So, today's project has taken longer than I originally anticipated.
For a little background, we lost my great grandma last summer. After the funeral, everyone got the chance to go through the house and claim some items. One of the things I grabbed, was her old sewing box. It was kind of dirty and the hinges holding the lid on were broken (it's an old plastic box, so that spot was a little brittle). Since receiving it, I have gotten it cleaned thoroughly, painted it, figured out a way to fix the hinge issue, and decorated it a bit.
Here are pics of what it looked like after just a good wash

Decent shape overall, and this doesn't show all of the stuff that was inside of it, which I did also keep. Below is the finished product

This is after all of my stuff and some of grandma's were put inside. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out, and I think grandma would have liked it too.

Every year I tell myself I want to get more writing done. Last year was probably the least I've ever even tried, mainly due to a bunch of life stuff happening and my brain getting a bad case of the scramblies because of it (i.e. I was an anxious mess or just exhausted for a good chunk of it).
This year, I plan on making a comeback. I even got myself a workbook to see if it can maybe help me get that groove going again. Wish me luck

#writing#writers on tumblr#writing goals#novel planner#writing workbook#god I hope this works#i haven't written in a while and I homestly feel really crappy about it

Suffering is being the only one that kept using it
Reblog this if you had to learn cursive writing as a child
If you were ever told or were made to learn cursive writing when you were in grade school. I wanna see how many of you suffered like I did.

Made another project tonight. Just a quick one, needed a new pin cushion so I made one with an old teacup that used to have a candle in it. Pretty happy with it, and it's just hot glued in, so I can restuff it and replace the fabric down the road

Finished the last piece of a set of embroidery kits I got a while back. Pretty happy with how they all came out, though I have to admit that the fourth image is my favorite. Might make something out of these at some point, but done with them for now

As someone in the process of reading this series for the first time (and absolutely loving it) this interpretation feels pretty spot on so far.
I'm re-reading the Discworld series for reasons, and honestly the most relatable part of reading these as an adult is how many of the protagonists start out being tired, used to their little routine and vaguely disgruntled by the interruption of the Plot. Sam Vimes wants to lie drunk in a gutter and absolutely doesn't want to be arresting dragons. Rincewind is yanked into every situation he's ever encountered, though he'd much rather be lying in a gutter too. (Minus the alcohol. Plus regretting everything he's ever done said witnessed or even heard about fourth-hand in his whole life.) Granny Weatherwax is deeply suspicious of foreign parts and that includes the next town over; Nanny has leaned into the armor of "nothing ever happens to jolly grannies who terrorize their daughters-in-law and make Saucy Jokes"
Only the young people don't seem to have picked up on this---and that's fortunate, because someone has to run around making things happen, if only so Vimes and Granny and Rincewind have a reason to get up (complaining bitterly the whole time) and put it all to rights. Without Carrot, Margrat, Eric, etc. these characters don't have that reason; they're likely to stay in the metaphorical gutter and keep wondering where it all went wrong or why anything has to change.
............well, that's not quite true. You get the sense that Vetinari knows how much certain people hate the Plot. And as the person sitting behind the metaphorical lighting board of Ankh-Morpork, he takes no small pleasure in forcing the Plot-haters specifically to stand up, and say some lines.
#reading#books#sir terry pratchett#discworld#I've only read the first ten books so far#my local libraries collection has a lot of gaps and I have to wait between books#also I have a lot of other books on my tbr and don't read at the pace I did before college

Been working on this patch since last fall, finally finished it about two days ago. Just need to attach it to the backpack, which I have already started the process of doing. Pretty happy with how this one has turned out, though I think I've had my fill of french knots for a while. This piece is freehanded on a piece of demin from some old jeans that wore out in places.

Made jelly for the first time this week. It's dandelion jelly too, and I have to say, I'm thrilled with the results. It tasts like a lemon infused honey, and it really wasn't hard to do.
Here is the link to the video I followed for anyone interested in trying it for themselves:

So, a little off of my usual material, but for anyone that sells things online or in booths in your local area, what kind of things do you notice sell well? I've been job hunting for a little over seven months now, and I haven't really had much luck past a handful of interviews I've gotten turned down for. I really enjoy crafting, as many of you can probably see from some of my more recent posts, but I'm not really sure what I would sell should it come to it. Just wanting some opinions and ideas for now, I actually had a friend tell me I should do wreaths after that heart-shaped one that I did a couple months back, but I'd like some outside opinions too.

Not a recent project, but one I remember being pretty proud of finishing. This table runner was one of those preprinted pattern ones that my grandma found upstairs when we were helping her and my grandpa move houses. I know the ends don't match, but I ran out of the right colors and just rolled with it. Still love it 🧡

Being a good person is a choice. Don’t let people fool you into believing that truly good people never have bad thoughts, are never tempted by the easier path, by the low road, never mess up or act out selfishly. Never believe a person can be good without making a conscious effort.
Every single time you do something good, you’ve made a decision to make the world a little brighter.
Goodness is not an inherent trait, it is a choice. Keep making it! I see you, I’m proud of you, and I’m rooting for you!
