it sucks that i cant leave from unbleeders from multiple factors. from my own finances that ive poured into the species as a whole then making connections with other members in the community regardless how much the species doesnt appeal to me anymore it feels like im wasting my resources and time into it for nothing. Not to mention how some of the members make me uncomfortable and it somehow tainted my perception of the species over time

The Issue with Tanucakes is that all the official adopts are starting to get really repetitive, and the schedule of "adopts, prompt, more adopts, myo and the occasional MYO sale" feels incredibly lazy and cash-grabby. Not to talk about how most of the offical adopts are starting to look identical and just plain un-creative.

If you take a gander at the trade channels, you can see that many are desperate to get rid of their tanucakes for that angel cat species, or succubuns

I don’t feel your trying to be exploitative if you enjoy designing and know your comfort zone with pricing then all your doing is just selling an adopt like every other artist does? It’s the same with commissions!

The only time i feel it is exploitative is when a cs mod or owner use their popularity to try exploiting people with spending habits to pay their bills for them. Thats something that’s always disgusted me I’m a species artist as well and I fully know a lot of people in this species has a spending addiction I politely decline their offers (I will never accept anything over 30$ I usually don’t even sell for more then 25$ im just not comfortable with it).

All in all if you’re genuinely just having fun keep doing you don’t let that get you down! Just keep a close eye on the people your selling to it’s not your job to baby sit but definitely set a hard limit on how many times someone can buy from you in a time span.

JR is definitely pretty dead. There's a bit of activity when the occasional event comes out. Soupling has a lot of health issues. Simonetry stepped away as an admin in 2023. So at the core of it, there's no one left to keep the species going.

The last ML upload on DA I can see is May 10 2025.

It's a shame about Soupling's health because JRs were going an interesting direction. Health is more important than a bunch of super cute characters, so if JRs have to fade away so Soupling can get better, then goodbye to the cute little balls of fluff and smoke. No rules against reviving them later, after all.

Honestly, It's disturbing the amount of people that think 18+ CS that are animal based are inherently NSFW. Imagine seeing a cute animal species and thinking adults can't just enjoy cute stuff while also wanting to interact with other adults. And even if there is NSFW? So what? Get over yourself. Animals are cute + the COMMUNITY (sometimes the content too but mostly the community) are adults (who don't want to engage with people under 18 because we are at separate stages of life and I feel more icky being in a community with minors and more tired if I have to check if everything I said is PG or not ie I like making lil sex jokes but I do NOT want a kid to hear it) means these species are 18+ despite most of the people in it literally just there to draw cute creatures

This is honestly what I hate most about cs

People always complain that cs aren't unique enough and it's all just animal × thing, but even if it's truly a unique concept, people do NOT care at all if the artist(s) behind it don't have a popular style. Same with adopts in general, if you can't render/color/draw super nicely in a widely pleasing way, L for you I guess.

I made a species that I think is somewhat unique, nothing crazy. My art is fine I think, not bad but not like fenokey level. Another pop artist made a kiinndd of similar cs a bit after I made mine (NOT saying they copied me, guarantee they have no idea who I am or my cs), and their cs popped tf off while I lick crumbs off the floor.

Just how it is unfortunately, I don't *really* care, I just want to draw and write good stories rather than rake in boatloads of cash -though that would be nice too

I wish certain species would accept non-monetary ways to get myos. Some of these species are really cute but the adopts/myos tend to get really expensive.
