They aren’t talking.

You don’t understand the level of angst I can extrapolate from that simple “they aren’t talking”.

I can imagine Aziraphale forcing himself to put on the bravest face. Forcing his body to stop remembering the sensations awakened in him by the kiss and which he will never be able to experience again. Trying to hide from himself the fact that he wanted and still wants more. Trying not to think about the fact that he now knows what Crowley tastes like, but that he must suppress his own desire for him. And, at the same time, I can imagine Aziraphale as he forces his head and his heart to stop remembering six thousand years together, their shared history, the sense of trust and closeness increasing with each meeting. I can imagine him telling himself that it doesn't matter, but at the same time he can no longer find pleasure in eating, because nothing is appealing anymore.

I imagine Aziraphale thinking that forgiveness is no longer one of his favorite things and that it is not so easy to grant it to yourself.

And that he needs Crowley, he longs for him, but that he can no longer have him. He will no longer appear at any moment, ready to help.

I can imagine Crowley cursing himself over and over for trying to confess his feelings, for forcing Aziraphale to listen to something he clearly didn’t want to hear, and wishing he could take back every word. I can imagine that he considers himself an idiot for having misunderstood all the signals, for having thought that Aziraphale was pretending, like him, when perhaps Aziraphale had never pretended and simply didn’t want him. Not that way. And I can imagine him truly considering himself a fallen being, because despite everything he can’t regret that kiss, that last desperate attempt. I can imagine Crowley thinking of seeking solace in alcohol or in something else, but in the end he just feels numb, because he has to get used to a really lonely existence again.

I can imagine Crowley automatically reaching for a shoulder to lean on only to find nothing but emptiness next to him.

I can imagine him wanting to rush to Aziraphale's rescue, before reminding himself that he can't and shouldn't do it anymore.

And I can imagine them facing each other again, cold and formal, but both longing for what could have been and isn't.

One of my fav parts about Kaz is that he's such an arrogant piece of shit but he deserves to be. He's one of the best thieves in the world (I mean come on, he broke into the Ice Court, stole a DeKappel from a very secured area, pickpocketed the King of the Barrel without Pekka noticing etc.), is one of the most infamous and wanted criminals in Ketterdam (he was soo fucking proud of the price on his head been 100,000, more than everyone elses) he's one of the most feared barrel bosses, he's rich as fuck, he's got a diehard gang, and that's not to mention his insane reputation (of being a ruthless, cutthroat monster that some people think is an actual demon). Hell, he's friends with the literal King of Ravka who is consistently employing his help (in KoS duology Nikolai says that he learnt how to pick locks from a master thief in Ketterdam, aka Kaz, plus Kaz helps him steal titanium from Rentveer. And in CK they worked together at the auction ofc) All this at 17/18. He has a right to be a cocky piece of shit.
