance planes, small 'bubble' style helicopters, or smaller starships, such as starfighters, small watercraft like jetskis, or small versions of the mech construction equipment, designed for tighter spaces or handling more delicate parts. Beastformer Fems tended toward sleeker and more lithe than their mech counterparts, albeit with sharper teeth and claws, with some beast alts foregoing things like antlers or horns entirely, in return for being much faster and more agile.
Novi and Eda body-types run the gamut much more than their Mech or Fem counterparts, though in general they fall somewhere in between, though they are more prone to extreme outliers in size and weight. There are exceptions, just as there are for Mech and Fem, so this is not a hard and fast rule, though many Novis tend to have slightly longer limbs and/or digits in comparison to their body than their Mech, Fem, or Eda counterparts, regardless of the rest of their frame. Edas, meanwhile, tend to have thicker shins and feet in comparison to other genders of similar builds, and tend to be slightly more sturdily-built than a Novi of the same frame-type. Novis and Edas both are much more likely to be standard race cars, '4-wheeler' style and amphibious/hover ATVs, small bi-planes or steath fighters, wind-powered watercraft like sailboats, small submersibles, and 'lamprey' style spacecraft that are designed to attach to larger craft and serve as close-quarters guardians. Beastformers tend to have smaller antlers or horns than Mechs, in some cases lacking them entirely like Fems, depending on Mech-to-Fem ratio in their given areas, while Novi and Eda Beastformers tend to, surprisingly, actually have longer fangs and claws than their Mech counterparts, though not as sharp as most Fems'. In the case of Insecticons and Avianformers, Novis and Edas tend to be more brightly or intricately patterned than either Mech or Fem of the same insect type, and their wings tend to be longer or more numerous than either of the others, though a Novi will lean more toward excessive patterning, while Eda lean more toward excessive colouration.
Under the Functionist Senate, Novis (and Edas, as a result) did not exist, and they were typically relegated to Mechs, with a rare Fem occasionally actually being an Eda or a Novi. In addition, any bot that would have otherwise been a Fem whose birth protoform was too large to reasonably accomodate a forced alt-mode that was typically assigned to Fems -- such as a motorcycle -- was assigned to be a Mech, whether or not their neurological patterning readily accepted a Mech-stype altmode or not. Many later 'transitioned' Fems discovered that they had a much easier time scanning and maintaining a Fem-style altmode than they ever had as a Mech, validating their decision to transition. On the other hand, any very small birth protoform tended to be assigned as a Fem, with the same results for forced-feminization as for forced-mechanization for their assigned-Mech counterparts.
Novis and Edas, on the other hand, often found themselves unable to take an alt mode of any kind, as their neurological programming tended to reject forced alts at a young age of both types, and many children and newbuilts, whether they were assigned Mech or Fem, found themselves altless until a much later age than their peers as a result, unless someone took pity on them and assigned them an alt that would have, once upon a time, been a 'true' Novi or Eda alt, now divided up between the Mech and Fem approved alt-mode lists for frame type.
Nowadays, Functionism does not exist, and thus bots are free to be who they are, without being forced into a narrow definition decided by others. This is, sadly, taking some getting used to for quite a few bots, and going has been slow. The rejoining of the lost colonies to Cybertron, however, has helped in this regard, as most of the lost colonies split from Cybertron before the rise of Functionism, and never developed the strict gender roles and alts forced upon their originator planet.

OMG I GOT IT DONE. I am not shading this thing, you can FORGET it.
Info under the readmore
Info: This is one of Shockwave's Forms, of which he has several, each of which is an 'aspect' of himself as the Whole.
Transformers Animated Continuity: Blurred Lines and Shifted Sparks Form Name: Wavelength Form Aspect: Control Pronouns: They/She Size: Modified Scout (slightly taller than Bee. Shorter than Blurr. About the same height as Longarm was.) Alt-mode: Powered Windglider (windsurfing board) If anyone wonders why they're so skinny? Shockwave has been in Trypticon for a year. He's been quite sick and is recovering from some pretty damn severe injuries inflicted on him by both Ultra Magnus and those in power in Trypticon itself. He almost died, even after Blurr got him out and Ratchet got hold of him in the Earth Team's medbay.
So he's quite underweight, and even with his ability to mass-displace as a shapeshifter...you gotta have mass to displace. He currently weighs barely more than Bumblebee, when he should weigh about what Optimus does in his base form as Shockwave. The Earth Team is working on that. This is reflected in Wavelength, as they haven't got the mass to make herself any larger than she is.
...also no I have not forgotten how to draw either the Autobot or Decepticon insignias. The insignia Wavelength is wearing is neither. That is the symbol of the Pax...what the Earth Team is working on.

