Aside from the jokes I think this could mean that Sonic is way more straightforward in his reasoning. His heart knows what's right and he'll do it, like the hero he's always been.

On the other hand, Shadow's reasoning is way more complex. His heart still struggles to define right from wrong, and his subspace represents the different paths he could take or could have taken. But eventually he'll find his way, find his path among all the chaos in his mind, and we'll get to follow him on that path in this game.
