I don't think "edgy" or "serious" creepypasta is a new thing. it has always coexisted alongside sillier versions. I think it's weird to see people treat it as some new type of guy everytime "serious" rewrites or versions start catching their attention.

As much as I love adding more "realistic" headcanons to Creepypastas (i.e, chronic pains after some injuries they've gone through), I also love how the stories are just...fundamentally unrealistic. It provides a great laugh reading them back years later, and gives the community their own opportunity to make headcanons like what I said, without changing the stories too much. Plus, it's just nostalgic.

classic fandom creepypasta and the new onslaught of more realistic versions of creepypasta are things that should and can coexist!

i see a lot of people arguing from one side or the other ABOUT the other and it's like? we're all writing about the same fictional killers here, we're all talking or drawing about the same characters! and whos to say you cant mix the silly in with the serious or vice versa

whos to say jeff cant be a deranged murderer but still come home and listen to ABBA or somethin on his lil iPod touch

Tails Doll is superior to BEN. Why? Because I remember I am scared of Tails Doll more when I was a kid. Such underrated creepypasta that came out first before BEN starts in 2010s. I remember Tails Doll urban legends starts around 2007? So no offense to BEN fans. I think Tails Doll is far better and scarier than BEN.

Habit Everymanhybrid is not even powerful and evil as Zalgo. Zalgo is always evilest Creepypasta. Slenderman is not a hero either, he is almost evil as Zalgo.

I hate it when people make Nina not a killer or like just some true crime fan girl. She's Cannonically worse than Jeff. She kills like so so many people so brutally in her original story.

I don’t get why people act like Creepypasta characters can’t get along or exist in the same space. That mindset kills creativity. The appeal of Creepypasta is making broken pieces fit; maybe badly at first, but with enough effort, you can make anything work. Saying ‘they’d never live together’ just shows a lack of imagination, not realism.

Where tf are y'all hanging out that oc x canon/silliness/cringe ocs aren't thriving? My own hot take is that people need to get off TikTok because that's the only place where I see the whole "realism >>> oc x canon is cringe etc" sentiment in the creepypasta fandom is still alive. Tiktok isn't for creepypasta, tiktok isn't healthy for fandom in general but ESPECIALLY creepypasta.

Hot take: the fandom has a death grip on characters made by people who get abandoned/ostracized by the fandom for good or bad reasons and it creates power vacuums in which new people come up claiming to be the best and most truthful storyteller of that character and in the space, only for the water to boil over and burn the already burned fandom.

Additional hot take: this could be solved by creating copy cat characters who serve functionally the same purpose but exist separately and there are more of them. Can’t get canon wrong if there are innumerable little guys of similar molds, no power vacuums because no one is an authority figure, and everyone gets their headcanons to become true because they own that copy cat. (See the many many many Jeffs, but do it better no hierarchy)

Additional additional hot take: the desire to own the characters you like but not providing basic respect to the people who made them by acknowledging that they own them even if you don’t agree with their existence will destroy you. Make new shit or repurpose the term copypasta and make more shit.

But I feel we are not ready for that conversation.