The lady Wolpertinger herself, staring down at you with absolute disapproval. (And if you ask me why 'wolpertinger'....my friend, she is a flying rabbit with horns. Even in CANON she looks like a rabbit. What else would she be?)
People expect Cyclonus to just have a 'blank' head, maybe a few little spikes, without her helmet. In reality she has absolutely ridiculous rabbit ears alongside remnants of the primordial fluff that Cybertronians are born covered in. She keeps those ears rolled up like fuzzy sushi rolls under her helmet to help block sounds and keep them out of the way when she's wearing it.
And @archie-sunshine I am 100% 'blaming' you for the ear-shape thanks to your knightformers AU. Those MASSIVE ears fit her perfectly. (Note this is NOT knightformers AU, this is my own actual-robot, but the ears were inspired by archie.)

Public speaking is actually really easy if you don't respect a single soul in that room. I've had an incredibly easy time delivering speeches when I hated everybody I saw and they all thought I did amazing because my disdain was read as confidence. I don't have any tips for you I'm just telling you a fact

Fandom: Transformers Animated (2007) Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Characters: Shockwave (Transformers), Skyquake (Transformers), Wildbreak (Transformers), Transformers OC Additional Tags: Blurred Lines AU, Mention of Gore, Part of a greater plot, Warning for momentary violence, Shockwave is a good uncle, he's just very mad, What would have possibly happened if The Cube DIDN'T happen, or at least part of it, no beta we die Series: Part 1 of Blurred Lines and Shifted Sparks Summary:
(Eventually) a collection of smaller one-shots set within the TFA: Blurred Lines and Shifted Sparks universe, where Blurr was never cubed and Shockwave...winds up being a traitor, but for the other side. If friendships had remained, had turned into something MORE, and Suddenly There Are Going To Be Some Serious Changes Around Here. These are the side-bits that don't fit into the main plotline, though they are definitely part of it, and involve multiple characters and multiple viewpoints. Not necessarily Blurrwave.
Just FYI, as more one-shots get added, the rating WILL more than likely go up, very possibly to Explicit. Warnings for any explicit or chapters will come at the beginning of the chapter, so they can be skipped if that's not your cup of tea.

1, 3 and 4 for your OC of choice? :D
@sleepyforestbeast
Oooh, okaaay. Gonna combine the best of both worlds then since the kid's been on my mind, you're getting a Transformers OC. XD
Name: Tripwire Age: the equivalent of 17. He is baby. NOW ON TO THE QUESTIONS! 1. are they associated with a certain color? what color do they wear the most?
Surprisingly, yes. Tripwire is associated -- to me, at least -- with dark heather green and the colour of pale green quartzite, which I've seen labeled as 'glacial green'. He's albino, and with Cybertronians having grey-toned skin and going through rapid depigmentation when they die, I didn't want to make him be pale silver. So, instead, his skin has a slight pale green cast to it, that matches the blue-greenish tint to his eyes when he's in shadow. They're pink the rest of the time. As for what he WEARS...well, his armour is the aforementioned dark heather green, but in hard light holo mode, he tends to wear green and grey/black, usually something with plants printed on it. He likes plants.
3. weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon?
He's my little archer! Tripwire is scarily good with a bow, and uses a lightweight energy bow that was designed specifically for him as a '5th' (equivalent) nameday gift from Hot Rod. Considering Hot Rod is also the one that taught him how to use said bow, and Tripwire absolutely hates the high-pitched sounds that blasters make (and as a tiny hovercraft ATV he is WAY too small for effective hand-to-hand against the much bigger bots), the bow was a very fitting gift for the just-out-of-toddlerdom Warborn. The handgrip/arrow shelf attaches to his arm, and when he needs to use it, he just pulls it off and clicks it on, and the upper and lower limbs 'grow' from the handgrip, along with the bowstring. The grip will also generate force arrows for him if he does not have access to real metal bolts, using his own electrical energy to create them. This isn't IDEAL, of course, since it drains him, but one does what one must. Damus upgraded the bow for him as he grew, so it would grow with him, and taught him how to aim for targets he could only feel, not see, as Damus' and Tripwire's energy abilities are similar enough that Damus could teach him how to manipulate his senses around electrical fields.
4. how crafty/resourceful are they?
He's a Warborn Cybertronian child, and like the very last generation before the War (Shockwave and Damus' generation) and *all* of the Warborn, he is an Outlier. By default, it means he's super resourceful, because society (and lack of it) was never going to help him survive. He was a toddler with Bee and Strongarm in the middle of a warzone. He knows what to do to survive by any means possible.
He is autistic, so his approach to being resourceful may not be what everyone expects, but generally, he gets the job done, and oftentimes better than how it would have been otherwise. He's very good with his hands, with making little things. Part of it comes from Damus being the adult he is most attached to, and since Damus and Shockwave are both Macgyver-pyros bad enough that they make Wheeljack and Brainstorm side-eye them when they're together...he's picked up quite a few things. He does enjoy making things, though he's found that he prefers making analog things, and in recent times, since discovering Earth and Cybertron's slow rejuvenation, he's found he likes working with wood. There's a lot you can make with wood that is easier for their limited society to deal with, since they don't currently have the infrastructure for a lot of heavy-duty metal construction (y'know, a planet basically dying and then being revived with pretty much nothing but dirt and ruins on its surface will DO THAT to a society), and he's secretly working on figuring out how to build looms, so they can maaaybe start figuring out textile production again, at least on a small, at-home scale.
