Whats' New: ART OF SLEEPING

Lo spirito da groupie che è in voi, che pian piano si era nascosto lasciando spazio ad un visione più introspettiva e moderata della musica, potrebbe tornare in auge con gli Art Of Sleeping. 

Ci catapultiamo in Australia, a Brisbane, dove questo quintetto, decide di tornare in sella dopo due anni dal primo lavoro, l'EP "Like a Thief". Il suono cambia, lo stile si fa più intenso, sembra di ascoltare una versione fricchettona dei Black Keys.

In attesa del nuovo album, la cui uscita è prevista durante l'anno, ascoltiamoci e gustiamoci il video del primo nuovo singolo, Crazy.

Siamo all'interno di sonorità flebili, delicate ed eteree. Il progetto Forint nasce nel 2014 e balza subito all'orecchio un'enorme potenzialità. Un suono romantico che può fare da colonna sonora ai più disparati momenti della vita e una chitarra che vi farà letteralmente sbavare. Torneranno presto a farsi sentire, per ora accontentiamoci di questo, ed è un bell'accontentarsi.

Indira’s debut single “Stay” has been co-written and produced by Grammy-nominated producer Joel Little, the man behind Broods and the internationally acclaimed Lorde.

It’s a beautifully chilled synth-pop melody, with emphasis in all the right places, and as with the success of Little’s other projects I don’t think it will be long before this one also gets picked up on the international market.

Holly Lapsley Fletcher, 17, is an English electronic producer and singer whose newest song is nothing short of impressive. “Station” is a slow-building track featuring Lapsley’s vocals in her natural form and a pitched down one that forms a kind of duet. This special duo from London combines a guitar melody with subtle electronica and intimate, romantic lyrics that just make you drift away to nowhere and beyond. IDEAS FOR CHRISTMAS: Primavera to release limited-edition gift pack for Christmas

Primavera Festival in Barcelona are marking the holiday season by offering a bundle of exclusive gifts and presents ahead of next year’s fest.

This special limited-edition pack costs €165 and will include everything from a ticket to next summer’s event to mugs, stickers and books. Ten of the 1200 packs will also include a “Silver Penny card”, entitling winners to go to Primavera 2015 for free, and a “Golden Penny card”, which gets you “VIP access for two people over the course of 5 years to all the festivals, tours and concerts organised by Primavera Sound”.

Hollow guitar notes and glottal vocals at the start spark quick comparisons to Alt-J (the track sounds a lot like “Taro”), but there’s something different about Febueder. There’s more more groove and stomp to what we’ve heard so far of their music – more rock ‘n’ roll – even if neurotic coos and mathy guitars are found sweeping in and out.

It’s early to make big statements about the trio, but they’ve sure as hell got some fire in their bellies.

ALBUM OF THE DAY: Nils Frahm - Spaces

Today is Nils Frahm's day.

Nils Frahm is back with a new album, out today, ‘Spaces’, but it’s probably not what you’d expect from the Berlin-based composer. While previous releases saw Frahm playing solely on piano, his latest features a widened set of compositional tools, including synthesizers, tape echo, and a Rhodes keyboard. Frahm is clearly making room for electronic signals, having even been invited to bring his unique live show to Primavera, Decibel, and Boiler Room, the latter of which teamed with Red Bull Music Academy for a show at Mutek Festival. This one’s out on Erased Tapes.

Sydney duo Au.Ra first busted onto the scene with their debut track “Sun.” A string of singles over the past year have seen their smooth psychedelic riffs drift in and out of a luscious haze, with their mellow voices occasionally sparking the rich, nostalgic glow of Beach Fossils.

Their new song “Spare The Thought,” taken from their forthcoming 7”, turns things up a notch. The guitars bend into screechy, warped sirens, only to mellow out and push the airy vocals into more roaring bass lines and reverb soaked melodies. It’s a good track to zone out to, especially if you long for the days of eternal summer.

Au.Ra’s new 7” will be out November 18th via LebensStrasse Records.

Sivu’s two most recent releases ‘I Lost Myself‘ and ’Over & Over‘ were rather captive tracks to say the least. His new EP, I Lost Myself, is a short but sweet collection of songs in which the minimalistic production enhances Sivu’s rich vocal and lyrical performance. It is believably endearing, something that I immediately attach to when I find artists that can pull it off.

Noir pop at its finest, Swedish three-piece DNKL revealed their debut track "Hunt" last month and it now has a video to match.

Created by Jan David Günther and Bassi Lichtenberg, produced by Blackbloom and starring Nis Alps, the resulting footage is as dark and eerily beautiful as the song itself. Grainy black and white visuals depict haunting figures and abstract forrest scenes as they trace the mysterious underlying narrative of the lead male figure to its unsettling conclusion.

And “Hunt” itself, well it’s lost none of its potency in the past 3 weeks – its crackling electronic surface, surging bass and silky, half-whispered vocals remain an an utterly enticing prospect

Brooklyn-based artist Arthur Ashin, aka Autre Ne Veut has collaborated with electronic music composer Christian Fennesz on a new song. The two artists met at Fennesz’s Vienna studio for two days of freeform construction during their respectively busy tour schedules and came out the other side with the future ballad “Alive”. The song has been snipped from Mexican Summer’s forthcoming anniversary book Mexican Summer: Five Years, which is out December 9th, 2013. Take a listen!

Modular synth showroom opens in London, to host launch party this weekend

London’s first modular synth store, London Modular opened in Hackney, East London last week, now announcing details of a launch party for this coming weekend.

The store aims to celebrate an ethos of “No DJs, No Samplers and No Computers”, offering an extensive range of modular units, accessories and more.

Marking its launch, they’re also putting a special night on this Saturday (9 November) held at Crate Brewery in Hackney Wick, where live modular performances from “huge names” in the dance world will take place.

Performers have yet to be announced but the likes of Hessle Audio, R&S and Hemlock have all been rumoured.

Canada’s Prince Innocence have shared their first new track since the release of the ‘Lapse’ EP earlier this year.

'Dissipate' has Talvi Faustmann and Josh Mcintyre in suitably nostalgic mood, rinsing a synth line Chromatics would be proud of with glimmers of light, coming through via Faustmann's piercingly emotive vocal. The song discusses being in limbo “between what I want and need” - shiny retro-enhanced synth-pop rarely sounds this poignant. Check it out!
