so many translation notes. none of these translations are "wrong" per se, but i'm writing paragraphs anyways:

"detention" in "grounds of detention" is literally "house arrest"

"one of my fuqin's teachers": lan xichen doesn't just say "teacher", he uses 恩师 (ēn shī). 恩 (ēn) is good deeds, benevolence, a great favor. 师 (shī) means teacher/ master. this address would be used for a teacher/master who showed a great deal of kindness to you; lan xichen/ lan wangji's father in this particular case. this teacher was probably both a mentor and benefactor to qingheng-jun. 

 "grievances": so what’s so special about this. 恩怨是非 (ēnyuàn shìfēi), is "grievances," but i wanna expand. grievances are used to describe bad things, grudges, hatred. 恩怨是非 describes, what i would say is... a difficult relationship. 恩 is the same ēn as above. 怨 is a grievance, a resentment. bad blood in a relationship. if you hold a grudge towards this person, you would 怨 them. 是非 (shìfēi) is right and wrong, respectively. these four characters together describe a complicated relationship. favor and benevolence, but offenses and resentment. both 'rights' and 'wrongs'. 

 the "atonement" qingheng-jun did is literally “reflecting on mistakes”

i wrote the chapter title is "the one i trust" but i don't think that's entirely accurate. instead of "the one i trust" it's more like "trusted one," the one a person has faith in. assuming it's about lan xichen's broken trust, something similar. it can also be seen as the one who trusts, a believer
