sometimes I hate just how deep it is for me? that identifying as a bird and an alien from a famous sci-fi show are the most integral parts of my identity and no one in my tangible life really gets it and I have to downplay it for people to accept it. I wish this was something I could be more open about, I wish I could be acknowledged as this by the wider world. it makes me feel so silly how serious this is for me, when other people are just fine being human and non-fictional, when people like me are dismissed as frivolous and irrelevant

human performance

kossai do not really feel shift is right word for experiences - faeriehood and traits thereof natural state , while things like language and social adaptations ... well , just that : adaptations to get through world that hold particular standards in these areas . 

while sometimes have experiences that others would name shifts , as in change of mental state , for kossai these experiences more so ... that those filters come down for some reason - maybe on purpose , maybe just run out of energy to maintain - and revert into more natural faeriehood . in these states , kossai can then recover from pressures of filters , and feel better connection with inner core .

therefore , think make sense to talk about and name these experiences in inverse too : that this unnatural state is human performance , and what lie at core is faerie nature . could also use this to talk about specific concepts and troubles : faerie social nature , human language performance , etc . theoretically could apply in any way , but may find overlap with phrases that already exist like work performance - might be good or bad , as depend on needs of conversation .

this might resonate more with fellow physical nonhumans than folks without physical or holotheric experiences - and obviously regardless of experience , if shifts already work fine to explain , that is great and no need to change . but maybe someone else have similar problems as kossai , and shift feel like inaccurate way to talk - that if anything , these experiences would be " human shift " , but even then have to specifically maintain state and follow set of rules … well , maybe idea of human performance framework is more fit .

And ngl those posts that are like "we should have a hotline so I can get answers from an autistic about their special interest" make me kinda uncomfortable because like first of all many of us cannot answer such questions on demand or even at all, and secondly those who can are people, not some kind of tool or toy for you to use, or some weird modern variation on a freak show. Like being autistic does not mean you were born as some kind of endless information repository...oh it's the robot shit again isn't it

“To be wild is to be free” or anything associating the wilderness with freedom is a manmade concept when you stop and think about it.

Like, theriform animals don’t really have the same concept of freedom as our societies do (if at all). Freedom is commonly associated with independence or liberation from something besides yourself; in the case of our community, it’s associated with releasing oneself from humanity, any dependence on humans or human society, and/or the constructs therein. Theriform animals who’re wild or feral are viewed as animals who’re “born free”. Yet, that doesn’t make sense when you look at it from their point-of-view.

They are intelligent, make no mistake. That said, their perception of the world doesn’t factor the same concepts as ours. Typically, they don’t go about their existence with a concept of freedom— at least not akin to how our societies understand freedom. That’s simply their means of survival.

Some folks look to wild or feral theriform animals and think they understand themselves in the way, for example, Spirit understood himself in his titular film. But that’s a fictionalized perspective. It was depicted by human beings using a concept of freedom that they personally understand, not that of theriform mustangs.

I’m surprised not a lot of animal folk (especially therians) talk about this.
