trick question! estelle dresses the exact same way for rain and hot climes. i have a personal headcanon that roegadyn are more efficient at regulating their body temp (why they're so good at living in extreme environments!) which allows for some unwise fashion decisions. of course this does nothing for sunburn, so: parasol. maybe a wide-brimmed hat if she's feeling daring.

the way you can't be mean to metieon and the wol accepts her friendship in the end with no player choice is a really good decision on the devs part because some of you are so fucking mean and entirely unsympathetic to her

ive spoken at length in private how i hate the "peer review" jokes because meteion was, i think, perfect, as far as the ancients knew. this was a society that only knew death as a gentle reward at the end of a long and well lived life. even one of the most disillusioned among them, hermes, could not possibly comprehend the cruelty and suffering that existed in the universe.

from an ancient's perspective, it might be odd that hermes was going to such lengths to ask other worlds the meaning of life, but otherwise it would raise no red flags. the ancients did not know the kind of suffering that existed beyond their star.

anyways. all of this lore aside, meteion is also largely a metaphor. she is the question at the heart of the expansion- what is the meaning of life? why is life so sacred and good if there so much suffering? how do we make sense of a universe where none of our pain has meaning?

finally- i think the twins' sacrifice being directly linked to meteion's own personal despair was brilliant because they really are wonderful foils. the three of them are gifted children, loved deeply by their parents, and sent out into the wider world/galaxy, only to find that the world can be deeply cruel. while the twins had each other and the scions, the meteia had only their echo chamber of panic and rising despair- so the twins grew stronger and stood up again with the aid of their friends, while meteion simply fell deeper and deeper into helpless despair.

tl;dr meteion is a good kid who deserves better
