So, I’ve been thinking about the write a rec list square on my Murderbot comment bingo. I could’ve done one of everything I’ve commented on for the event, but I haven’t been properly tracking it. So I figured I’d pluck recs from my bookmarks. I have 110 for this fandom. This is the "Murderbot Diaries 2.0" fan discord server's fourth annual Comment Bingo event. Everyone is welcome to participate! This event fosters community engagement and connection by sparking Murderbot fans to share their appreciation with our amazing creators!

Players grab a random bingo card which will prompt them to check out fanworks across a breadth of mediums, styles, and tropes, leaving behind comments as they go. From August 18th to September 18th, see how many of the squares you can fill out! Can you get bingo?

How to Play

🎲 Selecting Your Bingo Sheet 🎲

There are 2 categories to pick from: General and Angst.

If you want a bingo sheet with general prompts, roll a random number between 1-36 and select that numbered bingo sheet from this google drive folder.

📝 Filling Out Your Bingo Sheet 📝

Each box on the bingo sheet is a prompt for either a type of work you should leave a comment on (i.e. "fic with <1000 words"), or a type of comment ("ask a question"). When you've completed the prompt, cross out the box.

One comment fulfills one box. So if you leave a comment asking a question on a “<1000 words” fic, this comment can count for either “ask a question” OR “<1000 words”, but not both.

A “comment” to fulfill a bingo box can be: A comment on AO3, a reblog or reply on tumblr, a comment on a YouTube video, etc.

Comment Bingo is a game where you fill out a "bingo sheet." Each square on the sheet contains prompts for tropes, fanworks mediums, and more. To "fulfill" a square, leave a comment on a fanwork of your choice. The goal is to get a "bingo" (5 squares in a row) by the end of the event on September 18th.

Basically: 1. We give you a bingo sheet. 2. You enjoy fanworks and leave comments. 3. Yay. 🎉

Maintenance Manual for SecUnits models 36b-27f by Wordlet When Mensah receives the maintenance manual for the person she just bought she discards it on instinct. It's not until later, while trying to navigate the needs of a person she has limited context for, that the supplementary reading becomes useful. It's not instructions the way they are supposed to be but it does provide… guidance.

Character Death: "Broken Half" by FigOwl. Beautiful and just. Sad. About Murderbot surviving and trying to make sense of itself after ART dies on a mission and Murderbot is stranded on a planet and has to look after the survivors. Novel-length. I'm moving through it slowly.

Crossover: "The Sherlock Society and the Case of the Lying Parents" by BWizard. Cute, surprisingly melancholy, presents some interesting time-travel emotions. Crossover with the middle-grade mystery novel "The Sherlock Society."

Comic: Murderbot September day 3: (Alternative prompt) “I don’t like you.” / “I know.” by @fascinatedfinch. What an excellent portrayal of this scene and Murderbot's processing during it!

Blood(c): "acknowledged (GP-53214680-J)" by torpidgilliver. Hit at the HEART. Aaaah. Ganaka Pit from the perspective of the ComfortUnits. Brilliant. Tragic.

Free Space: "Lean" by BoldlyNo. Indah... I love... her... and this is a great insight into her.

Kidnapping: "Weakness" by Flammenkobold. Fun and silly.

Malware: "[Podfic] Weakness" by blackglass, LRRH_Collabs (LittleRedRobinHood), elrohir, horchatapods. The podfic of the above. The reading enhances it in a delightful way.

Missing Limb(s): "Secondary Redundancies" by pineapplesquid. A heist novella! Three gets to go on a mission! Murderbot has to confront its own internalized ableism and SecUnitphobia! Well-constructed, well-written, engaging, often feels like I'm reading another entry into the series itself.

Respond to Someone's Comment: "Contents Under Pressure" by platyceriums. Murderbot has a panic attack about being put in a transport box. Full of feelings. The podfic of this is also very good.

Posted/Updated Pre-2022: "Contingency Plan" by Kiraly. Amena on a field trip to the space!Svalbard Seed Bank! Cuddling for warmth but platonic and very awkward about it!

Questionable Augmentation: "My battery is low and it's getting dark" by potatoturnipbean. YO. Brilliant, elegant brutality, great voice.

Betrayal: "PUoMNT Lost" by IHopedTheredBeStars. Really neat concept I've been itching to see explored - ART is, still, actually, university property. It's a vehicle. It's a piece of equipment. Its freedom is contingent on the university letting it do what it wants and not asking too many questions. That can't be trusted to hold like this forever.
