I love the ~idea~ of mcd!garroth. But I HATE canon Garroth. I love the IDEA of a gentlemanly, shy, quiet sweetheart who loves too much for his own good, but I feel like around Laurance getting trapped in the Nether, he starts to undergo a? decaying?? Of his character? When he adamantly refuses to rescue Laurance from the Nether and holds Aphmau back from doing so. And then when we get to the Irene dimension betrayal, he’s turned into a total self-centered conceited disloyal stuck-up cold douchebag asshole incel. I’m trying to rewatch season 2 and it’s painful to get through any scene with Garroth in it because he’s just turned into the most arrogant, selfish, devoid of empathy, cold-as-balls misogynistic asshole I’ve ever seen, and from the snippets I’ve seen throughout season 2 and season 3 whenever I’ve skipped ahead, I don’t think he ever gets better and I’m DREADING experiencing that. It’s gotten to the point that whenever he comes on screen I boo his ass and talk shit for hours because he will just not stop pulling dick moves. And I’m certain I’ll have a BLAST (sarcasm) when I get to season 3 and he starts being racist too for literally no reason, as if that’s ever going to be enjoyable. Why is he racist? Why did they do this to my boy?? Why did they do you so dirty, Garroth?? What happened to my sweet, adorable, shy, loving, devoted gentleman?? Where did my golden retriever boy go?? Who is this ASSHOLE that replaced him?? Where has my beloved darling boy gone?!?!?! WHY IS HE A RACIST PIG NOW???

People need to stawp with the vague posting in this fandom because it just pisses me off. Either everyone knows who you’re talking about and you look like a cunt or it’s pretty clear you’re talking about a particular group/person but you’re too pussy to outright say it.

It’s different if you’re genuinely not aware of who exactly it is you’re posting about. But when you go ew why do people in this fandom do this thing that only one person does or I hate it when people in this fandom do this thing in this hyper specific way… we know what you’re doing and it’s not cute.

If you’re going to anon confess about something do it outright and openly. I know everything went a little fucked because of the Amaranth confession that had everyone a little haywire, but every confession afterwards is basically shitting on specific fics or people but won’t state who or what it is so everyone it could potentially apply to is left to just be paranoid that someone hates them for doing nothing and having fun on Beyoncé’s internet. At least the Amaranth confessor had the balls to state what fic they didn’t like, even if it was a little distasteful.

Honestly, all this drama of certain character opinions getting out of hand or with ppl fighting on if mystreet or mcd are better than the other AGAIN, it just brings back that big reminder flag in my head that the fandom is just like this sometimes, esp if you're verison of a fan fav character isnt to a perfect T to he/shes canon to fanon counterparts of either continuity of any of aphmaus rps

Genuine reason why I'm basically taking like a good 70% of the characters from both mystreet and mcd for MYSELF and running away so joyously to make my own story with them!

cause really the fandom bullshit is just too much for me and my anxiety so id rather take the loophole option fr fr

was there any actual evidence for Zenix and Vylad being children in canon? Like a characters dialogue stating that Vylad is a child? Where did we get that idea from because the wiki doesn’t say anything about it and like. they both look pretty adult to me,,, Zenix is literally a high-ranking member of the shadow knight military and was the leader of his own battalion, which he single-handedly killed. there’s no way they put a 12 year old in charge of an entire military battalion. also like, aphmau has different skins/avatars for children, they’re always much smaller/shorter, like in PDH where all the kids are shorter than the adult teachers despite being in the 13-16+ age range, its always been that way? So if Vylad was like 14, wouldn’t Jess not use an adult model for him in Diaries: Rebirth?? Where did we get the “Vylad is 14 in MCD season one” idea from. Like seriously genuinely speaking if anyone in the fandom has a screenshot of character dialogue confirming or talking about Vylad as if he is a child in the present, during season 1, 2, or 3, could you guys please hand it over because I am so lost and confused

The problem with starting discussion circles back to people having favorites because they will interact with the content that involves their favorites but ignore when people try to make content of other characters. I’ve looked at the ratios myself and even when people interact with discussions about less popular characters, there’s still significantly fewer reblogs and likes which leads to these discussions dying quick. Coming to the Laurance and Vylad stuff, people interact with Laurance content more than Vylad content because a) Laurance is more popular and b) Jesson did Vylad dirty and didn’t give him content in MCD or Mystreet. But Vylad fans still try to start discussions about him but it ends up turning into talking about Laurance.

Fan favorites will always exist and yeah, it sucks when you don’t see your favorite getting loved but that’s how it is sometimes no matter how interesting your favorite is :/

Characters who get more attention get it for a reason

Either hide the tag and move on OR start the discussions you want to hear

In my humble opinion, Vylad deserves more attention than Laurence because his character is just so much more interesting than Laurence. He doesn’t immediately tell you who he is and what his story is, he gradually reveals it- even then, we don’t get to know his full story, we know the implications. Laurence just explicitly tells you which kind of ruins any mystery he might’ve held. He also is just annoying but that would be Jesson’s fault for writing him like that (…the fandom doesn’t write him any better but that’s just what I think). Vylad also holds more importance to the narrative than Laurence ever will. He began the story, he haunts the narrative, he pushes the story forward. Jesson did him dirty and the fandom still does him dirty despite how much they claim to love him.

Summary: Vylad >>>> Laurence

When I first got into the fandom I loved laurence and vylad so much but after being here for a while I kinda hate the characters. Like can we not talk about anybody else? They're very interesting but Idk if they're interesting enough to warrant all this attention.

(This is mostly about laurence btw! Vlyad is way less talked about but it still feels disproportionate compared to other characters- idk this is just something thats been bothering me lately.)

The difference between Aphblr and Aphmau Reddit is so so funny 😭😭 Like here there’s so much character analysis/dissection, discourse, and, like, critique abt Jesson & their writing choices… and then you look at the Reddit and it’s just: “Who’s ur favorite character?”, “Look at this funny meme 😂”, “Why do people hate Ein so much .. 🥺😞”
