Laurent cannot find it in himself to forgive Kastor. 

He tells himself it doesn’t matter. It’s not his place to forgive Kastor. Aside from a few crude remarks the morning of his trial, Kastor has done nothing to wrong Laurent. It was Damen who he wronged, and Damen has, to all appearances, forgiven him. 

Laurent cannot. It makes little difference anyway, he tells himself. Kastor is dead. If Laurent’s feelings towards him have changed, it doesn’t matter to Kastor.

It matters to Damen.

So many anti friend groups are just straight up cults and it's genuinely terrifying to see and be part of.

If you're scared of your friends for whatever reason, it you're scared of liking being in a specific fandom or liking a specific ship because you think you'll lose all your friends over it, if your friend group is essentially built on the idea that you're all good and everyone else is bad, if your friends use social ostracization and online stalking and harassment campaigns as threats and weapons, if your friends use fear and moral panic to keep people in line. . . . .

Please get out of there. This isn't even about shipping or fandom or whatever, it's about staying safe and not getting sucked into a literal cult. Cut them off, block them on all your social media, remake accounts if you need to, and make new friends who don't leave you feeling like you're walking on eggshells around them. Just stay safe.

We would like to put on a Captive Prince Big Bang for 2021 - but first we need to determine if we will have enough participants, and exactly what kind of Bang will work best for our fandom at this time.

What is a fandom Big Bang exchange? In a Big Bang, fanfiction writers and fanwork artists come together in a collaborative exchange. In a classic Big Bang, the writer will choose a prompt or come up with an idea and create a completed fanfiction based on that premise. The artist will claim an outline that interests them and provide a completed piece of fanart based on the writer’s story. In a Reverse Bang, the prompting/claiming is swapped, and it’s the artist who picks the theme!

Thank you both!  Yes, it was “Out of the Bin and Into Your Heart” - the summary didn’t look familiar so I kept scrolling past it!  (oops)  Turns out I was wrong about the setting (it doesn’t actually say, I’m pretty sure, but on reread I think they’re in Australia or New Zealand).  I’m so glad I found it again, thank you everyone for helping!

Hi!   So I’ve sort of quietly been hanging around the edges of the Untamed/Mo dao zu shi fandom for a while now, and I’m trying to find a fic that I’ve read before but just is *not* coming up in the search results

It’s a modern au where Wei Ying and Lan Zhan are I think Chinese Americans (but it could take place in a different Western country) who have known each other since they were kids because their families are part of the same immigrant community and basically the whole fic takes place in and around a Chinese cultural center that they’re both members of.  I think maybe it starts out being fake dating that turns real, but definitely Wei Ying is looking forward to Lan Qiren (who runs the center) being irritated by the relationship except it turns out he’s spending so much energy pretending not to know that Lan Xichen is in a polyamorous triad with two other men that he doesn’t have enough left over to be anything but patiently resigned to the idea of Lan Zhan monogamously dating his most annoying male student.  I think the summary included a snippet of Wei Ying uploading a video of himself and Lan Zhan performing a duet on traditional instruments to the cultural center’s FaceBook page and enjoying picking out the most unobjectionable hashtags to go with it.  They both taught classes to younger kids at the Center, and there was a big concert/talent show type event at the end where Wei Ying was pushing boundaries by combining traditional and modern art forms and also drooling over Lan Zhan doing a more conventional qin performance in traditional dress?  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  I’ve searched every combination of keywords from the fic I can think of, and I’m wondering if it’s been taken down …

Yes, thank you!  I think that one was coming up in my searches, but for some reason I was *convinced* that the summary was a snippet of the scene where Wei Ying uploads a video Yanli took of him and Lan Zhan playing a romantic duet to the cultural center’s facebook page with hashtags about traditional instruments so Lan Qiren won’t delete it (why was i so convinced?) so I kept skimming past it because it didn’t look familiar.  Thank you!

Christmas party fake dating AU

Damen has only just broken up with Jokaste after he found out she cheated on him with Kastor, so he really isn’t looking forward to going to his family’s Christmas party on his own while Kastor is bringing Jokaste with him.

After complaining a lot about it to his friends, Auguste’s little brother Laurent offers to be his pretend-date.

With Laurent there, the party goes really well. Egeria immediately falls in love Laurent, while Theomedes starts off being very doubtful about him (which is partly to blame on how similar Laurent looks to Jokaste), but over the evening Laurent manages to win his respect.

Laurent’s wit helps to keep Damen distracted from Kastor and Jokaste and Damen is forced to admit to himself that Laurent’s looks are helpful too.

The lingering touches and the kiss to Damen’s cheek might have something to do with it as well.

When they’re upstairs in Damen’s bedroom, Laurent jokes that maybe they should have sex for the sake of verisimilitude.

They do have sex.

Afterwards, they go their own way for an entire year, although they do still end up seeing each other around, because Damen and Auguste are still friends. Those times when they do see each other, they pretend like nothing ever happened between them. (They think about it a lot, however.)

Damen never ends up telling his mom that he wasn’t actually dating Laurent, nor does he make up a story about how they broke up. When Egeria asks Damen how Laurent is doing, Damen always makes something up because he doesn’t want to disappoint her that he’s not actually dating Laurent at all.

When December comes around again, Egeria is still convinced that Damen and Laurent are dating, so she tells Damen to bring Laurent over for Christmas again. Damen (who is very much not planning on asking Laurent again) tells her that he’s not sure Laurent will be able to make it this year, but that Damen will ask him.

A few days later, Egeria very conveniently walks into Laurent (or maybe she finds his phone number somewhere and calls him) and decides to take matters into her own hands by directly inviting Laurent to the Christmas party herself. Laurent tries to dodge around it, because he has no idea whether Damen would even want him there, but Egeria is very insistent and he never really had a chance of saying no to her.

So Damen takes Laurent with him to his family again, and they pretend to be in love with each other again. (But really, they don’t have to pretend at all.)

When they’re ready for bed, Laurent asks Damen if he wants to have sex again. Damen knows it’s a bad idea, because until now, they’ve never even acknowledged to each other they had sex last year, but Damen also can’t possibly resist Laurent when he’s offering.

The next day, Damen drives Laurent back home again. However, he can’t bear the idea of spending another year pretending like nothing ever happened between them, so when Laurent is ready to close the door, Damen stops him and asks if he would like to go out with him.
