Dress up. I've been thinking a lot lately about how integral dress up, role playing, and other imaginative games were to my childhood development. My sisters and I would play for hours on end; we were pioneers, immigrants, school teachers, pharaohs, queens, servants, missionaries, spies, master thieves, witches, waitresses... Some days we were escaping the Nazis in our covered wagon (it's amazing what you can do with a bunk bed and blankets); other days we were just playing house.
