Such diplomatic answers. She really was royalty now. Not that it was bad. No, that had been one of Luna's arguments, one of their many arguments about Scarlett's coming here. Wolf would constantly use that moment against Luna whenever they would bicker, at least for the first few years. But Wolf knew Luna had a point and it seemed her gamble might pay off. Wolf always brought up the risk that Red would be successful in turning Scarlett against them, making Scarlett as miserable as the last two Reds felt for having wolfblood in them.
Luna felt differently. She was always so certain of herself. She would have been a fabulous leader... Maybe she saw that part of herself in Scarlett.
The fact that Scarlett had hugged him so tightly gave Wolf hope and the confidence that Luna had been right. Wolf was usually an optimistic person, but when it came to the harsh treatment of wolves, he had seen far too much to think better of anyone.
"That bad, huh?" Wolf lowered his voice slightly, wondering if Scarlett would get in trouble if they spoke of 'wolf things'. "We can talk more about that when we're back in Wendell's kingdom. Things are different there now, for wol-- us. People like us." Wolf couldn't help but smile, his chest pushing out just a little, proudly, "All thanks to yours truly." He chuckled, then grabbed Scarlett's hands, unable to contain his enthusiasm and emotions, despite the pressure in his blood he felt from the pendant so close by.
"Oh, Scarlett, I'm so excited for you to meet Virginia. And Tony, her father. And of course, Prince-- King Wendell will be there. I mean it's his castle, of course. He's really not so stuffy anymore since our whole adventure. I think being cursed into a dog did wonders for his personality." He shook his head, "But Virginia is an absolute dream. She's loving and kind and funny and so very sweet. I never thought I would get much of a happy ending, but I can't see how I'll ever be unhappy again with her in my life now. And you back in it..." Wolf's tone turned more serious. He wanted to apologize again, but it felt like too much. He didn't want to ruin the moment with regret all over again.
How to describe the smell of one's pack... Their family... It was kind of like those candles in the mall. The ones that smelled like Christmas in a jar? The scent of one's pack was kind of like that. Christmas and birthdays and everything good in the Kingdoms all rolled into one.
She clung to her brother, inhaling the scent of him. The feeling of being enveloped by her family. It had been a long time since she felt anything close to it.
At the turn of the lock, she sighed. Of course. Red wouldn't want their conversations overheard. Or any...less than human...behaviours observed. As Wolf asked about her life, she shrugged. She knew what she should say... That life here was wonderful. All she could ever want. That she was so grateful to Red for bringing her here.
But the truth of the matter was she was living in a cage. A rather large cage, with plenty of room to move about, but a cage all the less. Something meant to confine her. Trap her in her human form. Suppress the other sides of her.
She was too young to clearly remember the pendant she now wore, but Red had not hidden the fact it was a family heirloom. Used by past Queens. Well...a past Queen.
"It's...life at Court. Never without its challenges." A diplomatic answer. Not a lie that her brother would immediately sniff out. But also not the truth...which the guards would tattle to red about. "But every day makes me more the Queen the people of this Kingdom deserve." Not the Queen they would want. But the one they deserved. It was the only reason Scarlett had allowed herself to be dragged back after that flight attempt. Once she was Queen...she could change things for the wolves.
Help her pack and the others like them.
As for Wolf's other question....the fact that she seemed hesitant to answer, that she looked towards the door said it all. That and the stink of magic that surrounded her. She experienced the change. The call of the moon. And Red was doing everything she could to snuff it out.

Wolf paced like... well, a wolf in a cage. He wondered about Scarlett's life here, the subsequent years... There had been so many of them. He had no doubt she would remember him. She had been very young, but a wolf always knew the smell of family. Even being abandoned at birth (which was very rare) a wolf would know their kin. Just as they could smell out other wolves, but stronger.
He stiffened up, his back moving a little straighter as he could hear and smell her running down the stairs and down the hall. But the closer she came, the stronger the scent of his baby sister, he relaxed. There was no anger or hatred in her... At least not for him.
