Busy afternoon at the CRT FarmFest Parcel Pick-up, operated by the Lions Club of Toowoomba West (great job), as the shadows grew longer and the moon came over the top of the row, ending day two. Thursday is the last day of the 38th event, with the traditional 'buyers afternoon' of specials at CRT FarmFest.

Here's an invention from a man who 'hated the cost' of fencing labour so he invented a machine that lifts rolls of fencing wire, runs them out, clamps them tight so a tractor, bobcat or similar unit can drive forward and tension the fence and then it can be tied off to a strainer post. He only decided last week to bring these two units to CRT FarmFest and farmers and fencing contractors are buying them off the stand after just the first day. Contractors can erect up to four kilometres of fence in just one day with this 'Quikfence' unit, which saves on labour and makes the job safer given the larger fencing rolls now on the market. A local invention, being sold locally and being used all over Queensland! See Jon Earl and his inventions at CRT FarmFest Wednesday or Thursday this week or e-mail [email protected] Loving Australian innovation!

Merchandise manager, Ben Otto (left), and Precision Ag Specialist, Jeremy Jones, both of Dalby Rural Supplies with the new Weedit autonomous spray unit on display at CRT FarmFest. The unit, which allows a tractor and spray to operate across the paddock without a driver, will also be demonstrated each afternoon in the main demonstration area. Not only is it a precision farm machine, thanks to the sensor (in the foreground), but is also reduces chemical cost and has proven quite effective in controlling weeds are resistant to chemical sprays. CRT FarmFest runs over the next three days, 20 km west of Toowoomba (Qld) on the Warrego Highway.
