Chaos! (they/them)
so Chaos, like Arrokoth is a contact binary, so there are two guys rattling around in there. however Chaos is a bit lesser-known than Arrokoth so it's lobes don't have their own names. also, one two-headed character is a fun novelty, but more than that and it gets a bit boring, so Chaos exhibits the contact binary condition in a different way, implying a collision that left the two lobes very tightly combined.
And I realise that a character that is actually two characters sharing one body being called Chaos sounds, right off the bat, like a terrible representation of DID... which was not intentional. I didnlt really set out to be like "this one has DID" but with Chaos having two individuals inside them, the similarities are there and I don't want people being made uncomfortable by them... and I certainly didn't help by giving them the goofiest little villainous grin... but I am going to backtrack a bit and say that neither of the Chaoses are particularly chaotic.
"Pink Chaos" is a sweet and happy-go-lucky little fellow, whereas "Yellow Chaos" is fast-thinking and assertive. "Pink Chaos" has control of all the body except for the yellow eye, which "Yellow Chaos" has control over. Both share the mouth, and often decide between each other what they want to say.
haha this may be a thing where nobody actually would have been made uncomfortable by Chaos and I've just twisted myself in a knot trying to justify myself and now I just look weird on the internet, I'm sorry DID havers

LMAO I FORGOT THE ARO FLAG HAS FIVE STRIPES INSTEAD OF FOUR THAT'S WHY IT LOOKED WEIRD
Tell a straight guy that he may be aromantic TODAY! The results will ASTOUND YOU!
my contribution to pride month this year
I'm on a mission to put all my childhood OCs on the a-spec, it's like carcinisation for them
so Arsenic is next up (it's not like I just thought of this though, Aro Arsenic has been simmering in my head for a few months)
Copper has always been conceptualised as "oh she's just not into relationships" so she was aroace as soon as I learned what that meant and subsequently came to identify with it
every time I draw Copper I am reminded of how much I love and cherish her
whereas with Arsenic, it's whether I'm drawing him pre-arc or post-arc that dictates how much I want to mash his face into the pavement
the middle text is placeholder for "the arc" that happens
oh and to clarify: Arsenic is specifically aroallo. Aromantic heterosexual. just to justify the #aroallo tag because I know of things having been in that tag that aren't really on-topic, and that being a bit of a point of contention for aroallo people. Copper is aroace but the comic is about Arsenic.

Dziewanna hang out sometime?
(she/her)
deep in the random TNO sauce with this one
Dziewanna is likely the most calm, collected and down-to-earth member of the Scattered Disk, to the point of sometimes being a bit monotonous.

and you know I realise, I'll never get people interested in my characters if I don't engage with the art community at large but sometimes I'm like, is there anything really here that people can latch onto? I try to think of little scenarios to put ocs in but then I'm like 'how did they get here' 'what is the context' 'i need to explain all these other things that are going on in the background' and then I just don't draw the hypothetical scenario which may endear an audience to my character and then i have no audience
cynically and bitterly I'm thinking "well I don't draw a lot of shipping or conventionally attractive people, most of my main characters are short, crusty aroace girlthings" but there are a lot of people who are into that genre of character
but because that genre of character is kind of extrapolated from how I am, I'm like "what is the appeal of me specifically, in real life?" I'm kind of isolated as it is, I worry if, when I get to university, people won't want to be friends with me. I'm a square, I'm quiet and I'm scared of inserting myself in conversations unless someone specifically talks to me because what if they don't want to talk to me? And hopefully the geology/paleontology course could fast-track me into camaraderie at the very least, but I worry that I'll just go there, keep my head down, not make any friends, go to my flat after the lectures and draw my silly little ocs to post at nobody.
sorry my followers who do look at my stuff, you are appreciated and I am always very happy to see a heart or reblog in my notifications 👍

hhhh I don't know if I should finally participate in ArtFight this year...
on the one hand, I have had no preparation, the designs of my favourite characters are in shambles and am I really just going to draw other people's designs for an entire month???
one the other hand, fossils and crystals??? it's the geology artfight!!!
(i also think i may be a little bummed out if I don't get any art back, and sometimes I do struggle to conceptualize my characters having any appeal to the wider populace...is anyone going to be willing to draw Yka now that she's a weird bug?)
perhaps the fomo will kill me, or perhaps there will be a drama that makes me glad I didn't do the artfight
decisions, decisions

