I wish my cats knew that I bathe them because I'm allergic to them, not because I hate them
and also because their asshole reeks

The heart shape granny squares, a very late birthday present, and me.
May 08, 2025
When I started this project back in February, I had only been crocheting for about a month. I overestimated my abilities as new crocheter and said to myself, "I can do this blanket in a month! :D"
I was too optimistic. I was too overconfident. I was too delusional.
Now, two months after the project, I'm still sitting with only 7 granny squares inside my crochet bag. How many more do I need??? How big is a throw blanket supposed to be??? Will I ever be able to go to Michael's and buy more yarn just because I can???
I could've had more done, but some of these squares aren't even the same size. I had to frog and start a square like 4 times, and yes, it was the same square T-T.
The future is truly bleak. There's more projects for me to start, but I must be done with this one first.

I DID IT! I FINALLY DID IT!
Tumblr media
I found the best way put these three colors together without looking like I just wished for the best (which I did), and after sounding like a crazy person on the phone with my friend. I can happily say, I am very happy with the results.
(S = Sunny, C = Cream, W = White. S and W are from Loops and Threads, and C is from Caron One Pound)
Tumblr media
I needed a pattern where Sunny wouldn't over power Cream and White. As much as I wanted to create a checkered pattern, I couldn't figure out how to make it look symmetrical on both sides. Maybe someone else will figure it out, but not me.
As it's shown at the bottom, that's how many granny squares I have to make in order to complete the blanket. So far, I have 9 which means I need 54 more squares to go.

The reason I chose yellow yarns is because my friend loves the color yellow. I was originally going to use Flecks Yarn by Loops & Thread, but I had only three skeins for months! Even well after her birthday. A beautiful yarn in my opinion, very cute but not very available.
I did try to buy online, but at the time, the only option I had was bulk buying, and what the heck was I going to do with 18 skeins????
I just want to make a throw blanket, not upholster her couch.
I hope she likes the pattern and in the mean time, I'm going to see if I can use the Flecks Yarn for something else. I'll try to make her another blanket and this one will be a much slower project so I can find a good amount of skeins.
I will update more as time goes on.

Hey kid, look at me.
I want you to T-pose. Turn your right thumb up and your left thumb doen and look at your right thumb. Move your arms up and down a bit until you feel a nerve running from your armpit to your palm. Now turn your right thumb down and your left thumb up, and look at your left thumb. Keep your chest facing forward and your shoulders back. Move your arms again until you feel that nerve again. Keep alternating between these two for a minute, or look at each thumb thirty times each.
Now sit down. Put your left hand firmly under your left buttock, palm down. Keep your shoulders back and put your right hand over the crown of your head, very gently pulling it to the right. Do this for thirty seconds, then do it again but with your right hand under your right buttock.
These are stretches for the nerves in your arms, and are very good for people who sit behind a computer a lot, or fibre artists, or you name it. Do them daily. They will hurt in the beginning, but keep doing them, even after the pain has gone, or it will return and you'll have to start all over.
