Yesterday’s haul. Went to pick up the copy of Echopraxia that I ordered and ended up walking out with 5 other books because they had just priced a big collection of old sci-fi paperbacks that came in the day prior. Found a few gems including this edition of Neuromancer that is not rare but it matches the editions of Burning Chrome and Count Zero that I have, so I’m happy. Especially stoked about the Malzberg find. In the words of Bookpilled “if you see a Malzberg, buy it”.

nice pulls from the used store today. Strugatsky one was pricy but worth it. both are from the late 70s and in fantastic condition.

God I love this song so much. I’ll be damned if this isn’t one of the best albums of the whole year.

I found her out back sitting naked looking up and looking dead. A crumpled yellow piece of paper, with seven nines and tens. I thought she’d be there holding daisies, she always waits for me. She thinks she missed the train to Mars, she’s out back counting stars.

Barbara Remington created the cover art for the first authorized US paperback edition of The Lord of the Rings published in 1965. The single large image was cropped to form the three book covers. The full painting was released as a large poster in 1969, 6' wide by 3' high.
It's an iconic piece of midcentury psychedelic design, an abstract representation of a great journey, with a sense of movement from pastoral safety through the wilderness into fantastic danger. Tolkien reportedly disliked the style, and questioned why there were "pumpkins" in the tree.

hit the grouse grind a few (3) times today with some new mountain friends who adopted me, then took the seabus back to east van and stopped at Macleod's and scored another mini-haul. This is the third Banks novel I've collected and I still haven't read him yet lol. Putting all my faith in the positive reviews here. Also haven't read War of the Worlds yet and I really liked this SF Masterworks hardcover copy so I thought why not, I'll bite!

two more vintage paperback scores from the other day. both of these books ended up on my radar because of Bookpilled (fantastic youtube channel, check him out). I literally gasped when I spotted this copy of Hothouse by Brian Aldiss. Very stoked to read it.
