the sushi chef at my work is not very good with english and whenever theres a holiday i teach him the holiday in english so recently it was memorial day and he literally said to me "why the fack you say remembery but just mememoryial" and so that was fun and i said it was to remember veterans and he said "i remembery them." so!

today i taught him juneteenth (ik it was yesterday but i didnt work yesterday) and he said "june with ...teeth?" and when i explained that juneteenth is to celebrate the end of slavery and he said "oh! thats uh. is good :)"

"i see him/her as a brother/sister" is often used as an excuse for emotional cheating behavior and has a very negative connotation behind it even if it is true for a specific situation. HOWEVER men and women are allowed to be friends but I think instead of relating them to a sibling it should either be like an animal who breaks shit or a very distant family member you kind of hate. like instead of "i love him like a brother!" its like "I love him like I love my cat that digs up my plants and knocks my mugs off the table, very begrudgingly and regrettably." or instead of "she's like my sister" its "she's like my second cousin who I tolerate." because I think a little bit of true friendships between men and women is that you both hate each other just a little bit.
