it is funny to me that 66 episodes in they still haven't decided on a clear way to get caleb out of frumpkin vision when something's happening. beau just kinda wildly slaps him and grabs his shoulders and shakes him around until he comes back

i’m actually obsessed with cerrit. he’s the odd one out. he’s the only member of the brass ring without magic. he’s the only one not hiding anything. he’s the sole survivor.

he is always watching but he does not press his friends about the secrets they keep until it’s too late. he is the anchor that counterbalances their hubris. the ring of brass is destroying itself each other in pvp ten minutes after he leaves because the sightwarden of the eyes of avalir is their sense of fucking perspective.

thinking about how the hoarding of magic itself became hostile as the age of arcanum came crashing down. trying to keep the magic from the calix results in disaster. everybody’s magical items explode. if they don’t spend their highest spell slots quick they’re going to be weaponised against them.

thinking about the sole survivor of the ring of brass being the one without magic. all he has are his own two wings and a promise to keep.

A fun fact about EXU Calamity-

Working on these had me stressed and overwrought, mostly because I was worried that I wasn’t gonna pull of the Look, and the aesthetic would be shakier because of me.

To deal with that, I made up a character to be the in-universe mosaicist who was designing and crafting these panels of the Ring of Brass. Every time I messed up or my hand slipped and I had to go back a step, I imagined him dropping a tile, muttering a curse, and trying again. His name was Florent, he was a journeyman artist and craftsperson in Avalir, and he was my coworker for about a month.

Matt is getting more and more complex and big with his plot ideas with every campaign at the same time and pace as the players are getting more and more "fuck it we ball" with their characters and I have to say, that's a very fun pair of trajectories to watch ricochet off of each other.

I think the most plausible way for Caleb to become Headmaster of the Soltryce is to move into the office.

Just posting up in Margolin’s office one day, matter of factly telling him his services were no longer needed on a day-to-day basis and to kindly remove his personal affects from the room. With the poorly veiled threat that if he does not the Assembly might find themselves short another Archmage before the day is done.

Beau and Nott's race up the tree is honest to god one of my favorite bits in the entire campaign.

Caleb being completely undeterred by Beau shutting the door in his face and threatening to speak loudly through it where everyone can hear, only to politely ask if he can come in when she opens it again. How two only children fell so naturally into the sibling dynamic is truly impressive and I love them so much.
