Us American and all fifty with 7:20 left on the 10 minute timer so thats…2:40? Granted I do the name em all Pokémon quiz thing a lot and the map helps way more than Pokédex order even though I can’t see half the map because of the keyboard but I just kinda went in a funky squiggle with naming.
And also forgot Connecticut in my “name all the tiny ones now so you don’t have to squint to pick out which one doesn’t have the name on it” name binge.

Alright it’s been two weeks and chaos is happening namely in the form of trying to clean the “we’ll put the new flooring in your room first and let’s move the packed stuff to your room lantern” stuff into packed away in some degree of order because we’re getting new windows.
And I gotta paint the walls again. First it was just the first wall looking like half watered acrylic with three layers of paint bar the cutting in and now it’s all three of the rest of the walls slowly absorbing the paint.
Also trips to various Lowe’s and Home Depot for planting stuff. Which at the least I got plants out of it.
So far the only progress I’ve made costume wise is adjusting the packing tape and plastic wrap pattern to what I think fits? Or at the least the mock-up after adjusting didn’t overlap anymore in the back. So the pieces have been picked back apart, the end pieces that were overlapping were. Sorta removed.
And by sorta I mean I just folded them back at the seam and did a stitch 1/8” ish from the edge to keep the combined edges of the last two pieces on either side as a flat straight edge to test.
I know I’m gonna need flat steel boning to keep the lacing….sturdier? More stable? Keep the grommets from pulling as much? Not sure what sort of strength the flat steel exactly lends asides from makes the grommets and lacing hold up longer somehow. But in theory the corset may be sturdy enough to not need bones if I use a couple layers of canvas and lining? Not sure but canvas is usually sturdy? If it’s used for tote bags I would hope it holds up well anyways.
But anyways no pictures cause chaos is happening but hopefully I can get the corset made albeit without the bones cause uh. I still gotta order the stuff.
Also, side note still IdentityV related, regarding Explorer’s buff in test server. What do they mean “added protection against position swaps with Hell Ember and puppet”? Seriously I’m wondering what they mean by this cause tiny Explorer is already invisible to the puppets so what in the world are they talking about?
Alright so update on the next stage of the costume aka catch the shirt close with a corset so the vest can be fitted. I made the mock-up from these previous shipping tape plastic wrap mummy pieces plus seam allowance.
Tumblr media
When the bobbin thread runs out sewing the second to last mock-up seam:
Tumblr media
And looking at it. It doesn’t look like anything is wrong.
Tumblr media
HOWEVER.
Somehow from the pattern made up the very end pieces, the ones that the grommets would go on? Pulled around where it would normally be. Those two pieces OVERLAP.
And I don’t mean just a little they entirely overlap ENTIRELY.
So I have two options her and it’s take off the last end piece entirely, and make the next to last piece on the sides the grommet pieces instead, OR I open the pattern I got with plans to make a Kuromi Mary/either False Hope costume and use the corset pattern in that.
(I can’t find it right now cause it’s gotten buried somewhere in the Necromancer costume stuff that’s scattered around but it’s the McCall’s corset pattern that’s got the hoop skirt pattern too that I got on sale)
So next update I will. Hopefully have a complete corset pattern and machine willing. (I fully expect the machine to jam a lot trying to sew two layers of canvas and lining)

