Please go watch Sex Explained on Netflix. Not only is it a great resource for the basic sex education that is sorely lacking in the U.S., but some of ya’ll need to take a deep breath and remember the difference between fantasy vs reality. This purity culture thing that we’re going through right now is directly harmful to responsible, healthy sexual expression. BTW this woman, Lisa Diamond, is a noted psychologist and has been pushing for greater understanding of womens sexuality as a whole.

Some.. not malicious but definitely ignorant transphobia under the cut (venting about my mom)
Was over at parents house for dinner and my mom tried to do a gotcha in regards to transness.. she pulls out this newspaper article about a local trans woman who sadly passed away, but the article had a nice little bio about her life and legacy. And my mom. is like "well whaddya know, this lady decided she was trans, and she stayed a woman!"
And my dad and I are both inwardly heaving this huge sigh. and I have to explain to her that a trans woman isn't just... someone who was born a woman then realized they were... still a woman??? Like that's just a woman???? A regular ol woman????
And my mom's like "no, no, I know she was born a woman because..." and she starts like.. reciting the article, just reading it aloud to me, as if I somehow read it wrong🤦‍♂️ and finally at this point, my dad chimes in and helps me convince her.
But even then!!! She's still not done with her point!!! And her point is that I don't have to be 'fitting myself into a box' (male) and I can be whatever I want to be!!! And I'm like yup!!!! I sure can!!!! It's pretty great!!!!! And I leave without getting mad (im sure i sounded a little prickly but like.. come the fuck on) or arguing but I am. so fucking tired
I'm fine, it's fine, just trying to educate someone who's being brickheaded and also is getting kinda forgetful in her old age.. just is uh... frustrating.

Had this idea in my head for ages and found the time to get it out. Really wanted to focus on getting a traditional/classical look to the figure and juxtapose that with scary dystopian sci-fi elements. Think it came out alright?

a raven father (i call him "pants") I've been feeding sometimes likes to sit outside my window and either wait for more food or just listen to the stuff I'm watching while I draw. Today's a colder day so he likes to fluff up a bit, and I kid you not :

I have thoughts about the whole feminist anti-interrupting thing. Like I agree, men do talk over people and it is disrespectful, but I also think there are cultures, specifically Jews, where talking over each other is actually a sign of being engaged in the conversation. It’s something I really struggle with in the south, because up in New York, even non-Jews participated in this cooperative conversation style, but down here, whenever I do it by accident, the whole convo stops and it gets called out and it’s a whole thing. Idk idk I feel like there’s different types of interruptive like there’s constructive interrupting where you add on to whatever is being said - helpful interrupting, and then there’s like interrupting where you just start saying something unrelated because you were done listening. I have ADHD so I’ve def done the latter too by accident, but I’m talking about being more accepting of the former.
