Lore piece I somehow haven’t shared here yet: Tachanka was friends with fellow soldier Nikolai Butusov, who became so married to his work he abandoned his wife and two sons. (Nikolai, Lara, Aleksandr, and Volodya are all OCs.) Tachanka even had some knowledge of what Nikolai was doing to his family - only hearing the story from Nikolai’s side, of course - and takes his side. 

So when Aleksandr and Volodya later meet Tachanka and find out this piece of his story, they’re gonna fucking hate him for it. And those two normally do not hate. 

(Note that I’ve since changed Aleksandr’s and Volodya’s surname to Nemchinov; thus, Lara’s surname is Nemchinova. She still didn’t take Nikolai’s surname upon marrying him - as though she knew something awful would happen between them.)

66th post!!!

so apparently my earlier r6s post gained a tiny bit of traction so. wheeeeee time to ramble abt my r6s canonverse :3

one of the operators (who i will not name here) is Two-Face Personified. he behaves like how he does in canon/people's cute hcs around his friends/family/loved ones, but around people he dislikes he's a complete jackass. i've compiled entire google docs about this; yes it is/was a coping mechanism. this has to do with an ex-friend - i'll admit our falling out was all my fault; i've learned from it since and now i'm extremely careful about making sure my current friends are comfy. i'm content with never interacting with this ex-friend again.

anyways. said operator i will not name especially gives my first oc, salomea, the heebie jeebies cuz they could. not be more different. and he's chewed her out at least once. (salomea is hopelessly introverted and vvvv regrets joining rainbow, since she didn't know what else to do with herself.)

and it turns out rainbow is actually??? shadier in this 'verse than in canon??? i haven't developed this lore v much yet but they've somehow become more corrupt and pro-excusing-gov't-atrocities since its formation. i think it'll be kinda like the fbi - meant to be counterterrorist, but. uh. behaves scarily similar to the kind of people it means to eliminate??? please don't ask me about this part yet lol. it's a wip and i should probably do more research to inspire it.

hence, there's no clear-cut 'good side' or 'bad side' when the nighthaven conflict escalates. nighthaven is vvv questionable, yes, but it's not like (my version of) rainbow is completely spotless either. really, who you side with can depend on any factor you want.

my second oc, beatrice, is torn on who to side with bcuz she's written past exposés on mercenary groups (such as nighthaven) but uh. somehow she and kali spent a bit too much time together and. fell in love. <3 so beatrice can't help but sympathise with nighthaven for that reason, even though it disgusts the other part of her that's saying this relationship is rendering her past work a lost cause.

but that internal conflict is resolved when she uncovers A Bunch Of Rainbow's Aforementioned Corruption. at this point, desperate for a resolution and some solid ground to stand on, she completely jumps ship and sides against rainbow.

nighthaven's presence is tearing rainbow apart from the inside - sides are being taken. operators are leaving. (bcuz even soft girls deserve to have girlboss moments, what if beatrice convinced some of the ops to leave rainbow... kali will be so proud of her.) which will then be salomea's excuse to finally break free and leave rainbow herself, so she can heal away from everyone at her own pace.

(this 'verse is a crossover with at least 2 other things and i could talk more about that but i can save it for another post either here or on my main lolz)

Let me tell y’all how thrilled I was to hear about how Kali convinced a number of operators to leave Rainbow. I’ve got A Number Of Thoughts And Ideas to expand on it for this project.

one of my fav things about my r6s fics is that my ocs are ultimately unafraid to commit acts of dissidence. they exchange adherrence to rainbow and its policies/goals for self-discovery, growth, and found family. and mayhaps love. 🥰

anna’s favorite costumes are the ones that stand out from others. do not many dress up as this? go for it. is it especially colorful, sparkly, etc? Very Nice. does it have something extra to it, like fake ears or a tail? awesome. even more bonus points if a costume matches what her brothers are going as. she always encourages the other two, and will enthusiastically add onto the stories and schemes yuri comes up with 

ivan likes to be as scary and imposing as he can, without scaring himself when he looks at the costume. and he loves putting a lot of commitment into his costumes. catch him in nearly all black, and with a crazy mask or makeup. but when the mask is off, others around him still can’t help but find him cute anyway, much to his annoyance (but it’s not like every single one of these comments ticks him off, he actually loves affection from his family). in the siblings’ themes, sometimes ivan is the villain while other times he’s an evil-looking accomplice of the other two 

for yuri, the more oriented in fantasy or otherwise something abnormal for day-to-day life his costume is, the better. halloween would be his time to really get dressed up and become immersed in fantasy worlds and stories. for several years in a row he’d go as mythological creatures or other characters in folklore and legends. sometimes pokemon too. and, he’s often the one to try and get his siblings to all have a common theme across their costumes. oh they sure have done this

some Salomea hc’s because I miss her so so much 

she has this weird penchant for white onion, especially when it’s cooked. they’re among her favorite things to have in her meals. the ones that are pickled just,, aren’t the same for her, though. she also likes cooked red onions but Notices A Difference between those and white onions. no one knows how or why. 