So after much repair related annoyance, I am back with the shirt is done asides from a final detail that can wait until I get the other major factors of this done.
So the ruffles in the sleeves. Well. This was a funky method of folding each ruffle to like origami sort of except marking where the top visible fold would sit, and then because I do not trust ANYTHING to stay where it’s supposed to be except for a lot of not slippery poly or solid cotton, pins!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Featuring hair from the dog who deems it safe enough to lay as close as possible to the shirt without paws being on it. After hand sewing, they looked good. Or at the least I’m happy with them and frankly so long as you’re happy with what you make who cares what other people think.
Tumblr media
So this means the next step of fold this over so theres a little elastic channel on the inside means more pins and frankly. I’m more surprised the machine didn’t jam.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as for the elastic. I put a safety pin in both ends and threaded it in from the little gap I left in the row of stitching. Why two safety pins? Because I thought the pin was going to get stuck in the folds of the ruffles far more than it actually did, and then not notice if I just pulled the whole elastic too far and have to redo it.
Tumblr media
And so after that I sewed the ends together with the zigzag on the machine which I don’t have a picture of because the elastic did not want to stay put and is too thin to pin and I had to have one hand holding the elastic in place and the other hand using the hand wheel to sew stitches. But after dealing with that twice, the shirt is otherwise done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh my gods the blur. Instead of trying to fight more technology in getting a clearer picture, I’m just gonna go fight the paper pieces of the hopefully fitting corset pattern that refuse to lay flat without weights.
Alright in the time since last actual update on the shirt I’ve gotten the ends of the sleeves hemmed and the bottom edge of the shirt hemmed after much arguing with the infernal sewing machine.
It’s less an issue of finding the right settings and more an issue of I think a gremlin every so often decides to possess the darn thing and tries to eat the fabric by way of….I think the term is bird nesting? This is with cleaning the bobbin area often precisely because it tends to do this seemingly at random. Sew a couple of yards of hem, BIRDNEST.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But at least the hems look nice.
Now comes the complex part, the ruffles. So I’m sewing in ruffles to try and get that funky wavy ruffled look the cuff has from the gathering as seen here:
Tumblr media
And because of regular inconvenience suffering playing him and getting more often then not double duo teams, four man teams, voice chat teams, smurfs, or any combination of those, also because with the way I plan to sew the ruffles because they kinda look like pleated ruffles, I have decided to hand sew the ruffles which will be its own form of inconvenience suffering.
Also because with the fact that each half of a ruffle would be three layers, and a whole ruffle being two three layered sections, I have more than a couple doubts that the machine wouldn’t try to eat the fabric constantly and would be a at risk of ruining the sleeves.
So, step one, measure and sew a base line upon which the hand stitching will go.
Tumblr media
Step two, start marking the end points of the entire ruffles, mark a point in the middle where the edges meet, and then from the outside end marks mark a third of the way towards the middle mark.
Tumblr media
So this probably makes less sense but for simplicity and because it just occurred to me how the side view of each half ruffle looks, picture a z and a backwards z. Wait do I have a picture where I explained to a friend how the ruffles would look
Tumblr media
Yes I do! I just have to do this…for 6.75”(17.15 cm rounded up a decimal).
Twice.
So the next time I update will probably be either when I get both sleeve ruffles done or after that when I get the elastic added to the sleeves

Just text update on the shirt cause the damn machine said time to be a problem and jam and bird nest jam at that MULTIPLE TIMES even with each time rethreading and cleaning the machine that is trying my patience.
Anyways, I noticed that part of the French seams are managing to fray themselves out so to solve this I am going back over them and rolling the seams for them, and still manually shoving the fabric into the metal roll of the rolled hem foot.
Seriously why do tutorials say use the anchor threads when they won’t pull this in unless it has to be stouter fabric than voile in which case please, MENTION THAT.
Anyways the most surprising thing that hasn’t happened. Wait no I shouldn’t say the thing that shockingly hasn’t happened because if I do IT’LL PROBABLY FRICKING HAPPEN.
Such is my luck with sewing and shiny hunting in Pokémon.

