“The change that a child goes through when transitioning from a home environment to a school environment is drastic. Going from a place where one is secure, in the comfort and protection of their caregivers, to being thrown into an unfamiliar social situation where their sense of security is shattered. In a sense, when the child first makes the transition they can experience a form of culture shock. They are stripped of their security and forced to rely on strangers, their instructor, for guidance.

Unfortunately, not all are prepared to make that transition, and another unfortunate thing is that there is no system in place that can help the child which struggles with it. Society and our school systems don’t seem to understand or maybe they’re not even aware of the detriment it could possibly pose to the young student which was not given the proper skills to succeed, to them, it is just something that everyone does.

That explains the general mentality of our school system; just do. We hardly hear anything but the gospel of “if you do well in school, get into a good college, get a good job that pays well.” Don’t think, don’t struggle, just do your work. Many folks have voiced their opinions over the low quality of our educational system, but their concerns are misguided.

It is not about what they teach in school, it is a school after all, it’s not meant to limit the type or amount of information being taught to students. Academia at its core should be an unbiased educational place, touching on subjects others may find uncomfortable, and exposing students to the truth of the world so they can draw their own opinions.

The main concern is how well the school in question can address the psychological barriers which keep some students from learning, how well they can help them grow into their own. Teachers serving as a guide to the students academic salvation. More often than not, teachers themselves, instead of focusing on shaping young minds, they resort to authoritarian methods of controlling the classroom. They don’t teach very well, they don’t help their students, but that homework has to be in on time. No excuses.”
