Madonna & Child 2020
Madonna & Child 2020

My fifth (maybe last?) Cryptopop #lockdown painting is this “Madonna & Child” for the #COVID19 Age.

I’m really happy with the colors on this one, having finally learned how to blend blues and violets into my skin tones to paint more vibrant looking faces. Kinda made me want to revisit all of my paintings from the last year to give them a second wash.
“Madonna & Child” is currently available…

The Window The Window is the third cinemagraph in my COVID19 series. We're now on our third week in lockdown as I write this, and I'm less and less optimistic that the quarantine period will be lifted on April 14th as originally planned.

The Breather
The second cinemagraph in my COVID19 series. We’re finishing off our second week in lockdown as I write this, and I’ve kept busy with (1) indoor calisthenics, (2) Bitcoin trading, and (3) cryptoart.
But damn I do miss being able to take a break and go outside without a mask on.
This piece is part of Makersplace‘s #COVID19Relief campaign, and partial proceeds of its sale will go to the G…

Dany Dreaming
2020 Dreaming: Exploring a more painterly style for the new decade @trevorjonesart @coldie @madbitcoins @satoshigallery

I’ve been exploring a more painterly style recently using simulated oil and turpentine. I think the biggest challenge with working with these rougher brushes is deciding when enough detail is enough, and the illustrator in me is always tempted to paint in more detail whenever possible. That said I’m quite happy with the subdued, low-contrast color palette on this Daenerys piece as it’s a pretty…

Mononoke
Princess Mononoke: My second entry in the "Princesses" series of digital paintings

When I first saw Miyazaki’s Princess Mononokein the late 90s I remember being absolutely gobsmacked by the notion that such a mature film could exist in the realm of mainstream animation. This was still the era of family-friendly (“commercially viable”) Disney fare after all, and Studio Ghibli didn’t have quite the reputation that it enjoys today. I watched it again a few weeks ago while…

Ariel
"Ariel" rendered with the awesome @procreate app with the aid of the excellent @paperlike screen protector. #digitalart #mermaids

I’ve been thinking of doing a photorealistic portrait series of favorite female characters from my childhood, and this is the first official installment. The Little Mermaid was the first time I remember sitting in a cinema and wanting to hurry home so I could start copying the vibrant Disney style I saw onscreen. I think I was 9 years old at the time.

I’m particularly proud of the facial…

Jessica Jones

This painting is my farewell to one of the best superhero shows on TV Marvel’s Jessica Jones, and was so much fun to work on. I’ve been experimenting with Facebook’s 3D photos these past few weeks and I came up with the layout for this piece primarily because I wanted to see if I could amplify the illusion of 3D by having a hard foreground and multiple “layers” of background. You can check out…

The Litecoin Halvening

A few weeks ago, the Litecoin Foundation commissioned me to work on a shirt that commemorates their next halvening event, which is happening in less that a month’s time. I think the finished shirt design looks pretty sweet:

If you wanna support a Filipino #cryptoartist and #LTC, drop by their website and grab a shirt at https://litecoin-foundation.org/pr…/litecoin-halvening-2019/

John Wick
What Would John Wick Use? #Bitcoin

The John Wick films are amongst the most inventive actioners of the last decade, and I’ve been waiting for awhile now to parody the gold coins they use as the currency of the underworld. This is a simple little painting, but I’m pretty proud of the layout and color palette. The whole thing took 5.5 hours, including the initial noodling and research, and was the perfect way to pass the time while…

Missandei's Last Words
Missandei’s Last Words

Game of Thrones‘ eighth and final season has ended the lives of many of its most beloved characters, and one of those deaths was particularly controversial because of the events that led up to it. Missandei’s capture and eventual execution was both a major emotional trigger for Daenerys and Greyworm, as well as a quasi-foreshadowing of what would become of King’s Landing.
I guess you could…

Vegeta 9000 Redux

Two years ago, along with every other person on the Internet, I made a Vegeta meme when the Bitcoin price climbed past $9000. Although I was initially hesitant to make the same joke again, I thought it’d be fun to approach it as a sequel, and render it in a completely different way.
The painted aesthetic and flat background is a new path I’ve been taking recently, and it’s forcing me to…

To The Moon!

My new Bitcoin shirt is out and for sale at CryptoWhaleClothing as of today. Like my Litecoin: Ignite the Fire design, it combines elements of the community and fandom. In this case, we’ve got the Hodlnaut, the rollercoaster guy, and a small Cryptopop remix of Supper at the Bitcoin Moonbase.

You can buy this as a shirt (starts at $25) or alternatively as a limited edition canvas printright now!

The Cryptomatic Water Dragon
My Cryptopop production notes for "The @Cryptomatic Water Dragon" #bitcoin #digitalpainting #cryptoart

I think this Cryptomatic poster design is my favorite of all the stuff I’ve done this year. It features a water dragon dancing inside an exploded view of their famous Bitcoin Envoy watch, and blends two of my favorite things: my unhealthy fascination with drawing complicated machines, and my love of graceful organics.
My drawing app, Procreate, tells me I spent over 16.5 hours on this…

Crushing $8000
#Bitcoin Crushing $8000 #nycblockchainweek #consensus #consensus2019
Clegane-bowl is here, and it was as brutal as we all expected. Meanwhile, Bitcoin hit $8000 and life is good.
PS. This is probably my favorite Cryptopop of the year 😀
As always, your donations help me to keep creating this stuff regularly, so if you liked this portrait, please consider supporting my work by sending some coins to any of the addresses below.

$7000: B is for Bran
$7000: As predicted by Bran Stark #bitcoin #cryptocurrency #got
I’ve been teaching myself how to paint digitally these last few weeks and this is officially my first Bitcoin illustration that’s fully painted. My Procreate app tells me that it took a little over 10 hours to complete this piece, which is at least twice as long as my more comic-book-like illustrations, but I have to say, I’m really digging the painted look.
Hopefully there’ll be enough time…

$6000 Redux

This is a mild spoiler from Game of Thrones Season 7, but I trust that most people will have already seen the 2017 episodes that reveal Jon Snow’s true lineage.
In my non-art persona, I run a crypto trading desk in Manila, so I’ve had the pleasure of watching Bitcoin climbing up from $5000 throughout most of April and with each new spike $6000 just seemed inevitable. That didn’t make it any…

In case you don’t know what the official MCC cast of characters actually looks like, here they are for comparative purposes:
