I think what keeps me going through the frankly turbulent motivation spikes during the development of Petrichorus is the fact that to this day at least 5 people look at the prologue page.

To be honest, Petrichorus’s prologue wasn’t really received as bombastically as something more “mainstream” (I guess that’s how I’d describe it) as Parasite Cycle, but it still gives me hope that people do want to see Petrichorus out. I know it’s a pretty niche game concept. I keep calling it an exercise in personal exorcism, but I’d still like for people to see it, however selfish it sounds

Hello, everybody. I'd like to share the fact that I am transfem. Have been for a while. Let me be clear: I am the transgender solo dev behind HEARTRENDER. You've been listening to me talk about my trans game and now I wish to talk about this.

I never felt the need to reveal myself at first, as I never cared what the world thought. But now, I do. I want other trans people to look at HEARTRENDER and know that someone like them is making it. I want them to feel proud. Cherished. I want them to not feel alone.

HEARTRENDER is a game that, among many other things, speaks to the trans/queer experience. Talks about the joys and pains of being different and how these things heal/hurt us. Change. Community. Persecution. Transcendence. There's more, but I'll keep it a secret for now.

I know that by revealing myself, I expose myself to hatred and ignorance. But by the same coin, I wish to become part of a group from which I've seen so much warmth and solidarity. I've been helped, guided and been inspired by their bravery and now wish to join it.

Doing this, I hope to become part of a wonderful circle of linked hands and help grow it a bit. We deserve to be known and must stick together. For ourselves, those we hold dear, those who suffered in the past, and those who do not deserve to suffer in the future.

I will not beg for understanding. I will not apologize for who I am. Those who accept me will hold a place in my heart. Those who don't will live in a smaller world. But at any rate, thank you for listening. HEARTRENDER is doing great and so am I. 🏳️‍⚧️
