reaper visiting a lot because, well, he’s dying a lot, he’s probably gotta. imagine a scenario where they actually get to talk. but its so so brief, dust is never dead very long, and reaper probably shouldn’t interfere otherwise…

(he’d also, be witnessing the deaths of the aus other residence, which. interesting. wonder what they have to say about things. and what reapers response may be.)

(of course this is assuming they interact after death, which i think makes sense with common depictions of the reaper at least)

dust probably chalks him up to a vision he’s having, or hallucination, when he dies, but maybe when he’s given more time, they can have broken up conversations.

like, dust and geno have VERY similar motivations and go to similar lengths (think of error even)

i think of reaper could come to respect genos desires and motives, he’d feel the same towards dust. reaper always strikes me as a really lonely person, and dust is too for obvious reasons.

i’m imagining a scenario where reaper is just. real bored of just watching. so he starts like following dust around so he can see him. and dusts like ah. cool. fucking phantom ass to add to the list. i’m imagining reaper telling him like no, i’m very real dude, and dust is like haha ok, lemme touch you then

The negatives/media-critical:

“Short version, we need to go to Santa Monica.” Okok im pretty sure that’s almost exactly what he says in the books, but it felt poorly set up in the show. Part of the pacing issues perhaps, but grahh it pulled me out of the story.

Where’s Percy’s backpack? Doesn’t he have one before Ares gives him one? Honest question bc I don’t remember for sure lol. Not assuming it’d stay with him thru the arch-falling shenanigans but like,,, what abt everyone else’s stuff? They aren’t walking around with NO water n stuff, right?????

Where is Annabeth’s necklace half the time? They keep forgetting it T-T. Sometimes it seems plausible that it’s under her shirt, but most of the time it’s very clearly not. + when they showed her dads ring on it last ep, that thing was Chunky-the outline of the ring would be showing under any shirt collar!!

The conversation behind the concrete highway thing felt kinda stilted. 1) when annabeth mentioned only one of the Fate’s names and 2) partially bc there was no background music the whole time…. Whenever the background instrumentals come in the quality of the show jumps so much!!!

Some of the Ares expressions/first convo/delivery felt hellla cheesy at points. In general when the gods characters say stuff like “young one” at the end of their sentences it feels kinda like a throwaway. Like the actors are embarrassed abt the line or smth… idk. Just doesn’t feel in-character enough the way those lines are delivered.

Ares says he’ll help them, then says they’re going to fail, then says he’d kill them so he can eat in peace when he offered them food in the first place…. makes them help him, then helps them anyways… idk the motivation portrayal in the show felt way more wishy washy and weak than in the books

The trap was really cool but it didnt read well until Annabeth went thru.

Different food on the table with Ares when they cut back to him and Grover at night. Super understandable that they could go thru multiple meals, but there’s no visuals of either character eating or calling the waitress over to get more food or like ANY storytelling cue to have the changing food make sense/have a reason to change. It just becomes another thing that kinda takes me out of the story.

Why is the Tunnel of Love where the shield “must” be?? There’s no indication that Percy and Annabeth have a demigod intuition towards the place, or that they’ve looked elsewhere. It’s stated like a fact that the audience is just supposed to accept and go along with. Where’s the reasoning???

Didn’t love the sound design when “What is Love” came in. Is it supposed to be playing in a tunnel loudly or not? The song kept getting louder and softer at diff points in a way that really took me out of the ‘realism’ of the moment.

Ok I love Hephaestus’s character in the books and in mythology. For some reason this actor didn’t conjure him for me. My Hephaestus is hunched, buff, more noticeably physically disabled, more dramatic and eccentric and kind and gruff. Idk this actor just fell flat for me.

Just small things with the scene cuts. Like how the camera stays on someone’s face for a second or two too long… all the fckn time. Small, consistently annoying thing for me. ¯\_(:/)_/¯

“Thank you for the emotional abuse and the cheeseburgers.” … what? Isn’t the whole point that Grover was buttering him up? What is the point of the emotional abuse comment to Ares’s face if Grover was playing him up the whole time. It feels like something that was written for kitschy woke-ism points instead of a genuine callout/dialogue that fits more smoothly with what’s happening before, during and after that moment. Cause then Grover asks for paper towels immediately after… 😅 bruh what.

the eclipse triggering, particularly the moment when guts is running towards griff and griff is like "if you touch me now, i'll never be able to forgive you again" ough... him trying to kill himself before that and failing, because despite everything he just can't! and the eclipse in general, it's one of those things that is unlike anything else and you know you'll never get to experience again, gives me chills each time i rewatch the third movie

griffith self-harming after his #strategichoe moments, people like calling him a sociopath but he's not, that's the entire point... he may be nasty and he may have no principles, but he's not like... without depth of perception, without guilt, without humanity. him hurting himself in that river after prostituting himself in order to finance his army, him thinking of that small dead boy while he takes the form of a young boy himself during the eclipse... it all speaks of his choices, of things he's willing to sacrifice in order to achieve his dream. the sacrifice hurting and being a loss is the point. was it worth it? eternal question

griffith going to charlotte's after guts served him the divorce papers, it's actually the first time i started paying attention to the story. Because my first introduction to it was the old anime in 2011 or so, and like, the 90s anime just happens to be fucking boring it's not very good. not very exciting. so i was watching it like ok whatever when will you end already. and i didn't know anything about the story right, so when he went there i was like OMFG NOOOOO like this is going to have Consequences holy shit... and when he was hugging himself and trembling i was like boy this is NOT ending well for you! the moment i fell in love with griffith actually lol

the divorce papers being served TBH like that was the separation of the century. i think the scene is very beautiful in the movie, the silence invoked by the snow is eerie, beautiful colors. it's very good in the manga too, with that iconic yandere griff panel

also like.... everyone can Feel the emotions that taylor is feeling in the memories including taylor but it is affecting him so much more because these are his memories and he's practically reliving them and i just love the idea of like. at first it's like the happy memories of his life and being a fucking cool badass and taylor is like this is gonna be a piece of cake my life is great and then as they keep going it gets worse and taylor is like ummm that's weird 🤔🤔🤔 and then it goes to the memories of him getting bullied and such and everyone is like. feeling sad for taylor and he doesn't even know how to react or what to say because he's perfectly fine nowadays and this isn't even relevant... and then because everyone is feeling the feelings of the memories then taylor starts to lose his composure a little but he still believes that he's fine right

and then like. the memories get worse and taylor starts getting shakier and more frantic and starts suggesting that they just go and then it gets to his fear of abandonment stuff... like scary's comment about nicky and then EVERYONE can physically feel their stomachs drop and the really intense feeling of fear and sadness and heartbreak
