so i hear it’s graceleewhitney​‘s birthday or something and i just happened to have this sketch i did shortly after Ms. Whitney passed away earlier this year. i love how much ppl in this fandom are dedicated to ALL the characters. oh man, reading a book about an incredibly transmissible and highly mutational virus with overworked+understaffed medical personnel and lots of illness-related-deaths and general societal strain in the year of Kahless 2025 was… certainly A Choice TM

at the same time though. the dichotomy of 1) the inherently higher stress of the book’s plot due to its’ unfortunate continuing relevancy to real life, vs. 2) the wish-fulfillment of people actually working together and taking the vaccine and working to eradicate the virus through every means and unlikely alliances being formed and also the very definitive, guaranteed cure for the virus being found before the book ends and a promise that it’ll all be okay…

every time i write spirk fic i am unproportionally grateful that my dad taught me how to play chess in the 4th grade. yes i will be peppering in canonically correct chess moves and chess symbolism, any god who dares stop me will be struck down by the exestential force of a well executed castle.
