I’m not dead! Huzzah!
To keep myself going stir crazy without any creative outlet during my renovations, I’ve been madly sketching little scenes and character notes on printer paper at work and at home. So enjoy these first few.
The first is Jango and his Grunts - as it stands, I know the Mandalorians in canon were presented as mostly male and human. But I can dream!!! (Lol, guess which one’s Jango? Definitely not the only one I’ve given defined shape to… noooo…) Only Silas is present in this line up of Grunts, as Myles was called in to help run disaster management with Jaster, and is stuck being the more responsible party. The rest are all original, with even a non-combatant but highly competent new Mandalorian expat along for the ride. Even still, they aren’t exactly a harmless looking gathering, and definitely scared the living daylights out of the Eterrans they meet.
The second image is me having fun with characters in movement and how different they each respond to hostile situations. Jango is still young and brash in Down Comes the Rain, and so he faces things head on, but with incredible adaptability and resolve which will serve him well when he learns to look before he leaps. Silas isn’t too sure of his combat readiness, and so relies on quick attacks, jumping in and out of chaos, and keeping himself out of other people’s way by relying on range more primarily than he possibly should. Myles - the most well rounded and battle hardened of this trio of young Mando rookies - is more hands on and direct, but let likely to enter a fight in the first place.

Decently big life update:
The lights in my house turn on!!! And officially aren’t a fire hazard! And whilst I can’t lock the doors yet, my desk has been moved into one of the rooms.
So eventually, when the groundwork and restructuring of the pylons are done, I will have a solid, not-sliding-down-the-hill-to-the-pub house that I can live in, and hunt through all my boxes to find my old hardware and usbs. I was lucky to print some of it, so it’s not all gone, but it’s still a while to go before I can update my old projects.
For now, I’m just going to be slogging it away at work and trying not to let my lack of creative outlet get to me. I promise I haven’t abandoned any of my projects no matter how old. I’m just suffering the simple side effects of life.
I do suppose that means this account is on a temporary hiatus - consider it to be from 6 months to a year before I actually get to move out of my current place, so it could be a long hard road. And I am paying for the Reno on a retail wage in a small town, so you can imagine. Plus side is I work in hardware, so there is that.
#it’s been a very long time for most of my projects#ah my Star Wars planetary disaster fic how I long to finish you#soon#sooooooon

Mandalorians having a saying akin to “Lord works in mysterious ways,” but it’s “sometimes trials are given by Kad Ha’rangir, sometimes by Hod Ha’ran.”
Struggle vs. stagnation is a central concept in Mandalorian philosophy. Struggle is seen as necessary for growth. Canonically, Kad Ha’rangir, the god of change, growth, destruction and war, is also the creator of tests and trials. Hod Ha’ran however, is the trickster god and personification of the fickle nature of fortune. So when a mando’ad can’t figure out why the universe thought it necessary to assign this particular trial to them, they might blame Hod Ha’ran…
#sometimes it’s a task#sometimes it’s a torture#they would make a point between useless and fruitful struggles#very interesting thought process

Random headcanon:
Been reading law for two days and my brain is smoking. Anyway. I think there would be some significant ways in which mando law would differ from what I’ve been learning:
I think Mandalorian law would not be the same for Mandalorians and aruetiise, even if the aruetiise lived in Mandalorian space. For example, I think the cases of an outsider challenging the reigning Mand’alor might be cases of the Mand’alor deciding to honour that challenge rather than the outsider having a right to it.
The specific laws concerning aruetiise in Mandalorian space originally derive from the laws concerning conquered thralls populations in the Mandalorian Empire.
Children too young to swear the Resol’nare (and thus prove their knowledge of the law) have special protected status and are not subject to e.g. criminal punishments. Adult Mandalorian foundlings and adults unable to swear due to e.g. developmental conditions also fit into this category in most cases. If a child/ward commits a crime it would most likely be on the buir or vergebuir who failed in their duty to guard them.
Psychotic breaks on the other hand are categorised as injuries preventing one from fulfilling their lawful duties, not inability to understand and be bound by law.
Mandalorians are nomadic, so Mandalorian law is not explicitly confined to Mandalorian space, but binds Mandalorians wherever they go. This of course does create conflicts with Mandalorian enclaves and the governments of the worlds they inhabit.