her sense of taste is very strong in general, she can detect even slight differences between flavors 

what she knows about the human mind comes from books she’s read about it (psychology turned out to be surprisingly interesting for her) and psychological thriller books and movies she’s seen. she may not work well under pressure herself but she does love thrillers 

she doesn’t talk very much unless it’s to herself about something she’s learned or figured out, so she pronounces certain words in her own way 

haunted houses (and haunted places in general) aren’t very scary to her. she likes the overall ambiance they have, but if she gets startled or jumpscared by something, she will be Absolutely Terrified and quite possibly lose her marbles 

she likes wearing scarves around her neck, especially when it’s cold. sometimes she lets the scarf dangle too. 

she has this habit of playing with fabric when she’s nervous, so if she can do that with her clothes or her scarf it’s Very Helpful. that’s the reason she wears long sleeves so often 

she likes going outside while it’s lightly snowing. it’s so relaxing to watch the snow fall, and she loves it when snowflakes fall in her hair. 

she listens to chill/ambient mixes while studying 

rock music is generally too loud for her, but she does listen to it every now and then, when she’s angry or frustrated 

she understands some Russian and she loves IC3PEAK 

bonus: 

she has a lot of self-confidence when working alone, but cannot function when working with a team and knows this very well. so whatever self-esteem she has on her disappears when she has to work in a team. she has No Confidence that she would have any capabilities in that area. 

in fact, she has No Idea why Harry would invite her, someone who has such a strong preference to work alone, into a whole team of 40-plus others she would have to work with. to this day she’s convinced Harry was drunk or at least under some influence when he called her with the invite into Rainbow, because no one who’s done their research on her would invite her into something like that and expect her to flourish.

Anna has a complicated relationship with the Spetsnaz. she gets along well with Glaz (due to their shared interest in art), is on neutral terms with Kapkan and Fuze, and distrusts Tachanka (which I can go more into if anyone wants!). she doesn’t necessarily hate him,,, it’s more like, she just doesn’t trust him and is wary of him. it’s Salomea who holds a more intense distrust and dislike towards him.

it’s just occurred to me that Salomea, my Rainbow Six Siege OC, could be really good friends with Valery Legasov… (yes I’m thinking about the HBO version, I always am…) they would start bonding over talking to each other about their respective areas of expertise in chemistry, and Valery may remind Salomea of the professor she lived with and who took care of her for ten years, in a fond way. the two would become companions in the sense that they can go to each other not just for science conversations, but later also conversations of more personal matters once they both open up (this particularly takes a while with Salomea).

my ocs and quizizz

yeah. I was listening to quizizz music on repeat and this happened. yes, I have played quizizz myself numerous times before. so. enjoy. 

no questions asked, Vanora Loves quizizz. she’ll just breeze through the questions and get an insane streak, always vibing on the top 5 while Bopping to the music. also catch her using all her powerups for The Drama. or if she doesn’t know the answer to a question (rarely) she’ll be like “oh shit, use a powerup, this might help”. sometimes it does. oh and also also catch her almost externally Raging if she clicks the wrong answer. like. how the fuck did she get that wrong. she may be convinced this could cost her the whole round but is relieved if she stays ahead of the game anyway. 

Salomea has mixed feelings about quizizz and its mechanics, she doesn’t work well under time constraints so while she likes how quizizz allows you to go through the questions at your own pace, she Suffers with the time limits on the questions. even if she knows the answer, which she most likely does because she remembers information Very Well, she will panic as she watches the timer bar go down. so her favorite powerup is obviously freeze. she’s also Quite Unaware that the leaderboard exists, if she’s in the top 5 at the end of the game she’ll be like “oh? that was me??” and be pleasantly surprised :) 

at the beginning of a game, Anna swears she won’t be competitive but then. gets her game face on. more than anything she is Determined to do well on the questions, sometimes she rushes but other times she Carefully Looks At All The Answers to see if she’s got the right one. often depends on the question. as for powerups, her favorites are the ones that affect other people’s screens. there’s the one that boosts everyone’s points (she’s one of the few who actually likes that powerup) and the one that glitches everyone’s screens. she uses those two All The Time. and. if she has extra time, she looks at other people’s screens and gives them answers to the question they’re on. if it’s someone she likes she’ll give them the right answer, if she knows it, while if it’s someone she doesn’t like she’ll give them a wrong answer. that definitely comes from how she’s taken after her father.