She yelled for him, and it took all of his good sense not to howl, remembering where exactly he was. The last thing he needed was for guards to come rushing in and ruining this long, long overdo reunion. Tears immediately filled his eyes upon seeing her. She was a grown woman now. A far cry from the little girl whose hand he held as they foraged for berries and roots early summer mornings, the little girl he gave piggie back rides to and made her giggle with joy, the girl he held in his arms and would sing lullabies or make up adventure stories to lull her to sleep with. It was far easier to tell stories than sing to her, after their parents died. Songs held more truth in them than telling a little wolf she'd find her Happily Ever After.
Scarlett ran to him, through the throne room to the private parlor for awaiting guests, and his heart felt like it might burst. He grabbed her up tight, steadying himself by taking a halt step back and planting his foot, nearly bowled over by her launching herself at him.
He smelled something else. Something powerful. Terrible. Magical.
Wolf stroked her hair, cradling her head in his hand for a moment. He hugged her tighter, not wanting to recoil from it. It was very much like...
Wolf pulled away from her slowly, getting a full look at her. And the necklace she wore. He hadn't seen one in ages. Not only that... This was the very one he remember seeing before. The cause of Mother's outcry, the whole reason they were all stricken from the family books (until now). Red the Second had worn this same pendant, tampering down whatever wolf blood she had from her father, their great grandfather the Big Bad Wolf, as he was known.
Wolf's gaze moved back to Scarlett's face, reaching up and touching her cheek. He shut his mouth, hanging open from the shock of the smell, not only of the memories flooding back of his family, but of the magic that engulfed her. He swallowed hard, glancing to the pendant again before his brown eyes lifted to her face again.
"I'm so sorry, Scarlett.... For everything. But, look at you," Wolf couldn't help but smile, shaking his head, "So grown up..." He looked over to the door that now clicked shut behind them. His ear twitched, hearing the turn of a key. He felt his back stiffen again. Red wouldn't be so stupid as to try anything... He couldn't believe she would put Scarlett in any real danger.
Wolf let go of Scarlett, moving to sit on one of the red velvet couches. Did they ever get sick of seeing red everywhere?
"Are you happy here?" Wolf asked, though he thought it a stupid question, and the doubt in his voice was obvious. It was lame conversation. But something he needed to know as well. "Does she treat you well?"
Wolf knew that he wasn't about to steal her away to the 4th Kingdom. There was no ridding her of that necklace and bounding with her in the fields and forests of their homeland here. He had simply come to see her again, take her to spend the week in Wendell's castle for the wedding. Maybe he could persuade Red to let him stay here when the full moon occurred, if Scarlett was even affected by them...
"How's your... cycle?" Wolf's eyes darted to the pendant again. He didn't even notice he had begun rubbing the fabric of his pant's leg, a light sheen of perspiration on his brow. He'd hugged her so tight, been in such close direct contact to the pendant, which he wasn't at all accustomed to. He took a deep breath, then another.
To say that Red had been furious upon receiving Wendell's note would be a gross understatement. How DARE that welp think he had any right to interfere in her Kingdom. Her family. Because like it or not, Wolf was her family. As was his sister.
Heir to Red's throne. Her last resort.
Climbing the steps to Scarlett's tower bedroom, Red motioned for the ever present guards to move aside. While most royal bedrooms would see a guard or two at the door. Scarlett had six. Thanks to repeated flight attempts and an...incident during a full moon back when she was fourteen. After that, Red upped the dosage on the potions they gave her. Enchanted not just the pendent she wore but the room as well.
She would not have the name of the House of Red tarnished by some animal.
The door opened and Scarlett looked over as Red held out the note. "Seems your brother has somehow wormed his way into King Wendell's Court. Foolish boy. Letting a wolf through the door. He'll find out soon enough. Anyway...your brother is here. To take you to said wedding...should you want to go..."
What kind of question was that? Of course she wanted to go! To see her brother! She had heard rumblings that he was involved in something. Some escapade that saved Wendell's throne. She hadn't gotten to go to the Coronation. Too close to the full moon. But now...