finally got Amber Isle to reward myself for finishing exam season
and I have named my shop NeoRenovators (despite my chosen appearance not being a Neovenator - I believe I am a sort-of Caudipteryx-type guy. I would have loved to approximate a Sivatherium but there are no options to make ungulates in the character creator 😔)

addendum: I now think all TNO satellites are adults. this is due to the fact that they are more likely to have been captured than formed out of a proto-lunar disk. There's no real line you can draw in terms of the sizes of TNO satellites where above they're a binary pair, and below they're parent and moon. every binary pair of TNOs is an alliance between peers.
The exceptions here are Haumea's moons - where the running logic in Space Cats canon is that they coalesced from debris left over from Haumea's devastating collision - and Pluto and Charon's moons - who are quite literally their children that they have together. Lempo, Hiisi and Paha are all adults, and are basically the reason why I had to think about this further. Coming soon to a Tumblr dashboard near you!
In Cis-Neptunian space, most things mentioned in the original post still hold true. Moons formed in a protolunar disk (or from debris created by a collision in Luna's case) are the primary's children. Whether they are adult children or not is arbitrary and up to me, but does often correlate with size. However the size at which a moon becomes an adult is heavily dependent on the range of sizes seen in the assemblage of moons belonging to the respective planetary system. That is to say, for example, Titania is an adult because she is larger relative to other regular moons in the Uranian system, but Europa is a teenager despite being larger than Titania because Europa is the smallest Galilean moon in the Jovian system. Captured moons are adults.
I was working on the Galilean moons and Ganymede straight up just looks like a taxpaying adult
Jupiter: "hi hello yes this is my man-child"
I generally see larger moons as being older, considering Ganymede is not much smaller than Mars I feel fine giving him the maturity of a planet, however size isn't really everything, whether something orbits the sun or not is usually a much better indicator - e.g. Pluto is 'older' than Lune even though he is smaller because Pluto orbits the Sun and the Moon orbits Earth.
Of course, the history of the astronomical body plays a part as well - for example Triton is likely to have originated as a dwarf planet who got captured by Neptune's gravity than a moon that was formed under Neptune's gravity, so he acts more like a planet than a moon, and has a more brotherly relationship to Neptune.
Really, any moon that could have been considered a dwarf planet (I don't know if we can predict whether they'd have been able to clear their orbit if they orbited the sun, but I'd imagine if they were Mercury's size or larger it would be a given) if it orbited the Sun instead of its parent planet has a more 'adult' personality. Honestly, the Moon could count in this, the only reason why Lune is more youthful is because I like the parent-child dynamic with her and Tellus. Basically, it's not a hard and fast rule.
I was going to say 'back to Charon', but I then realised that I had not mentioned Charon - so we're talking about Charon. Definitely an adult, following the example of Ganymede but scaled down to dwarf planet size. Charon is bigger than Quaoar, which would make it the seventh largest dwarf planet if it were considered a dwarf planet instead of a moon. The whole orbit thing it has with Pluto is enough for me to put the characters on the same level of maturity as each other.
Interestingly, if Triton still orbited the Sun, it would be the largest dwarf planet. I think Pluto thinks about that.
Moons that are adults: Ganymede, Callisto, Io, Titan, Titania, Oberon, Triton, Charon
Moons that are teenagers: Lune, Europa, Rhea, Iapetus, Dione, Tethys, Umbriel, Ariel, Dysnomia, Vanth
(Key: Tellus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, other dwarf planets)
it's a good thing nobody else has moons that qualify because I ran out of colours
don't ask me what the cutoff point is that makes Io an adult and Europa a teenager, I think it's because Europa is smaller than the Moon but I'm not so sure, it isn't an amazing justification
with Saturn's moons you have to be a bit strict considering just how many there are, so only Titan gets to be an adult
for Uranus' moons, Titania and Oberon are almost the same size so I'd imagine they'd have an especially twin-like relationship, like Uranus himself has with Neptune. They are quite a bit larger than Umbriel and Ariel, who are also a twin pair. That is kind of weird for Uranus, that the four largest moons come as two pairs of almost equal size...the Uranian system is all kinds of wacky I love it
none of Neptune's other moons are in any way qualified to have any kind of maturity, they are like specks compared to Triton
and all of the other Transneptunian moons are kids. Actually, in terms of their relative sizes (everything out there is in miniature), Dysnomia (moon of Eris) and Vanth (moon of Orcus) could be teenagers! I don't mind that! I am retroactively adding these to the teenager list! But that's it! The rest are all kids!
