Weehee I made a cool advert poster for the RP group @cyanide-the-spider made! A little about us We are an LGBTQIA+ supportive community, that's open to new roleplayers and experienced roleplayers to join us. With an easy to follow dice rolling system and a consent and trust system to keep everything fair from full campaign scenarios, storylines, down to combat and more. This system was built specifically for those with maths and reading struggles to be able to have a fun and enjoyable roleplaying experience. The Masked Ghosts ensure that new members are able to navigate with ease, and be able to hop in without feeling daunted to try to mingle and become a part of the community. With an additional and organized system that accommodates those who only want to roleplay on Discord, Eso, or Both to never be left in the dark on how the story is progressing. The community builds this story together, and every member has a contribution to it. Who can join? From those new to rp to experienced, we are open and welcoming to anyone to join us. Please understand that this group has 18+ themes even though a lot of it is slice of life with some ic criminal activity, We only allow individuals who are above the age of 18+ to participate with us. A laidback and positive community- We may all be playing criminals however oocly we're a friendly bunch that are drama-free. We allow individuals to play ESO themed characters, and are very open to folks playing characters from other universes as long as they are balanced, follows the system we have established, and won't be stepping on others toes. We keep ERP separate from regular RP, however some regular RP may have some themes that may be uncomfortable for those with a gentle disposition- such as torture, assassination, violence, some gore, e.t.c. even though we do properly trigger warning these themes, this group may still be a little too intense for some folks.

I know I've been rather quiet of late - I needed to take some time away due to some personal issues as well as a move. BUT! That doesn't mean that my needles or hooks have stayed cold! My most recent project is this capelet, and I've just finished the front panel and will be moving on to the back panel tomorrow. I've made this before, using all black yarn. However, I wasn't happy with it at all. I'm much happier with what I've got going on here, and am greatly looking forward to how it turns out! The pattern is "Winter Cape," by Merry Purdy (available on Ravelry), and the wool I'm using is Lion Brand Yarns' Wool Ease in Dark Rose Heather and Forest Green Heather, which is a nice 80% Acrylic, 20% wool blend.

Coffee with a Spider: That Awkward Moment...

I've been working on a doily - something a lot of people seem to have been really enjoying seeing - and am getting to the last few rounds of the piece. I love lace so much, but sometimes life has a way of nipping at you in unexpected ways. The sheer amount of thread I just had to frog for two rounds was almost heartbreaking because after having an unexpected break from working on the doily (i.e, an emergency surgery) that lasted for over a week, I came back to it to find that I'd been getting my counts wrong, resulting in lace petals going off in odd directions. Shouldn't take me long to fix, but goodness, I needed to vent a little!

An update on the spontaneous doily from a couple days ago. I only pick it up for some absent-minded crocheting when I'm not quite in the knitting mood. I'd say it's maybe 3/4 of the way done. I haven't yet decided if I want to starch this one when I block it, but wet blocking works well on this thread even without starch. So we'll see!

A WIP And a Shameless Plug

There's always time for a little bit of self-care, especially these days with the cold weather and the utter chaos of modern life. Comfort food or a nice movie or a manicure and shopping spree may be self-care for some, but self-care tends to be something altogether different for me: I game or, more pertinent to this blog, I cast on a project to work on for myself.

As I'm living in a much colder climate now than I was a year ago, there is a greater need for warm skirts, so my first knitted skirt of the year is now in progress! But before I show off the WIP, a shameless plug.

Now, with that out of the way, time to nerd out about an unfinished skirt!

This is my current Work In Progress - the Bold Stripes Skirt by Wiam's Crafts. This is a very simple pattern largely done in stockinette (perfect for casual knitting in the car, at my favorite outdoor spot, or while watching videos about ocean liners). The alternating panels of purl stitches and bold stripes of knit stitches that makes up the bulk of the pattern are very pleasant to the touch and fairly quick to work up, and looking ahead on the pattern where some diamond shaped stitching patterns branch out of the stripes, it's another simple set of knits and purls - no cables or fancy stitches. This makes it an ideal pattern for beginner knitters who want to make their first wearable.

I personally am looking forward to seeing how the pattern looks on the reverse side, as my roommate and I are both agreed in that the inside actually is rather gorgeous and looks like a morning glory.

Of course, I'll share more of this WIP as time goes on, and once it's done, there will definitely be some modeling of it! If I like this skirt enough, I may even make the matching top, also available on Wiam's Crafts. Both patterns are free on their website!

So I've recently started some new medications to treat my fibromyalgia as well as some mental health issues. This doesn't mean my hooks and needles grow cold! True winter is creeping ever closer here in New England, so an additional skirt seemed a good idea. So far it's coming along great, and I'm loving the colors on it!

A current WIP! Got tired of the thought that bras should be expensive. So I'm starting up on making my own, which should be a better fit for one, and comfortable for two! (No puns intended there). If this works out, I'll definitely be making more for myself, in darker colors!

Coffee with a Spider: Fiber Interests

Something that I think I've started noticing throughout the fiber community is a love of branching out a little bit and trying out other fiber crafts. For myself personally, I already do crochet, nalbinding, and knitting... and have plans to delve into tatting and spinning and weaving in the future. I'm very interested to know what all of you enjoy doing and are interested in learning? Maybe we can all learn from each other! ^.^