Update time! Shorter due to mechanical difficulties!
I figured out the rolled hem foot and frankly the sew a couple straight stitches and then pull the fabric in the metal roll by the anchor strings…is either suited more for stuff that isn’t voile or to be taken with a sack of rock salt as instructions. So, i just. Manually with my own fingers got the fabric curled into that little metal roll and far enough to where the needle could catch and started sewing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I double rolled these mostly because I saw the tiniest of frays and said nope roll again. The corner of the two bits. Well. I used a zigzag stitch closer together for that and it’s not fraying to pieces yet so hopefully that worked.
Onto the collar I sewed it together with an 1/8 inch(3.175 aka 3 and tiny little decimal mm) seam and then sewed that to the where it goes on the shirt neck hole
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah the wonderful sight of tiny seam on fabric that frays horrendously not fraying more than it was. And so I went on and French seamed it to finish it up so I could start in the sleeves and sewing the gussets
Tumblr media
…I did not realize this ended up blurry XD
But anyways I went on to start on the arm gusset for the first sleeve and it was going great!
Tumblr media
And then I started sewing the actual sleeve seam same as prior and I should’ve expected it. I really, really should have known that nothing goes well for the whole duration of the project.
“But what went wrong?” If anyone sees this and wonders, well.
The damn machine jammed halfway down the rest of the sleeve seam. Specifically, the top thread has tangled itself up somewhere in the mechanics under the plate and behind where the bobbin sits. I’d have a picture if it was visible enough to photograph.
I can get it untangled, I just need to let it sit a moment and also let my knees unlock themselves and give my back a break from being hunched over this.
So! Im breaking shirt updates into initial post plus a reblog update because I have no idea how to add a read more cut. No y’all(if anyone even sees this) read that right.
I never claimed to be good at social media but I can at least make a costume that’ll hopefully look good when it’s done.
Onto the update! I got the collar cut and lines added.
Tumblr media
Pardon the funky angle the phone decides when it wants pictures to stay in the orientation that Im holding the phone in and when it wants to be a bugger.
And after that, I sewed the lines on the neck gussets before I forgot to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes I know I didn’t sew lines on closest to the folded edge of the gusset. Because they would get eaten by the french seam that goes there when I attach the collar later. And I changed the embroidery thread out for the actual sewing thread.
Yes I forgot to swap them out for a very short seam. No it’s not noticeable cause it was for one of the first seams on the gusset edges for the french seam.
And before I sewed the ends of the collar, I got the dog hair and stray thread bit off the voile…
Tumblr media
With a piece of paint tape rolled onto itself and by luck loose enough that it would roll around my finger.
Hey this was probably for the best considering I couldn’t find the full sized lint roller and this meant I didn’t have to worry as much about catching the edges of the fabric.
Tumblr media
Tiny first seam of the whole french seam
Tumblr media
Finished french seams and it’s probably hard to tell in this next picture but anyways
Tumblr media
You can sorta see the little edges from the first seam in the second seam.
Anyways, I’d be working on this more but unfortunately for the neck slit or rather the split part Im gonna have to figure out how to use the rolled hem foot that came with the sewing machine to hem those edges and then sew the collar on.
But slight hiccup aside, I have high hopes that if nothing else works right this shirt will look neat at least.

Whoops I forgot I had my age on my tumblr description and my birthday was in January.
That said have I been referencing that one Detroit: Become Human meme for saying my age?
Yes. Yes I have
Also more hilariously that the 28 Years Later trailer dropped. December? I don’t remember but the gif of the…hell I forget what they’re called in the movie too many zombie/plague movies with different names for the infected.
The gif of the ancient withered one has also been referenced.

