The way I have characters and a sneeze of a plot concept for my og novel. End me fr. I want to write it but. Being a writer is HELL. I try to brainstorm and I just hear wii music cycling in my noodle head.

I have old man yaoi. That's it. Normally I don't start writing until I know how the story ends, so this is. Rough. Besties help.

I've decided that Teddy’s nightmares need to be more deranged actually, in comparison with how chill he seems all the time. James' nightmare are all pretty abstract and mostly have to do with the lingering anxieties and fears of the things he can't quite remember. Meanwhile Teddy’s nightmares are demented amalgamations of gore and slaughter because some fucked up piece of the universe is trying to tell him something and the only way he'll pay attention is if they make him scared of the dark.

Teddy has a nightmare in his bonus chapter and it feels pretty outta pocket even for my standards, potentially because there's an animal involved. Writing it had me feeling pretty uncomfortable, but I suppose that's a good thing 👍🏻 it is a dead dove fic after all. Oh boy, though.

Work on Teddy’s chapter has been slow going but it is so nice to write. Maybe cuz the rest of the book has been Jamie's POV, and now I get to branch out with Teddy and show his thought process, why he came home when he did, what he thinks of James. It's hella enjoyable to write so far.

Got some work on the first bonus chapter done! Having a little too much fun with it ✌🏻 we get to see little James and Teddy while he's traveling. And a few of his teachers, which is fun.

I know Albus is a Slytherin in Ballad because James named his owl Snidget, Lily named her owl Bogrog (or something idfk), and Al named his ferret Queen Eleanor Marie Von Baron Saint III (scorpius added the Queen title because he thought she needed to be royalty), anyway I'm saying it's about the ✨️drama✨️

Harry, Andy or even Lyall can call Teddy by his full name in a scolding tone and he just "psh whatever im not a child you can't ground me".

James calls him by his full name and he immediately "oh I'm gonna meet god today".

I think it would be interesting if Teddy fucking hated chocolate. Like it's his least favorite candy. He'll accept it because he's polite and will eat it if someone is watching him but UGH he hates it.

Take that, fandom.

Also James is the only one who knows Teddy doesnt like chocolate, not because Teddy told him but because he pays attention to Teddy even when he's little and is able to pick out the subtle cringes whenever it's presented to him.

Little James just "ummm he doesnt like that" and the adults cooing over how cute lil James is and not taking him seriously.

Chapter 41: Wildflower and Barley

James was standing in the yard on the cliff again, outside the cottage where Rebecca’s parents had lived so long ago. He stayed still and stared across the yard at the overgrown grass to the cairn where some rocks had slipped loose and crumbled. Then he looked out over the ocean, and for a short moment he found himself looking for Teddy’s Patronus. The misty blue wolf from his dream. He lifted his wand, still staring across the water, reaching his other hand to the ring sitting on his sternum. His thoughts went to the night before, when his hands were holding Teddy by the face to keep him in a comfortable kiss while Teddy laid on top of him, embracing him with his arms, heating every inch of his body, making him feel safer than he ever had before. James stuttered over the words a few times, anxious and afraid of the outcome. He struggled to take in a good breath and shut his eyes, breathing through his nose and clutching the ring, focusing on the feeling of Teddy’s magic before trying again. Despite the way his knees still felt weak and his hand was still trembling. He managed to say it that time, but his voice was barely above a whisper. “Expecto Patronum…”

James apparated to the front yard of his parents home in Kidderminster, shuffling up to the front door and standing on the front steps for a long time to steady himself. His heart was racing a little too fast, he knew that, and he knew he was getting a little too riled up when he saw the familiar spots in his eyes. So he shut them, reaching up to the chain around his neck and lifting the ring to his lips.

He didn’t know how, but he could feel it. Teddy’s magic. Just like Teddy said he would. It was such an enormous comfort, and James was able to breathe deeply, then sigh and reopen his eyes. Whatever happened, it would be okay, because Teddy was waiting for him at the old cottage in Fishguard.

Okay guys, considering how tired I still am, I'm definitely not going to be able to finish writing and editing the last chapter for today's update 😭 I've worked so much overtime and even had to go in yesterday. Normally Fridays I have off and use it to finish writing and editing, but I didn't have that extra time this week. I promise I'll have the chapter out soon, I hope you can all forgive me for the extra wait 🙏🏻

I'm too tired to focus properly on my writing, and you guys deserve a better quality chapter than what I can produce right now. I'm really sorry 🥺

Red Clover - coming soon

"James Sirius Potter is used to making mistakes, but he's never made a mistake like this."

Someone has been tampering with potions in Britain. The situation has been on the Ministry's radar for months, but leads have dried up and the Head Auror is pushing to move the team leading the investigation onto more pressing matters.

Their last resort is to bring in an expert Potioneer in the hopes of offering a fresh perspective to the matter.

The only problem is that the Auror in charge is Teddy Lupin, and the expert Potioneer is his godfather’s son, James Potter. Which wouldn't normally be an issue as they've known each other for years and have been friends for just as long; but James has been avoiding Teddy at every turn for months now with no explanation.

It's more than obvious that something has changed between them, but Teddy hopes working together will help to bridge the growing gap before it becomes impassable.

Unfortunately, even with the increasing severity of the situation, James' uncharacteristic moodiness, an Auror partner who's being far too friendly, and Teddy’s own personal demons roaring back after years of dormancy, neither of them realizes just how complicated things are about to become.
