Some of you know, but in case you don’t, warning: the Sharon hate blog is back. Just block it and move on. Don’t engage, don’t debate, don’t try to make them reason because that’s not why they’re here for. That person lives off hate and making people feel bad for enjoying harmless, fictional things and by doing all the forementioned, you’re giving them exactly what they want. I know that many of us come to places like this to escape from our lives and just want to relish in the fandoms we’re part of, and that seeing a lot of hate might ruin that experience, but listen: don’t let them win.

So please turn off anon is you haven’t, block that blog, don’t talk about them and don’t give them any power. They do not deserve any attention.

To my fellow Sharon fans: I love you guys. Keep doing you and filling the tag with your amazing content. Stay safe ♥

While I’m not happy with the direction Sharon’s arc is going (but not surprised since they gave Peggy irrelevant Carter most of her traits from the comics, leaving her with nothing), I’m tired of people saying that Sharon is destroying Peggy’s legacy, or that Peggy would be disappointed when

1) Sharon owes Peggy NOTHING. Sharon didn’t join SHIELD because of nepotism. She had to prove herself, had to live under her aunt’s shadow. Had to work harder so everyone knew she was there because she was good at doing her job and not just because of the last name she carries. Her achievements are hers and HERS ONLY.

2) Peggy allowed/was okay with operation Paperclip. The government, SHIELD, welcomed “ex” nazi scientists to their ranks.

3) Peggy had to know that black men were being experimented on, because it was Howard the one who was trying to replicate the serum. He was carrying serum in his car when the Winter Soldier killed him and Maria.

4) She was close friends with Howard Stark, a known abuser.

5) Ava/Ghost gained powers after a tragedy in which she lost her parents, and instead of helping her, SHIELD decided to weaponize her. We don’t know when this happened and we don’t know if Peggy was still in charge, but this speaks volumes about the kind of shit SHIELD was willing to do to remain at the top of the food chain. I mean, even Hank Pym knew this and that’s why he didn’t want them to have access to the pym particles and the Ant-Man suit.

“But there were people in higher positions, Peggy wasn’t in control, what could she have done?”

Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say, 'No, you move'.

Miss Peggy “No, you move” Carter deliberately decided to turn a blind eye to the atrocities SHIELD was doing for “the greater good”. She was okay with working with a shady af organization instead of quitting the moment she realized what they were doing. And she was glorified for doing that.

I’m not trying to excuse Sharon’s actions but at least she isn’t willing to turn a blind eye and let the government get away with atrocious things.

The government that experimented on black men. The government that put Isaiah Bradley in jail for 30 years. The government that dehumanizes and weaponizes enhanced individuals.

The tfatsw final left me with a bitter taste for one reason: Sharon Carter. How are you going to tell me that the woman who was a dedicated SHIELD agent, who risked her life for the Avengers time and again, who was loyal and compassionate and GOOD, has suddenly turned into a money-hungry mercenary?? Like I understand that being on the run takes a toll, but this? And it is so incredibly disrespectful not only to Sharon but to the legacy of Peggy Carter. There is no way anyone raised or influenced by Peggy would ever make the choices and go down the path that Marvel has forced Sharon down! Peggy was an outcast and an outlaw from her own agency time and time again, but she always kept fighting for the truth! Marvel’s insistence on having some “ooo plot twist they’re evil” moment comes at the expense of very clear and obvious character traits. They insisted upon destroying Peggy Carter and her legacy completely, and keep proving that they don’t know their own characters.

Friends, Enemies, and Frenemies

Mackie and Stan won’t be the only familiar faces appearing in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. As Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced at D23 Expo 2019, Emily VanCamp will reprise her role as Sharon Carter, the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent from Captain America: Civil War. “I loved doing these movies and I felt like there was a lot of unfinished business with Sharon,” VanCamp says. “We have no idea where she’s been. So, I’m excited to see where that is, how it’s changed her, how it’s affected her - what she’s up to, you know? I love playing Sharon so I’m excited to just delve a little bit deeper into the role.” Skogland promises the series will explore more of the character’s journey, but stops short of saying how Sharon fits into the larger story - to prevent spoiling the fun, of course. “She becomes someone we are really surprised by,” the director teases, “and I think everyone is going to really enjoy seeing her.”
