Happy to Announce the release of my new CD/Download - Mike Tamburo - Shaking The Spirit From The Bone https://miketamburo.bandcamp.com/album/shaking-the-spirit-from-the-bone ----- Mike Tamburo creates dense layers of processed vocal toning and chants. Otherworldly and Cathartic. ----- I created these pieces this past February as an act of sound healing for myself. The process of creating and recording this allowed for one of the greatest emotional releases of my lifetime. I recorded this in my mother's basement in the same spot I did a lot of my early recordings as a teenager. I was in a place in my life where I had so much emotion I needed to release and work through. I had to go home and cry to my mother and I had to start singing. Singing was the medicine I needed. I set up my effects, looper, recorder and microphone and I just started toning and creating layer after layer of my voice. It was as if I were crying and howling in tune. By the end of each song cycle my heart had grown in some way. This was one of those records that comes when you have to figure out a new way to love yourself. Healing is a creative act. Grateful to be on this journey with you. As ya’ll probably have noticed, I have pretty much been on tour or traveling for most of the last 4 years. This weekend I feel that I am wrapping up this cycle in my life. I have a training and 2 concerts in Northport Long Island NY. I am really looking forward to these events. I feel that they will be potent experiences. You will notice that my schedule is somewhat empty for a bit after this. I am reaching a nodal point in many of my life cycles now. This means I must settle into a still point before I move onto my next cycle. I do not know for how long (could be a day, a few weeks or months or when I need money - which will be soon honestly), only that I need to rest, heal and integrate before I move to what is next or make any new plans. This has been an amazing experience playing so much music for so many people, traveling the US during this age and experiencing so many beautiful inspirations, miracles and awakenings happening around me. I am just so completely grateful every day that this is what have been doing - that this is my life. I am grateful for my friends. I am grateful for my support systems. I am grateful for audiences. I am grateful to the Earth and the forces that unite us. I have dedicated myself to embodying the force and power of music and allowing that force to flow and work through me. Silence and space are also a part of music and I choose to explore those facets of music’s healing power for myself now. Certainly there will be more songs and concerts and workshops soon. I just have a feeling that this weekends workshops and concerts will really be something special and I think it would be good for both me and for you if you can make it to these performances.
