went to a spa the other week and thought about absolutely nothing but this the whole time. gale was a team effort so thank you @ladymurgatroid for the phrase ‘retired old lady workout regimen’.

i know shadowheart can learn to swim in the course of the game but there is no way she’s good at it. she is forcibly removed from the floatie when karlach cannonballs too close to the sun, and spends the rest of the day on a lounger insisting that she isn’t sulking.

I had these hidden because I was hoping to do more with them, but I'm not sure I'll be able to work on them again. I figure I can at least post what I have instead of just tossing it.

I really wish more people who wrote about spawn Astarion post-game remembered the fact that he:

1) is a 12th level adventurer with a ton of enchanted armor, weapons, and magic items

2) helped save the world and personality fought against the advocate of Myrkul.

3) is an absolute beast in combat if you build him right and know how to play a steath-based character

4) would logically have a strength of at least 16, since he would regain all the standard vampire spawn abilities and attributes after the tadpole was removed.

Everyone complains about woobifying Astarion all the time, but I'm personally just tired of people reducing him to a damsel in distress who can't take 5 steps without Wyll, Gale, Halsin, or occasionally Karlach rushing in to save him. It's crazy how at the end of the game Astarion is leading an entire city's worth of vampire spawn in the underdark, one of the most dangerous places in the realms while also reinventing himself as a lone adventurer and hero, and people still act like he's a helpless little waif who's only skills are sex related. Like he's literally one of the few companions who didn't retire.

We're out here calling making ocs internalized misogyny we have hit the peak of chronically online mess wow 🙄

No one is saying making OCs as a whole is internalized misogyny. However, there’s a clear pattern of female/fem-presenting Tav/Durge OCs that look and act almost exactly like existing canon female characters, like Shadowheart, Karlach or Minthara, just with different names. And then those same canon female characters get sidelined as one note sidekicks or jealous/bitchy antagonists, or even killed off altogether in many fanworks. Meanwhile canon male characters get prominently featured and written with nuance in comparison, with while the OC being at the center of it all.

Sure you can write it off as people having creative fun but making creative decisions like that don’t exist in a vacuum. Like if someone writes a fics where all other women besides their OC are bad/ignored while all the men and the one female OC get to be complex beings, then there’s something to unpack there. It’s this specific trend of making OCs that’s being critiqued here, not just making OCs in general. Disagree all you want but at least have the decency to not twist this into a strawman argument