"You understand I am placing a great deal of trust in you. To behave. To act as befitting my heir. And to manage your....condition without the Court wise women and healers. One slip up and...." And everything would be ruined.
"And there's no chance of this happening again?"
"Exactly. Now go on. I'll have to servants start packing your trunk." The sooner Scarlett got downstairs, the sooner Wolf would be gone from Red's Kingdom.
Forgetting every lesson and lecture on decorum Red had tried to place on her, Scarlett went flying down the stairs. Using a speed and grace unheard of in humans.
As she reached the throne room, her eyes immediately locked on the figure anxiously fidgeting. "Wolf? WOLF!" She threw herself at him, hugging him tightly.

@ofthe10kingdoms
Dear Queen Red III,
I was disheartened to hear that you would be unable to attend the wedding of my step-sister Virginia Lewis and her betrothed, your cousin Wolf. I hate to imagine the great distress this might cause your lovely heir Scarlett to miss her own brother's wedding.
Therefore I have sent this carriage with her brother to fetch her. No need to thank me, of course, I was more than happy to assist in anyway possible. After all, we are now officially joining our houses together, through kinship and blood.
Yours most cordially,
King Wendell White
Wolf did his best not to fidget or bite his nails. Not when Red was so unflappable. She was not much older than him and they were far from close. Wolf was not entirely unpracticed with visiting his royal cousins though it was not an invitation given out... ever now. When he was a child, when Scarlett was very small, they have visited the Court of Red. Once, maybe twice, when Father had been more active in the court. Before Mother had lost her temper, as wolves do, and Queen Red II had declared their Father, her own brother, no longer welcomed. The palace had not changed very much. And Red the Third seemed to be every bit entitled and dismissive as her mother.
They had watched their parents burn for 'treasonous activities' and were living as outcasts, no longer worthy of the titles their father's heritage had once offered them. Luna and Wolf struggled to find work, both of them resorting to thievery until Luna was caught and put in prison for a time. Shortly after her release... the newly crowned Queen Red III had shown up, knowing they had no other choice. No magic or wishing could give her an heir, and so she exploited the only family she had left.
He had not been to the Castle Red since before his parent's deaths, not invited, of course, none of them ever had been again. He had tried but always was turned away at the gates. He had regrets of their decision, though he knew it was the best option. The only real option. Scarlett's best chance. His little sister was an heir to the throne of Red, not an outcast, not a criminal. Not a lost scent and a cold trail. Not a memory and an unmarked grave.
They had other siblings. Scarlett was the only one whose whereabouts he knew of. She was young enough to be molded into a proper princess, young enough that her wolf-ness hadn't yet come about. There was still time to... tame that side of her. Luna, their elder sister, had agreed to it without much discussion. He had been angry with her for weeks, more angry than he had ever felt. But all the tears and snarls wouldn't change the fact that she had been right in her decision. Scarlett deserved a better life than what they could give her. She was of the right age. Lupita and Caleb, the twins, were the middle children, already teenagers. Rory was younger than Scarlett, but the House of Red always favored a female heir over the males. Luna had tried to convince Red to take him, too, even in service. But she had refused.
It had been almost two decades since he had seen or spoken to Scarlett. Nearly as long as when he'd last heard from Luna. And if anything had happened to her and the twins... there was little telling what had happened to Rory. It had been his own stint in prison, his first time, that he had returned home to an empty house with no word or sniff of where his siblings might have run to.
So Wolf stood in the empty guest parlor of the House of Red awaiting an audience with his sister. All grown up, no longer the little girl he remembered. Queen Red had been more than annoyed to see Wolf and flush with rage with King Wendell's letter and insistence that Scarlett, at least, be in attendance. The Queen had come up with some excuse so utterly see thru, Wendell hadn't even bothered to mention it to Wolf when the Wedding invitation had been returned with a very short letter attached. It would have been more than insulting to decline without reason. And perhaps it was some thinly veiled threat from Wendell that he mentioned knowing Scarlett was Wolf's little sister. Virginia and Tony both had offered to come for moral support and a curiosity to see more of the kingdoms. Wolf knew he had to go, in person; he had insisted on coming. Alone.
