“In Sydney, we had quite a ‘famous party’,” says Sounds drummer, Tony Newman. During the party, Derek Taylor had discovered a man who had brought along a miniature Minox camera that was hidden behind his tie, “James Bond style”. He was surreptitiously taking potentially incriminating photos of The Beatles enjoying their drinks and female companions. “Derek came to me to ask for help in trying to pull the film out of the Minox,” says Newman. “So we fiddled with it for a while and finally got the film out.” The man was unceremoniously ejected from the party. “Derek had a funny way of announcing things. He went and popped a balloon which got everyone’s attention,” recalls Newman. “Then he announced, ‘We have a spy among us’ (laughing)”

Summary:

1969: John and Paul and the moon landing.

Why I like this fic:

Because it connects the mundane miracle of the moon landing to John and Paul with a million little threads without destroying the magic that is them, and their love. It's a short fic about a stolen moment between the two of them during what wasn't their best time together, but when I finished reading it, my heart was filled with hope for them. I was so happy to discover this story I hadn't read before, by one of my favorite writers.

Why I like this fic:

Body swap? No way, you think. But hold on right there! This fic is in no way cheesy, it’s not simply pretending to be someone else. It takes you through what it feels like to be another person. Working through the initial fear, craving foods that disgust you, how this body processes anxiety, getting to sing with a new voice, or play an instrument the opposite dominant hand.

This fic shows you how it feels to be in the body of the person you’re in love with. Feeling how their body reacts to you. An absolute delicious work of art, and somehow the hottest T-rated fic I have ever read. I promise you, this is unlike any Beatles body swap fic out there and you will not regret reading it. You may reflect not reading it sooner, though

Why I like this fic:

Because of the dark, eerie atmosphere that captures the early Beatles magic perfectly (when they were Liverpool's beloved secret...), because of the way Ringo's POV is written, and because of the ending. I'd say it's Lynchian, but it's also its own, undefinable, lovely thing. The friendship between George and Ringo feels so real, too. Read it to make sense of this rambling rec. You will not regret it!
