Asdjfksl yes I think Yuusaku would look great in these! I'm also inclined to think that Ryoken would secretly agree... ^^

Also the idea of Yuusaku wearing a wedding dress amused me very much because Wedding Dress Ryoken is also a thing for me, so I was imagining their wedding just involving both of these boys decked out in gowns 😂✨

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

I love Ai. I just think he's brilliant, in terms of writing and character, and there's something about a tiny little guy with huge personality that appeals to me greatly.

As a device in the show, he's perfect. He's the sidekick-type character who follows the plot around and makes commentary both comedic and sensible, in contrast to the stoic main character, who's then allowed to maintain his ✨cool silences✨ without losing the audience. In my opinion he (along with Kusanagi) make Yuusaku's personality work. There was something great about watching the crazy shounen-typical stuff happening in VRAINS and having a little voice of reason balking at it all, making everything more dramatic and suspenseful by acknowledging how ridiculous and crazy everything was - sort of like how a straight man makes jokes land. This feels like a very specific point asjdfkjdf but it's really the one that stood out to me the most, making me appreciate the show's writing so much more every time it happened.

Character and personality-wise, he's so great. I love a sassy little guy who props up an easily punctured ego to cover the fact that he's actually bleedingly genuine. He's a super advanced sentient AI, but he can't help being silly and turning into a total goofus that tries to act cool. While that kind of makes him (lovably) pathetic, he takes serious things deeply seriously. Underneath all that silliness and puffery is a very genuine and serious guy who loves his friends enough to become a fugitive for five whole years, to risk his own safety multiple times over, to delete himself entirely for their sake, to the point that underestimating him is always a bad idea. He's like Yuusaku in that way - he doesn't look like it, but he cares so damn much about the people important to him, and he fought just as hard if not harder than Yuusaku to protect everyone. Silly characters who would go to the ends of the earth for their friends my beloved.

And finally, he's just so cute. How can you not look at this guy and immediately love him.

13. What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?

Feels basic but the purple heart 💜 is what I think I've been associating with him the most :D (because he's purple and he's 爱-)

I also thought about what emoji I think he'd use a lot, and the silly answer I came up with is the pleading face 🥺... he'd be texting this to everyone all the time asking for all sorts of favours and 2AM calls for help LOL

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

Yuusaku is the easy answer ahah, I love their friendship so much, they're such personality opposites yet they've come to rely on and trust and care for each other in ways I'm sure neither of them ever expected to. I think a lot about how they could watch terrible soap operas and work on coding projects together and learn how to live peaceful lives again💖

An alternative answer to this that I want to mention is Flame, as I do enjoy their interactions a lot too! They're both a bit sassy and dorky and proud and I imagine that as much as they drive each other up the wall, they'd enjoy each other's company a great deal. So if Yuusaku is busy, Ai could spend his time pestering hanging out with Flame ✨

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

I think it was a good one! I liked his fun energy immediately, and getting mostly eaten by a giant dragon within two minutes of appearing on-screen is always a good way to make an impression /j. When the nuances to his character weren't as obvious yet I think I found his self-aggrandisement somewhat annoying at times, but as time went on, I only grew to appreciate him more💖As for how I feel about him now, I think I've yapped about him enough in the first answer ^^;

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

I do enjoy Takeru's character! He's an entertaining guy to watch, and his emotive, expressive character made for a refreshing contrast to Yuusaku despite both being Lost Incident kids. His claim to fame in my heart will forever be his dynamic with Flame - I cannot overstate enough how much I love every interaction from the moment they first showed up all the way to Soulburner's final duel. They were peak partners to me, having achieved a level of trust and familiarity where they could dunk on each other constantly all whilst working perfectly in sync, and then switch to encouraging each other without skipping a beat 💖

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I hope this counts, but one of the headcanons I have about Takeru is that Flame helped design his Soulburner avatar. It started out as Takeru needing help with figuring out the controls, before Flame started offering his input. At first Takeru didn't want to make his avatar too flashy, wanting something low-key that didn't stand out too much, but Flame encouraged him to be more indulgent and Takeru took the advice, such as including the scarf ^^ (Flame made it retractable ✨)

Ahhh it's always so hard to pick favourites... I don't have a lot of images of Takeru/Soulburner on hand, but here's what's definitely one of my favourites!

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in? - Ryoken/Revolver

I had no ideas for this at first but I thought about it too much and got real invested. Help.

The answer itself feels a bit basic, but I think I'd pick Pokémon, specifically the games, casting him as either a member of the Elite Four or the leader of the evil team of the occasion. I've really enjoyed the sampling of Vrains/Pokemon crossover fanworks I've come across, and I think the Pokémon universe's existing range of eccentric personalities would easily accommodate Ryoken/Revolver's dramatic self. Plus, he gets to keep a party of dragons with him in another franchise that also values them a lot ✨

For E4 Ryoken, I imagine he'd be prestigious and reclusive enough to be a member, but not want to be central or important enough to be Champion (though he'd be capable of taking the seat if he wished 😌). For antagonistic team leader Ryoken, he'd be leading an organization of "Knights", and pull a Team Plasma/N where he believed he was acting for the greater good, but his awful dad was pulling strings.

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like? - Yusaku

In my attempts to write Yusaku, I'd say my favourite thing to do with him is make him as bleedingly honest and straightforward as I possibly can, preferably making people around him (cough-Ryoken-cough) discomfited by it. I enjoy that aspect of his canon character very much, and I find it fun to think about how he would respond in various situations with his signature no-nonsense deadpan.

Something I don't really like is writing about his trauma and PTSD because I am pretty bad at it I think ^^; I really like how all of that is part of his character and very much want to write it, but I think I struggle with tuning it to the right level and making it contribute to stories instead of derailing them.
