the worst part of trying to write a canon divergent fic with regulus as the protag is doing the math to figure out hogwarts years and having to figure out whose birthday happens in which part of the year so that starting at 11 makes sense

I think one of the most impactful parts of crimson rivers is how meticulously it is structured. right from the jump, we see things like both sirius and regulus having the same thought within the narrative due to absolutely different motivations. regulus mentions a bookshelf that doesn't appear again until the very end of the fic, but was not lost amidst the details and world-building. regulus dreaming of evan and that message being a thoroughline through the entire fic, so much so that it had me sobbing when it was the last thing we got to see in the entire story. for a story that long and all-encompassing, that is just so impressive to me
