For this month’s playlist, it will be a sunflower! 

The sunflower centers around happiness, joy, and loyalty. This flower simply makes us feel warm and fuzzy as we gaze upon it!

There’s actually a Greek myth that goes along with the flower! A water nymph, Clytie, was fervently in love with Apollo. Unfortunately, the Sun God did not reciprocate her sentiments. Since her feelings were unrequited. The nymph aimlessly wandered through the mountains and hills, and without sustenance, the grief-stricken nymph soon passed away. 

When Apollo learned of her passing, he was in a state of regret. He begged his father to bring Clytie back to life. Zeus did bring her back but as a flower. Since that day, sunflowers began to follow the Sun until it goes down, and eventually, they look down as it waits for the Sun to rise again.

I’ll be making a series of playlists for every month with a different flower associated with it!

This playlist was supposed to be posted last month, but I’ve been a bit busy!

The flower for last month’s playlist is Dicentra. This flower is linked to heartbreak and lost love. And May reminds me of the love that I had lost last year. I was expecting that by this year I’d be able to completely move on, but the heartbreak seemed that it was only yesterday. The wound is still very fresh. I sort of hate myself for not being able to let go because of the fact that he and I almost had it all, but there’s this certain aspect in our lives that neither of us could go against, hence our separation.
