i really want to get into more 18+ species/spaces in general. but i think requesting a picture of your id or your goddamn birth certificate to join a server is actually crazy. I've seen it at least twice and I don't care if you hav the best online community in the world I'm not sending a picture of my id through discord. one server was like "if you dont send us your id/if you leave the server after we ask for your id we're going to assume you're a minor and blacklist you" dude my parents used to tell me id be kidnapped if i posted my first name online you're not getting my license

That’s definitely a modern internet thing and is completely fucking bonkers. You don’t know those people, you don’t know if they’re going to attempt to dox you or steal your identity. Not to mention that in some countries it’s illegal to demand ID unless you have special training.

Dekudogs are whatever to me, but I genuinely dislike it when the people designing them try to play them off as *not* being inspired by a certain character. Just saw a MYO WIP in a server recently that was a blatant copy of a character from Fate/Apocrypha and when the designer got dimed on it, they acted like it was one big coincidence. You literally copied the character's colour scheme, design elements, and pose, own up to it.

just had perhaps the most fucked up experience in closed species ever, lads. artist died in the middle of completing my breeding. (lineart finished, colors not.) the other artists are of course trying to make it right by completing the breeding but frankly it's the least of my priorities right now. it's one thing for someone to leave a species but a whole different thing to know they're just... gone. look at the masterlist and see their characters still there. and it's fucked up that a community i am a part of has lost such a genuinely kind, funny and talented person.

please appreciate your artists, folks. they're humans too at the end of the day.

This is why i don’t talk here. Jeez. First of all, it’s been almost a year: I have stuff pending that i can’t even get paid for because of it- due to how sudden it felt and now i’m scrambling to try and make sure i can. Secondly, I do have friends outside of it- this is such a back handed comment?? It’s a CLOSED SPECIES vent thing. I’m allowed to vent- you don’t like it? No need to comment. Chams are stupidly hard to get, as someone who owns one. They analysis the issues in the community, and if a child can recognize certain flaws in the community and you can’t , maybe that should be a reflection of your issues. I’m allowed to be frustrated by a community I used to love being apart of going to shit.

You didn’t need to reply to this, nobody asked you to. The whole point of this blog IS to vent about closed species. I’m allowed to be frustrated, that’s the point. People like you are why i want to leave the community- you comment so aggressively without thinking. I recognize being upset won’t make it go any faster. Sirfluff DIDN’T make anyone attack anyone. They made a post calling out the situation, saying they were leaving and that was it.

TLDR: people like you are why i want to leave the community, this place is meant to be able to vent out feelings of cs, sirfluff NEVER made anyone attack anyone- you never needed to make that comment about friends outside the community, jeez. You are also apart of the problem - i’m an artist who can no longer really be paid for the art and it’s become a major inconvenience to me due to it, i’m allowed to be stressed and annoyed by it. I understand them taking a break but it’s almost been a YEAR. You are the type of people who make me want to leave too- the person also mentioned things like being told to do nasty things to themself DUE to drawing an actual real life animal that chams were inspired off of- showcasing the actual toxicity of the community that YOU ARE ALSO SHOWCASING??? You’re right, a few people from the new “board of directors” upper staff are entirely untrustworthy, specifically the ones who were moderators before piper stepped down. The ones that came back were always involved in petty garbage and 2 separate times over the years kicked their entire lower staff from the team over personal drama that had nothing to do with the community. I’m already sensing another wetdog revolution because it’s obvious stuff is being done without transparency AGAIN.

Never thought I'd see Mediborgs be brought up here, wow. While we're on the subject, I 100% agree that Nyxium, who is the owner of species, has just stopped caring. I used to buy their designs back before the Eclipse takeover on DeviantArt pretty frequently as I admired their art then.

I've noticed that Nyxium's Mediborg designs (as well as their regular adopts), unless they are a collaboration where the other person does the lineart, they end up on some soppily colored chibi base that was purchased for $2.00 or less and Nyxium is expecting to gain anywhere between $30-$50+ for them...

Keep in mind, these are pretty popular bases that are used by other non-CS adopt makers, so not only is your Mediborg design bare bones and soppily colored (my last purchased borg had places where the color went outside the lines, sadly), but they're also posed within the same generic pose and have the same face as a thousand other adopts. :/

(in reply to an older anon talking about hoodjinx) the hoodjinx founder isn't really apart of the species much anymore? at least i haven't seen them around. it's mostly run by a small handful of mods. they're all very very nice and i've seen them spend their personal cs money and stuff to help new users get their jinx approved. they're running a small event right now too! regardless it's a nice little community and I really enjoy it! ^^

As someone who follows the owner of Mediborgs on other platforms where they've talked more about what's going on, including their personal/non-cs server, they are going through a lot in their personal life right now, so I'm guessing they just don't have the time and energy to dedicate to the species right now but still need money to support themselves, since as far as I know they currently do not have a job outside of art. Just wanting to clarify as I don't think I've seen them talk about what's happening on the Medi discord. I don't wanna air out their business but it's pretty valid reasons I'd say!

never satisfied with just one I join more and more whilst my MYO slots are left sitting dusty on the shelf and the characters I made? tossed under it.

but all I do is make more art to get more slots for designs i only have written down

So many CB dainty designs are god awful to look at. I get that it's a rare Cb ticket and you want to use as much unsual traits as possible, but I think there is a fine line between having the design be "worth the price/rarity" and having the design be a batshit eyesore

In response to that, I think it's because the Coelune mods didn't set some expectations properly with members, and when delays happened, they only gave out announcements when it's already past too long/many people are asking the same things in the help channel. They are, as always, in need of more people to approve designs and run events. As someone who's been there for more than a year, I already know the process is slow, and delays are regular.

Most of the ones worried about their MYOs are new members or first time to use lorekeeper to submit. They also didn't have a functional guide because the images were from discord, the guide in TH can be hard to follow. I didn't join the turn in but my friend new to CS did and all this time they thought they are just waiting for the character to be uploaded. They didn't know that after submitting, getting approved, you submit again using the MYO.

I think it's valid for members to ask/follow up especially if there aren't clear enough guidelines or because the lorekeeper UI is hard to navigate. I just hope they open mod apps to handle the workload because I feel bad at how long the approval queue is/amount of work to be done by the 2 people running it.
