[ ☀️ ] OKAY SO I KNOW IT'S BEEN MORE THAN A WEEK.

This blog post might not be crazy long ( it is now summer break, I am going to try and draw even more ) but I just wanted to acknowledge just how pretty poetry on Pinterest can be sometimes. Like there was this one poem I found where somehow the writer managed to line up two completely different paragraphs detailing the before and after of the loss of their father and then make it so that you could still read the whole thing both as two separate paragraphs and then one whole essay. Then there was that one poem that went "we'll write about the flowers as if we own them." Or the one about wishing death were kinder than man

I have an ENTIRE PINTEREST BOARD dedicated to POETRY--- written poetry, poetry here on Tumblr, in the depths of the internet... I'm considering printing it all out because I know the examples I just gave may seem pretty?? simple ??? basic ????? but I love it all anyway writing will never ever ever cease to be so impossibly beautiful to me

MORE NOLI OCS

[ ☀ ] Maybe I should do this more often--- drop like a somewhat colored sketch and then a BUNCH of sketches

Anyway !! On your right would be Marisol Dimayuga and potential love interest, Phillip Escheverria ( they make my heart hurt but more on that later. soon ), I know my anatomy is really wonky--- I find it funny how I sketched most of these in school

[ 🍂 ] THINGS YOU MUST KNOW

Marisol's parents are Elias and Salome Dimayuga ( Elias took Salome's last name because of all the tragedy surrounding his family--- he believed it was ill luck + Salome has a surname from Batangas despite being from Mindoro because her father was from the first province teehee + you can see how much time I spent thinking about this )

Marisol is canonically SIX FEET AND ABOUT NINE INCHES TALL. It's even funnier to think about because there is a certain rumor in San Diego ( there are far too many about her small family to count, from her father being a bandit to her mother being a sorceress from the islands--- she isn't entirely sure which are false ) stating that Marisol is really just a giant and her mother is a goddess or something ( in Filipino folklore, I think humans and deities make giants, which I found super interesting )

she is into art and hyper-realism while sketching + she prefers charcoals and pencils over paint but will make an exception with oil paint, PLUS she is very good at math + carrying stuff around and doing "heavy" chores

she has a sort of ghostly connection w her aunt, Elias's twin sister--- she often sees her ghost hanging around the house with a bout of roses growing in her chest it's spooky

she loves her parents, her brother Amihan, and the friendship she finds with Victoria Ibarra and her siblings ( they make me so 💕💕💕 )

🍁🥂🎇 Dearest blog,

[ 🌻 ] Okay so I may or may not have forgotten that the whole point of my making this blog was to have a place (that wasn't my personal journal) to really chronicle my thoughts--- like an online diary, except I write about the things that I enjoy // really like. In my description is an array of things I would like to talk about on this blog just for the sillies, and I know only like three or five people probably read this but it's nice to think that I'll have a little corner of the internet I can look back on when I'm old and gray and have a dog or another room I can call my own. ANYWAY

The first thing I mentioned in the description of this blog would be music !! I suppose it's a nice thought, being able to warm up writing here and then be able to work on the book draft I'm currently working on. The thing about music is that--- it was this immovable presence throughout the entirety of my childhood, all the way up to when I was a teenager (or, in simpler terms, now). I thought of stories by way of music; I learned how to write the way I wanted to based on lyrics alone, I could step into worlds depending on the song being played--- I suppose the most important thing about music to me, though, would probably be the fact that a large chunk of my memories are tied to songs, albums, lyrics.

I started doing this little thing in January, 2023 (it's been more than a year since then, can you believe it?) where--- I would take songs I liked or songs that reminded me of a month (for instance, January was orange and therefore reminiscent of sunsets and road trips and cold mornings) and then compile it all into one single playlist. I would listen to that playlist--- just the one--- for an entire month before moving on to the next. I'm not entirely sure whether it slows or quickens the passage of time, but I'm almost certain these playlists can take me right back to where I was a year ago. Whether it be a train station or a mountain peak or a chilly night out in the neighborhood streets--- if I happened to be listening to a song at the time, said song would be listened to a day, a month, a whole year from then and it would evoke the exact same feeling.

I suppose I liked the thought of reigniting memory with music, as I do remember writing this one philosophical paper on the nature of dementia, phenomenology (our existence through experience), and all that sort of thing and then finding out that our memories were most strongly tied to music. I mean, come on, Everywhere at the End of Time practically capitalizes on the fact that music and sound are such great ways to expound on memory, feeling, and the telling of stories. I had to listen to snippets of the album in order to properly write the essay I mentioned earlier, and it was so fascinating to find that the music throughout the album changed based on how a person felt, or how much they could remember. I suppose that same album pushed me to remember, or to listen to as many songs as I could, just in case--- someday--- music would be the only thing I could bring myself to remember.

Anyway! I'll be back next week--- hopefully with a digital art piece or a blog about poetry. I adore poetry; I'll try and gather my favorite pieces by then. I hope you grow to love music as much as I do--- I would have written more if I didn't have to go and practice playing volleyball.

hello random blog post but there’s just something so hauntingly beautiful about something becoming so much more once it is gone, like when moments become memories and childhood slowly morphs into the chaos and confusion of adulthood

Am I worrying about my future ?? A little, though I feel like most of my life will be spent chronicling and remembering as much as I possibly can, because of the intrinsic glory of being able to relive the joy of the morning sun in April on your final year of high school through the pages of an ancient journal 🌻📚

Is the most like his mother

Trying his best, loves ballet and embroidery but doesn’t dare tell anyone that isn’t his sister ( or mother, who urged him to dance )

Is often mistaken for a young maiden, or a “deity amongst mortals” ( almost to a point where it is a misfortune )

Pointe shoes, marks on the wall for fouettés and lots and lots of (invisible) string

Does not starkly resemble Crisostomo Ibarra ( nor her mother at first glance )

Absolutely despises mirrors and can’t bear to look in them, loves books and philosophy though

Favorite genres are mystery and anything featuring a criminal case

Tell me who she resembles from Noli me Tangere. I’ll wait ( hint : she’s illegitimate )

Has a pretty depressing background + loves her family to the ends of the earth

If Clarito were a dove, she would be a black cat