Update time for the shirt!
I have most of the silver lines sewn bar the collar piece(that I had not cut out at the time of this picture because I have no intent to gather the collar at all and needed to measure the collar hole with the gussets added) and the little neck gussets.
Tumblr media
That said, the neck gussets are the first thing I sewed and there is sound reasoning in an of it’s a lot easier to turn the fabric to sew the seams at the corner when that piece of fabric is still flat and one layer.
Tumblr media
This is the second one because I forgot a picture of the first one. Yes I completely disregarded the two methods from the video of either sewing the gussets as a flat piece and then turning the edges over and sewing them in place or sewing the gusset edges to each other and then to the shirt.
But Cursed/Lantern, why did you sew the gussets like that?!
The answer to that: I French seamed the gussets.
Now, if anyone actually sees this and is wondering what the hell a French seam is(which considering Joseph Desaulniers is French is fitting), a French seam is a made out to be and explained as way more complicated than it probably is. For a French seam, you take your fabric, and first you sew it wrong sides together with a seam that apparently according to the plethora of explanations is trimmed after you do so. Then you fold the fabric right sides together and press that seam and sew again far enough from the pressed edge that the little seam flap are enclosed in this new little fabric tube that results.
Basically, if you squish this so the outside layers of the actual little seam are a circle ish shape and if the first seam you trimmed the edges stick up in the middle, it’s look like you made bunny ears or a peace sign in front of a flashlight’s light on a wall in a dark room for shadow puppets.
There are probably better descriptions for what it looks like and how to sew them. But it can be summed up as sew a seam wrong sides together, trim it close, fold the fabric right sides together and press and sew another seam line aways from the trimmed edges. Apparently this is good for sheer fabrics if you don’t use a rolled hem which. Is a whole different thing that to me looked more complicated than a French seam.
Now the thing I did because I didn’t want to trim the seams and decided to be very very careful with the voile so as to keep the edges from fraying as much as possible while moving the pieces. Was sew a tiny 1/8 of an inch ish seam (3.175 aka tiny fraction millimeters) and then after folding the fabric right sides together sew a 1/4”(6.35 not as tiny but still tiny fraction mm).
And I didn’t press the seam.
Yes I French seamed the neck gussets with more success than I thought would happen.
Aaand I forgot the picture of the absurdly tiny seam from the side that the seam edges are on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Behold, the finished gusset French seams! That I can’t get a decent picture of the inside of the tube bit cause the collar edges are trying to curl on themselves.
The corner ps specifically are the parts that worked better than I thought it would namely in and of wow there’s less little gather ruffle/pucker than expected! That said, with no pressing and the seams being under the presser foot and fingers being too big to flatten the corner seam enough, how did I get the corner flat enough.
And the answer…
Tumblr media
Yes, I used the larger of the two flathead screwdrivers that came with my sewing machine to smush the corner flat from the inside. Like turning particularly stubborn corners inside out for plushies.
Sometimes your own sewing hubris requires you get safely creative with how you solve a problem.
And with that thats all for this shirt update, the Temu wig has some progress on color shifting but currently is too blue and my phone’s camera is making it look far closer to the correct color than it is in person.
So I have been working on the second attempt Necromancer costume and uh. I kinda forget Ihave a tumblr that I was planning to post updates to?
So update time!
I had a hell of a time finding size 70/10 needles to sew the voile with and finally found them at hobby lobby along with a roll of their LED foam. Which we’ll see if it works as well as plastazote apparently does.
In between needle hunting though, I researched a lot on how I need to do the embroidery for the trench coat and made a tape and plastic wrap overbust corset pattern. No plastic wrap and tape encased Lantern pic though, cause I forgot and a was trying to keep the wrap from sliding down my back. But here’s the picture of the plastic wrap tape pieces but not the paper pattern pieces I made cause uh. I don’t have enough craft paint bottles at hand to weigh them all down because I cut them from a roll of paper and they all curling.
Tumblr media
Yes, know I numbered pieces as 4 twice.
Now for the shirt! I got the pieces cut and after fighting the sewing machine metaphorically and a lot of researching on why the hell is the top thread snapping so much, have managed with cleaning the bobbin area out and leaving the top tension at a 2 ish and sewing slower and it’s actually not snapping anymore.
Tumblr media
Wow I did not realize how blurred that is.
But progress! If anyone is wondering, I did not draw off the lines on the voile with my chalk or whatever the hell it is fabric pencil. I said 3/4” is good line spacing, and said I do not want a line right on top of the side seams. And then remembered that the machine plate has a mark for 6/8”. And so, for the first line from the edge of the fabric, I sewed the line with the edge of the fabric kept at the 6/8” line. The rest of those lines? I kept the previous line along the marker. Now, the plate is silver and the seam marks darker by shadow or design I do not know. But I thought of a solution when I realized that 6/8” line was harder to see under the voile. Behold!
Tumblr media
WOW THAT’S BLURRY TOO granted I zoomed in a lot too.
Yes that’s a piece of blue painter’s tape with the edge of the tape along the 6/8” line. And it is easier to see! Listen if it works and helps you craft and ain’t dangerous it ain’t stupid.
Also, I do not have a pattern for this shirt persay. Instead, I found a YouTube tutorial on how to make a pirate shirt and the gussets are well explained so lemme figure out how to add a link uhhhhhhh.
youtube
Huzzah I figured it out! I don’t know how to attach it to clickable text but oh well!
I will update on the progress. When I make more substantial progress and remember to.
Edit: I forgot to add tags for sewing WHOOPS