Really only uploading this bc i don't think I'll ever finish it, but hey. Legend does himself a mischief. Thats it.
Mere panels before Legend tests Hyrule over the stone wall, for anyone who's read it. I very much enjoyed writing that bit. Don't mind Sky, he's just having a full asthma attack, its fine. It's being handled.
(and if Legend looks slightly worried, he says lies! Lies and slander! He's too experienced for feelings!!)

I’m not the best at it, but! Draw sketch things on line paper and when you got the general gist, move and shrink or enlarge things until it reads in a way that makes sense even without numbering. Often, it’s good to have opposing blocking lines in poses directly facing each other in panel to panel sections, or have repetitive panels to emphasise slow movement or responses where necessary. Make panels you think are important large, and ones that only exist to explain a movement similar to either the ones before or after. Take a good look at all the comics you like the look of and try to find the patterns in their framing choices.
Haven’t made any comics on this tumblr, but I’m have got some started on @lynelsscareme
Very good work so far, and I’m only starting out myself, so hopefully someone more experienced can jump on board too!
Rough thumbnails for the Mandalorian Luke comic! This might be the silliest most self indulgent thing I've ever drawn. Rest of the comic under the cut.

Saving to make sure I learn how to do this properly

212th Attack Battalion Insignia.
Thinking about making these into badges. I was designing them with patches (iron-on's) in mind, but I'm enjoying making them more than I thought I would.
I tried my best to use Cody's armour motif, and the circle around the neck and shoulders many of the 212th seem to have.

Mandalorians being lovers of ponchos and cloaks will never get old to me.

hukan (n.): cloak, cape, poncho
Roughly equivalent construction to English “coverall”, or “one which can cover all”. So any garment that achieves that effect.

I figured out how to make symbols with a background!!!
This is the theoretical symbol of Doom's Unit - an unspecified unit of Clone Troopers under the command of Commander Doom, and Generals Tiplee and Tiplar.
(I found old depictions of Doom, and thought to myself - I gotta make something for this guy's troopers. SO here it is. I'm sure the motif has been done before, but it's all in good fun, anyway.)

Completely forgot to post this.
Filled out a bingo request for the 13th Iron Battalion on a Clone Fandom Discord Server, and I am having the Best Time.
((Do you ever feel like you've just found your people? Like you can scream at them about all of your blorbos, and they'll even interact and encourage the stuff you write about even the characters they don't like??? Those are the best people.))

What if, hear me out, when Mace finds out who else ran for the position - even unknowingly and without their permission - he gives them all a specific job in managing his newly reforming Republic? Can’t be attacked by a burgeoning Mandalorian war force if your war minister is a Mandalorian.
Plus, Mace needs to keep Boba where he can see him. He knows that boy is planning his murder. It’s more fun to spoil his attempts by assigning paperwork to a teenager than initially expected. Helps that his other ministers are also somewhat “new” to politics.

Kesett Week 2024 Prompts
Kesett week will be February 27th-March 5th
Thank you everyone for voting. The prompts on the list were the top 7 picks. I am posting the prompts now to hopefully give everyone as much time as they need to work on their writing, art, or anything else they want to contribute. During the event I will reblog all the creations on this blog (tag them as #kesett or #kesett week 2024 and I'm sure I'll find them). I also plan to put the fics that are posted on AO3 in a collection so people can find them in one place (if you don’t want your fics in the collection that’s totally fine though it’s just something I’ve seen done for events)
Here are the prompts:
Day 1: Role Reversal/Outfit Swap
Day 2: “Why didn’t you turn me in?”
Day 3: Time Travel Fix It
Day 4: Chained Together
Day 5: “Wanna Bet?”
Day 6: Post RotJ
Day 7: Accidental Baby Acquisition