In truth, Wolf was frightened. It had not occurred to any of them that perhaps it wasn't Queen Red who was declining the invitation, addressed to both she and her adopted heir, but Scarlett herself, a grudge held for a brother that she was possibly ashamed of, if not hated. But now, with Wolf a proper Lord of the house of White, or soon to be, he could make the effort to reunite his family, to search for them. He had hoped his new connections would have made things easier in finding the rest of his siblings before the wedding, before the birth of his first child, but to no avail.
He had written many times to Scarlett through the years, with nothing in return. Any attempt to visit her had been turned down, though any mention of whether it was an order from Red or Scarlett had never been clear. He wouldn't risk exposing Scarlett's secret just to be insistent. 'No wolves', was the usual response from the guard.
This, he told himself, would be his last chance. To hear it from Scarlett herself, or to leave her be forever and move on with his life in the 4th kingdom.

“Well, this certain looks…. story book.” The Doctor glanced around their surroundings, a spread of lush green fields, a wooded roadside. Cottages and a marketplace further down the dirt road.
He watched a young woman completely ignore them strolling by with her pink little lamb.
“How charming.”

"Sorry--" Perrin apologized for his perceived laziness and picked up the pack made up for him earlier, which carried the majority of their needed provisions, including a tent for sleeping.
The situation of this quest as far as Perrin knew were as follows: He was assigned to look after Vera. Her skill set was of a more agile and diplomatic nature, speed and the like, and should they come upon anything too fierce in the journey to the other kingdom, it was his job to protect her. She had a message to deliver to the other king, something important, and obviously secretive. It was not Perrin's job to know. Should something happen to her... Well, he better not let it.
This other kingdom, Perrin wasn't a fan of. He hadn't stayed long in his time passing through it before arriving to their current benefactor. He knew it would be dangerous and understood why he was on this mission. He had been there before and could handle himself in a fight.
"Have you ever been where we're going?" Perrin asked, catching up with Vera. He didn't mind her succinctness, but a little conversation wouldn't be so bad.
"Vera." They give only out of not knowing another name to give. They were given as many as grains of sand, anything to get the job done. Shrugging on their pack and turning to walk out of the throne room, completely ignoring the act of civility Perrin gave.
Tumblr media
"Are you coming?" They ask, already half out of the door. "Pretty boy, we have a deadline to meet."
Which was pretty true. They were to cross the boarder, Meet with a conte on the inside, the one that would get her inside the palace during a festival to inevitably kill the king. The king that ordered this 'taking care of' gave Vera only the contact of Conte Du Paracette, the rest, they would have to figure out on their own

👀  or Anthony and Dan because why not 🤣
SEND  👀  FOR  A  DIRTY  THOUGHT  AND / OR  FANTASY  MY  MUSE  HAS  HAD  ABOUT  YOURS !
As romantic and gentlemanly as Dan is, he 100% has dirty fantasies about a passionate outdoor fuck against a wall with the whole risk of getting caught element.
Anthony is surprisingly more relaxed, but thinks it would be really fun to go down on Thera in a time where it's extremely taboo.

👀  - to Perrin and Sadiha (( ik this wont be a dirty thought, that man would be perkilated by an ankle showing ))
SEND  👀  FOR  A  DIRTY  THOUGHT  AND / OR  FANTASY  MY  MUSE  HAS  HAD  ABOUT  YOURS !
I don't know if he CAN have dirty thoughts. LOL
Perrin has a fantasy of saving Sadiha from some horrible fate. Something he not only couldn't do for his last romantic partner, but caused.
That using his magic to heal didn't risk random danger. (Technically wild magic sorcerers only roll a 1 on sorcerer spells for Wild Magic to happen but what's the traumatizing fun in that? Also Perrin was cursed by a god, so...)
Maybe even having to save Sadiha from his own parent's cult and making them all see the error of their ways.
The boy just wants to live up to the knighthood Sadiha gave them that he feels completely undeserving of.