S I waited until Sunday to get a pumpkin, didn’t decide what I was doing until I said screw it all, I’ll carve Audrey 2.
I looked for a good reference picture to use, and through a picture that goes with an article about a remake of said plant’s 1986 movie, saw Gremlins’ Director and Gremlins 2’ Writer are apparently working on it.
So I carved the brain gremlin onto a jack-o’-lantern.
I don’t know how long it took me to draw this design.
But cutting the design out. I tend to be a bit haphazard carving stuff out.
Case in point being anytime I’m asked to cut and shape a cake for anything, my grandma who bakes it because she’s usually who gets asked to make cakes for people anyways. Well. She gets booted from the kitchen as soon as I go to start carving cake because she flinches and silent gasps like she’s watching a suspenseful horror movie.
Anyways, I cut the design out…in a little under an hour and half. Counting cleaning up the outside from the pumpkin mush.
Anyways here’s the pictures because I have no idea if tumblr app will let me move the drawn on picture up to that part of the text.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember, be safe using carving tools and sharp objects, cool designs are not worth a trip to medical facilities for more severe injuries! (I used two of those cheaper carving kit pumpkin saws in large and small size and while those are blunt I do not doubt that enough force could cause injury)
Happy Halloween!

So the original attempt at the costume has been stopped because it wasn’t turning out how I’d have liked it(devil in the details), so that’s now a ghost costume, and I’m planning as soon as possible to start on the second attempt with what I’ve learned from this attempt.
Namely, don’t use sew in interfacing that don’t stretch with stretch fabric or lining fabric that doesn’t stretch.
I may or may not use the chains, but otherwise this whole new attempt is starting from scratch.
Again.
Don’t know when I’ll get to working on it cause the fabric ain’t here yet but. When it does and I start to working in it I will make an attempt to update on the progress and methods to my madness.
Okay so the Hisuian Zoroark crochet plush has been out on hold indefinitely because I can’t find my white yarn and I picked a very, VERY detailed cosmetic to cosplay for Halloween. If any of y’all that somehow see this know, Necromancer Joseph Desaulniers from Identity V is who I chose.
More specifically, out of camera form for the glowing hair.
Yes I am probably going to lose my mind over parts of this.
But I will persevere, bc I’ve already committed far too much and I have the shirt done.

So! In accordance with I keep forgetting to update this, the chain links are mostly done, I’ve forgotten to get a picture of the shirt and vest, and my brain power is going into how to sew the lining and the sleeves
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So the picture of piles of fabric are the main coat pieces, the front pieces, back piece, and the shorter sleeves which all have the interfacing layers already sewn onto the velvet, and the lining pieces that are not attached yet. I say brain power is going into sewing the sleeves and lining because I have some leeway in the flip inside out in and of the lining is surprisingly foldable to hold a crease, and that the top of the lining isn’t being sewn to the edges because the collar is double sided velvet that I still have to sew together.
I got sidetracked, the sleeves!
So the sleeves are already the velvet, interfacing, and lining layers, but the sleeves are a bizarre double sleeve with the short sleeve and the long sleeve. Add in the shoulder seams that are velvet, interfacing, and lining and you have seven layers to be sewn through in dubious order. Right now though, the plan is sew the short sleeve in, sew the lining into that but at the outside edge of the seam and from there sew the shoulder lining to the long sleeve.
Yes this is complicated, but I’m too far into this to quit now, and I can be stubborn and sleeves haven’t scared me yet!