I have never explained the ongoing drama between like 5 of the characters in my R6S fic verse. and I want to. but I cannot. or maybe I can and it’ll cause shit to hit the fan again.

some more lore about Anna because I can,,,, this one hits deep in case you like it that way 

when Anna makes friends, especially those in Rainbow (e.g. Salomea and Lera/Finka), she Craves their attention and affection. much of her childhood was spent without parental or otherwise guardian figures (like,, older siblings) who actually loved her and cared for her, so having those figures around her now means the world to her. when Anna is feeling particularly down and needs that extra care, she becomes Very Clingy and may even refuse to walk away from a given friend. depending on who it is they may have to ask her to leave, which when it gets angry/aggressive enough will really hurt her feelings, and she won’t give in easily. for instance, when one of her friends has to go on a mission, Anna won’t understand how it’s so important since 1) she has little if any knowledge about modern military/police forces and counter-terrorism, and 2) given that said fields aren’t of her interest or knowledge she won’t see a reason to care so much. a lot of times when she’s with their friends they don’t worry about the military/police/counter-terrorism stuff, a lot of if not all her friendships with members of Rainbow are built on her giving them an escape from that. she’ll have to work on compromises with them in case things with their line of work get hectic, and for conflicts of priorities in general.

And now catch me coming up with tons of random headcanons about Salomea, Anna, Ivan, and Yuri! (You can find out more about how Salomea meets and gets to know the other three here.) I love these four already,,, so here are the headcanons about them I have so far! There will definitely be more to come! 

At the time she first meets the siblings, Salomea happens to live rather close to a small headquarters of an agency investigating the existence of multiple timelines and curious cases such as time travel. Once Anna, Ivan, and Yuri all trust Salomea enough, she takes them to the headquarters to see if they are indeed from several hundred years in the past (and from another timeline), and it turns out they are. The agency then takes the three siblings under their wing to tutor them in various subjects, since their education in their timeline was abruptly cut short. The agency also plays a part in helping the three adjust to this new world. At first the three siblings were scared of the agents who would be their new tutors, given how badly many of their previous tutors treated them. But the agents only meant well and were very kind to them, so the three did become comfortable around them. 

As you can probably tell, the siblings’ experiences with the boyars who neglected and offended them back in their world has made all of them wary of trusting new people, especially adults. Anna is particularly careful, as she is very protective of her brothers and wants to make sure that the next person they trust will treat them well. This is why Anna wanted to get to know Salomea well enough before letting her close to Ivan and Yuri. 

When winter comes and the ponds freeze, the four go outside to ice skate. Sometimes they’ll just talk while skating around, other times they’ll play games and race each other on the ice. Either way, they all have so much fun ice skating, it’s one of their favorite things to do together. 

When traveling or otherwise in someplace new, Salomea takes Anna, Ivan, and Yuri to museums, which they all find fascinating. They love how they can see and learn about so many things in one place, and it’s also interesting for them to see more of what has changed and been discovered between their time and the present day. But don’t keep them at a given museum for too long or they’ll grow tired and practically fall asleep. 

Should they return to Moscow, the siblings request to stay away from the Kremlin and other places they grew up in (in their time) until they figure things out and adjust better to the present day. They don’t want to be reminded so strongly of their previous world while they’re still getting used to this new world, which has proven to be far more pleasant to them so of course they don’t want to leave. 

Yuri isn’t particularly interested in reading or studying like the other three are. Salomea learned this the hard way once when she, Anna, and Ivan were all reading, and Yuri grew so bored he tried to get their attention in any way he could. He tugged at their sleeves, tapped on the table, snuck up behind them to hug them, even tried to snatch their books away. Salomea could tell that Yuri perhaps wanted to play, and told him that he could play by himself, but found out from Anna that Yuri was really in the mood to play with someone else and wouldn’t enjoy it otherwise. Since then, the others have found Yuri some games he can play on his own (such as various forms of solitaire) in case they all plan on studying. Though, if Yuri insists on playing with someone else, the others will take turns taking breaks to play with him. Otherwise, if only one or two (between Salomea, Anna, and Ivan) are in the mood to study, the other(s) will play with Yuri. It’s not like they mind because they all have fun playing with him and love him no matter what! 

There is so much love, support, and comfort in this household,,, it’s such a found family dynamic that I’m so soft for!
