Anna fidgeted trying to cover the stems of her shades with a cord that could be cinched to keep them in place. She checked herself in the side view mirror of her pickup. The floppy cap would protect her ears and scalp from the sun and it made her dark broad eyes appear more intense. She situated the glasses finally. The practical khaki, belts, straps and pockets made for a handsome outfit and, along with solid boots, sun-soaked skin on bare shoulders, she was ready for the climb. (more)

Justin Bieber to revert to family name Justin Wegrzynowski

The immortal pop star Justin Bieber claims the “world is ready”.

Adding to the bombshell revealed earlier this week that the child pop star is an immortal, Justin revealed more detail today. Born Justyn Wegrzynowski (that’s “Werzenowski”) in Poland in 1843 to a fisherman and a midwife, Justin had lived there for his first century or so of obscurity. Then, in the aftermath of World War II he resided in Canada the last 65 years under an assumed name. Slipping from family to family as the generations went by, he kept off the grid trying to remain relatively anonymous. This became increasingly difficult in the Internet age and the perpetual 16 year-old boy immortal gave in to baser desires by posting local play performance videos on YouTube.  He was discovered through a mis-clicked link in 2008 by Scooter Braun, who was looking for videos of singing dogs to put in Usher’s new Christmas video.

In the 1940s and '50s hundreds of thousands of eastern Europeans, many still reeling from the Holocaust, arrived in allied countries throughout the west. Officials urged the émigrés to change their names to sound less “eastern”. Justin was one of them. There was no legal obligation for them to drop their family names, but they often were encouraged to do so. Because Justin appeared to be a minor, he had no choice but to comply.  Two generations later, folks like Justin are feeling a need to reconnect with their roots. They are trying to persuade their local governments to allow them to return to the family names their parents and grandparents gave up when they arrived here after World War II.

There is but one problem: the unwritten Law of Pop Rock doesn't allow teen beat stars to revert to "foreign sounding" names.  Justin is now appealing to his fans to continue to embrace him, his heritage and his continued reign as a perpetual pop star for decades to come, spreading Wegrzynowski Fever wherever his concerts sell out.
